So, in my next Qunari Male Mage Nightmare *Gonna-Sheet-My-Pants-For-Sure* playthought I'm determined to reach at least lvl 25 comfortably, or even 26-27 (in my last playthought, I reached lvl 25 just at the very end of the game, after doing everything and defeating Corypheus, while not even trying). I think I've a few hints to do so, but I'm curious if there are more ways, given the game (absurd) limits on enemies and levelling.

So far I've determined that:

1)- First perk should be 'Massache's Method' for an extra XP kick per enemy (althought not that it gives much XP per se...killing a dragon with that perk only gives about 67 more XP), then work towards obtaining the four "XXX Knowledge" perks.

2) Even after obtaining the four of them, I should NOT click on any Codex entry gain until creature-based levelling is totally stalled. And neither entries that could lead to new quests (unless, of course, if those entries or quests become unavaliable after reaching a certain point of the game, like Haven or the Fade).

3) Similarly, I should leave "Enhanced Studies" perk for when you can't have any more creature XP. Obviously, I'd kill stuff like a madman (don't care if they aren't aggresive at all), and bring everything for study.

And for the enemies, areas or killing order, well....luckily you are basically guaranteed not to have headaches about that until lvl 17 at least, due to lvl 15 zombies spawning endlessly in the Mire, and by that time you've surely reached the Wastes, Emprise and the cave in the Coast, to kill the big XP givers (aka, dragons).

So, anything wrong about what I've posted? Suggestions?

From what I've read if you grind out enemies before doing the stuff with guaranteed XP regardless of levels (quests/codex/etc) you may be able to push level 28. Unfortunately playing that way gets a bit (ok a LOT) grindy as you are beating up mooks without making any progress until the mooks for a given area stop giving out XP pellets.

I guess if you are set on this course, just ignore any other side activity unless it is necessary to open an area, and move on to the next level range area until you are gaining no more xp from the random trash mobs that roam around each zone. You can also mod your game to make leveling easier if you want to take some of the monotony out of that game plan. Nexus has a mod to change the xp requirements per level.

I feel like once you reach level 20+, you've already acquired all the good skills.

Well, I'm not into changing game rules with mods....but it's a good idea for desperate cases.

Anyway, thrashing zombies around never gets old for me :D I guess I'll have to try to find an equilibrium between grinding and progression.

When you turn in creature research, you only get 400 XP no matter how much you turn in at once. Once you pick up a creature research item, you can't drop or destroy it, so once you have enough to complete 1 monster, stop picking up other research items until you turn in the ones you have.

Hitting 22 is not hard with minimal grinding. Yes you can grind for more, even after securing areas, just more sparse mobs spawing. The problem is getting mobs that still give XP past 24. Might grind this toon I'm on now out and see where I can get w/o leveling mods.

No. I think that they're, in fact, "per-monster" (or, if you prefer, "per kind of item"). I tried that in fact: I first gathered a dozed August Ram horns (game boozed up and gave me 100% chance of obtaining one every time I killed one), then gave them for research and it gave me 400 XP. Then I reloaded and farmed a bit until I had more than 50, thinking "hahahaha! lots of free XP!". Gave them and they gave me 400 again :P

So I think it's not a matter of how much you obtain, or when you turn them: it's just a matter of obtaining a X certain quantity of all the possible creature drops, then giving them.
