Not really. I go by what pleases my eyes. The windows are either Ferelden or Dalish. The bed is the dwarven, the drapes and the banner are inquisition, and the personal decor in the main hall is Orlesian, as is the throne.

No. Skyhold and my team's armors reflect the Inquisition.

There are a few reasons for this but the main one is that if you are building an organization, a collective of some form from the ground up, you need identity cohesion. You need people to be able to just look and say :- "Ah, that's the Inquisition.' It is very much like building a nation or sports team. You need a theme that is unique.

Having Skyhold reflect the taste of other cultures or parties for one shows that Inquisition is biased towards a certain group. Secondly, it shows that the Inquisition has no identity of its own and is dependent on something else for its identity. Can you imagine an upstart nation just blindly using the symbols and designs of other nations ?

While this makes sense, unfortunately this only works for Skyhold itself. If you don't use faction armours on your team then they end up with a hodgepodge selection of differing styles that are anything but collective. The main reason I went with Warden armours was to give my team a cohesive look, like a uniform. If I'd actually been able to deck everyone out in 'full Inquisition regalia' that the war table keeps talking about then I would have went with that, but alas there was no option.

Skyhold though.... Full inquisition. My Inquisition is a staunch ally of the Wardens and my Inquisitor respects them greatly, so wearing their armour is a seal of approval for them... But skyhold is the seat of the Inquisition. Moar Eyes Plz.

I generally decorate Skyhold not only to reflect my Inquisitor, but the company she keeps.  For instance, on my canon playthrough she has: the Mage throne (as she is a Mage,) Templar Banner, Circle of Magi Drapery, Grey Warden Heraldry, Orlesian Decor & Windows and finally Free Marches Bed II.

For the Major upgrades: Mage Watchtower, Infirmary and Herb Garden (those in my Skyhold who wish to participate in the delusion that is the Chantry are free to do so at the shrine in the garden's broom closet.)

Yeah, I try to thematically match Skyhold's decor to my Inquisitor's identity. Like I had Dwarven and Andrastian stuff for my faithful Cadash Inquisitor.

I always use the Inquisition stuff, because it doesn't feel right to use other banner etc when we are the Inquisition, but i really love the decor stuff, i use the Tevinter one because it's really badass and plus i really love the carpets lol :P i do hope they make more decor stuff and thrones.

Orlesian decor for his new found taste in shemlan politics and extravagant customs.

A mage throne to signify his pride in his arcane magic and support for the circles.

Elven glass to give him a reminder of home. After all, he's still dalish. And always will be.

Inquisition banners to remind everyone that beneath all the golden statues, the inquisition is here to stay and will not suffer traitors.

I play elves a lot and I was kind of disappointed that there was no Dalish throne or statues. So, what, am I supposed to use Dalish banners with Circle mage stuff for my apostate Dalish mage? Andrastian statues for my Creators-worshipping elf? Tevinter statues to remind her of her people's time in slavery? I would have loved to have some Mythal and Ghilan'nain statues and a halla throne!!

Er... no? You're a major political and military power, you can't just festoon your base of operations in Qunari paraphernalia. Do you want every single southern noble to keel over with apoplexy? I don't even change the thrones since they're all too politically charged. Even though I get really tired of looking at the default one. There should actually be a war table mission about dealing with public opinion if your decor is suddenly all magicky and Tevinter inspired.

I tend to pick Andrastian Chantry decor for political reasons.

I chose to keep the Inquisition banners and windows since Skyhold is our HQ but I used Free Marches for the rest of Skyhold since that is where my human Inquisitor is from.

No and I always keep Inquisition banners. The rest is just what I find looks the best.

I pick Dwarven drapery even if my PC isn't a Dwarf because it goes very well with the Orlesian homely decor.

I really liked the Marcher decor until I saw the creepy suns hanging on the walls.

And always dragon maw throne, I like the leather.

I mostly choose what suits my Quizzie best, personality-wise.

So since she's a Mage and a heavy Andrastian, here's my configuration.

Mage Throne

Circle of Magi Drapery

Inquisition Banners

Inquisition Windows

Inquisition Heraldry

Chantry Decor

Free Marches II Bed (because the Orlesian beds are just so... well, orlesian^^)

I also like the Andrastian throne in tevinter decor. Gives it the effect that the dragon statues are breathing golden flames onto the throne.

Mine is more influenced by the kind of Inquisitor I'm playing rather than by race/class. Sometimes those things overlap though. For example, I might play a pro Qun Quanri quizzy that has lots of Quanri decor around Skyhold, but it's not so much about them being a Qunari as it is about them believing in the Qun. My first Inquisitor was a devout Andrastian who was in favour of the circle, so those were the reflecting 'themes' of that Skyhold.

I made it a mixture of everything to reflect that I intended the Inquisition to be a multiracial and intercultural organization so some things were Dalish, some things were Dwarven, some things were Humans and so forth. It ended up looking rather nice.
