"This is quite the fancy arrangement..." Said a more pale-ish yellow salarian with blue face markings as he walked into the lobby in his blue casual wear, a jacket, pants, and glove combo, and took in all the details with his green eyes flicking about curiously. It looked so, well, ordinary; So completely like every other building in the area, he had to give whoever was running this outfit credit.

STG and Shadow Broker cells would both give a disgruntled nod of approval, right before they tried to blow the building up and not waste time on going through the no doubt duplicitous buildings interior.

"Wonder if I'm going to have to talk to some receptionist as well, really sell that this is just a normal office building." He said sarcastically as another salarian came in, looking at him as he held the door open with one hand, "Ah. You must be Mr. Hishau. Please, come this way." He said as menos cocked a brow.

"Okaaaaaay than." He said as he walked forward, going through the doorway as he gave a skeptical eye towards the other salarian, "So, you greet all your guests from half-open doors mr..."

"Devi. Vihaan Devi, and no. Your just the second person to arrive." Devi said as he escorted Menos towards the control room.

"Second? Damn, thought I came early enough to beat the others." The salarian said as he snapped his fingers in disaappointment, "So, whose the early bird who beat me?" He asked as Devi showed him the room kurik was in.

"You'll have plenty of time to ask him yourself, Mr. Hishau." Devi said as menos's eyes drifted towards the turian sitting at the table. Menos looked towards the turian, cocked his head to the side, and then looked between Kurik and Devi.

Then he grinned, very, very, widely.

"Early Birds a turian?" Menos asked as he smiled somewhat sinisterly, rubbing his hands together as he chuckled to himself, "Oh this is just too good to be true."

Becks arrived at a casual pace." Did i miss anything?" she asked in a boored tone as she approached the salarian.

" This joint got a toilet?"

Behind Becks a M1 Lokie unit approached.

"Please pardon my intrusion."

“Good morning, everyone,” Arcadia opened to all as she stood at the head of the room, “I can get very dull if I talk too much, and I hope we can move on from all the blathering very soon, but I’m not going to let it pass that I’m pleasantly surprised to see you come.  We really haven’t formally introduced ourselves and we’ll do that at the end, so everyone knows who’s on the team, but from here on in you can call me Cadi, like everyone close to me.  Let’s get started.”

Cadi reached into one of the pouches in her webbing and pulled out several hard plastic tickets.  She began moving a dealing them like cards to everyone present.  “These are tickets to the Armax Arsenal Arena.  Enough for several good runs, and if you need more just ask.  Use them alone if you wish, but I’d like us to do some runs together, to get used to each other, to see how we can work together and plan for the worst if it happens.  Besides, practice never hurt anyone in our profession.

“All the basics of what you need to know are on those datapads.  They’re yours.  They’ve got information on individual accounts you can draw on from the company for your standard expenses such as meals; a per diem if you will.  Room and board, if you don’t have a place for the eve, is covered…it isn’t fancy, but there’s an economy hotel across the avenue where I myself stay.”

Arcadia leaned across the table to grab one of the datapads and pull up a menu while she viewed it upside down.  “What to think about while you go about things is that in a couple of days, we’ve got our first potential jobs.  There are details absent in there current form, but enough to select what you’d prefer to engage in first.  Consider it a trial run for all of us, and you are certainly not beholden to stay with Stormhammer, but I ask you as professionals to consider if you are going to the arena and using the per diem, that you are on through the completion of at least one of these jobs.

The Escort is a mission where we need to watch a VIP’s daughter.  She needs to get safely to a formal event.  No trouble is expected, but the last group of body guards hired resigned, and with the short notice, the client has struggled to find a team to do the job.

High-End Delivery is another transport mission, so to speak, but we need to assure the delivery of prototype technology hardware for a corporation.  It’s important enough for them to want us to use an armored transport so we’ll need at least one driver for this.  I can cover that as a basic pilot, but if one of you is highly skilled then you should be on the stick.  We’ll also use Kamau, our scout operative, for this job if we decide to do it.

Show Security is more static, but there’s a celebrity band playing a mid-sized concert and we’ll need to fill in as their basic coverage is short.  Here we’ll be coordinating with the band’s own personal guard.  Again, as with the other jobs, there should be no problem but we’re there to make sure it stays that way.

Arcadia backed off from the table. “You met Vihaan Devi on the way in.  He’s a bit of a Jack-of-all-Trades around here, as it stands now, and handles all the company’s technical needs.  If you need something more, you can seek him out in addition to me.  We’ll be here for the day, though after I sort a few things out, I’d like to get down to the Arena with you.  One more item of note:  When we are mission ready, there’s some common equipment, weapons and armor available if you need to cover anything from an armory you don’t have.  Again, nothing fancy so don’t expect to find any Widow sniper rifles in there.  But your covered for ordinance you expend and repair you need, plus stopgap gear.

“Lastly, I don’t know if we can get to any of the other jobs we don’t take first, but there might be some flexibility if the clients can work with us in some.  So if you would, let’s all agree upon which of these jobs we’d like to tackle first either now or by the end of the day.  We can sync our message systems here so we can be in touch with each other, even if we are separated.  In fact, here is my omni-tool’s message address.”  Arcadia activated her omni-tool and read off her information.

"I hate fvcking VIP escorts. They have the highest risk of failure, but they also tend to pay the most," Darya said. "I would like to know why the previous group of escorts resigned, but I assume the client isn't forthcoming with that information."

"Question..." Menos asked as he raised his hand for Cadi to see, before he simply went ahead and asked anyway, "Can we knock the VIP out and take her? Or does she need to remain conscious?" he asked, sounding quite genuine in his question.

"We're late!", Chris said with a grumpy voice which caused Naomi to smirk. "If you wouldn't need so much time to do your hair..."

His sister just laughed at him. "It took you so long to get up that I had enough time to try something new with it, that's all. Besides, you should sleep more so you wake up in time."

Chris snarled and tried to stifle a yawn. "Maybe you shouldn't sleep in my bed. I told you that I pay the rent and in return you get the couch to sleep on. It's not my fault that we don't have the money for a bigger flat."

Naomi grinned. "You could have thrown me out of your bed if it was that important to you!"

Although Chris didn't want to admit it, after he had seen her sleeping in his bed he just couldn't wake her up again. The couch in the living room of their apartment was a bit small but still comfortable enough to sleep on. The thing that had kept him awake had been the thought of joining the stormammers. Of course such a decision was easy for Naomi; whenever she got the chance to shoot someone it was hard to prevent her from doing so and being a mercenary was certainly a good way to find enemies to shoot at. At least that's how his sister saw it.

They entered the building where the meeting was going to be. "Don't be that pessimistic", Naomi said to her brother. "We're only a few minutes late, what do you think are they going to do?"

With a sigh Chris followed her. As always she was right about what she said. And he recognized that she actually didn't lie about trying something new with her hair. Instead of letting her black hair with the green and white strands fall over her shoulders she had bound some of it to a loose ponytail while the rest hung left and right of her face. It must have taken Naomi quite some time to do it which showed him how long it had taken him to get up from the sofa. He was just glad that he didn't need to do his hair at all, it was short enough to leave it as it was.

Chris was wearing a simple, grey t-shirt and a black jeans while Naomi had a white tanktop that bared the bandages around her left shoulder and forearm, comfortable, dark grey trousers and white, heavily armored boots. Naomi was certainly the only person he knew who could casually wear parts of her armor without looking like an idiot.

But despite their different hairstyles and clothes it was astonishing how similar their outer appearance was. Chris was only slightly higher, they both had the same warm face, the same green eyes with the same honest look, even their movement was very similar. It was hard to not immediately see that they were twins, or at least siblings.

When they both entered the room Arcadia just started to talk so they hadn't missed anything important. While the blue haired woman spoke Chris had problems to follow her words while constantly feeling the need to yawn loudly.

In the meantime Naomi was paying attention to what Arcadia telled them. "High risk sounds good to me", she said to Darya. With a nod in Menos' direction she added: "And his idea would make things much easier to handle."

"I understand how you feel," Arcadia said with a smirk, not missing a beat as she slid a datapad and several tickets to each twin, "But I think we want to leave our client with a good impression.  This I will tell you:  the VIP mission is paying the same as the others.  It is good money when considering the allotted time spent and being local.  But as far as pay is concerned, each is equal.  So I say other considerations are more important."

For the observant, they caught a glimpse of the tattoo on the inside of Arcadia's right forearm as being some sort of classical artwork mural.  When she notices someone looking, she turns her arm over.

"Well, it's hard to tell which of these assignments bear greater risks since there's no trouble expected at all. So no matter what mission we do first, our job will be to make sure everything stays calm." Chris spoke loudly but his words were especially addressed to his sister. He knew that she wanted to do the most dangerous mission.

She understood what he was trying to tell her and just shrugged her shoulders. "I don't think that it will matter what assignment we choose if the risk and the payment is the same. But I'd stick for the escort mission, it sounds interesting." By crossing her arms she showed that she wasn't going to change her opinion.

"By the way, nice tattoo", Naomi said to Arcadia. "I wanted a tattoo as well but I don't think I'll need one since I got this now." She waved with her bandaged arm. With her right hand she raised the mull a bit to see how the skin beneath looked like. "Hmmm", she let out with disgust. "I don't think this will look as good as your tattoo."

"Direct, I like that," Arcadia said without looking at first towards Naomi.  Then the quick dart of her eyes that was becoming a familiar quirk, she added, "To better times, for all of us."

Immediately swinging back into business, she spoke to Chris, "You are right, there will be plenty of time for action, no sense in rushing it.  Besides, none of these jobs is for falling asleep at the switch.  We have never done anything together before, and as useful as the Arena will be, I selected the group for roughly equal risk as well, and to give us some room to feel each other out.  We're all skilled people, but I wouldn't say we'll perfectly know what we each are doing until we spend some time learning each other.  At least that was what I had in mind when looking for good jobs we could take."

Kurik was still having second thoughts about Stormhammer.  His issue wasn't with the management.

Complaints...

Tardiness...

Ridiculously idiotic questions...

He looked between the others.

"We're all skilled people, but I wouldn't say we'll perfectly know what we each are doing until we spend some time learning each other."

Perhaps she's right.

Kurik was a professional, used to working with professionals. Although many of his former co-workers were less than decent people, they were at least serious when it came to business. Maybe the case would be the same with this group?

"I assume this is common place?" Becks quietly asked herself.

"To answer the question about the VIP client and why the resignation of the previous escort...," Arcadia started, then stopped as the LOKI mech with the green LED light started talking.  She listened and her eyebrows got screwy.  "I...a message?  Going to...one moment.  I'm sure we could speak to the client about the other escort, but that would indicate an interest to take the job.  So I would be careful about how we set up our expectations with the conversation.  I can get you in touch with the client if you'd like to make the call, if we can resolve the conflict it seems we have in taking on the mission.

Cadi turned back to the mech.  "And back to that, message...?  I...go ahead, I suppose?"

Something kept clawing at Darya's mind. It had to do with that escort. "You know, Cadi, that escort mission. It's simply escorting the VIP's daughter to a formal event, right? Sounds simple. The problem with the mission is not the daughter. She's probably innocent. It's probably her father who is into something and really pissed off someone or some group, and that's why she needs protection. During transport she'll probably be targeted for kidnapping," Darya said. "Even if we are there, she is not going to make it to the formal event. We'll end up taking her somewhere safe. If her father is not honorable, he could turn this around and say we kidnapped his daughter. It would be very Russian. This is why we need more details. If he is a good honorable man, I think we should do this."

"Operative Kursk is currently deceased this unit would like to take his place. this unit is currently combat ready and has been upgraded. " the Loki unit said. "Battarian Kursk was this units former owner. this unit is currently tasked with mission protocall file "Make cash Bountyhuntin." in order to continue this mission this unit must become its own owner. "Okay, this is yours, right?" Arcadia pointed to the mech and asked Becks.  "It's fine with me if it comes along as long as you watch out for it.  Maybe being stuck in this office is getting a bit to my head.  The paperwork can be saved for later, and Vihaan will stay hear for anyone who wants to stick around.  Let's try to decide what to do by the end of the day so I can get back to the clients.  It sounds like we're leaning toward the VIP contract if..."  She looked to Darya. "...if we can resolve some questions."

Arcadia checked her omni-tool briefly for messages and updates.  None were forthcoming so she turned it off again and said, "I'll head to the Armax Arsenal Arena now and anyone who wishes to do the same is welcome along.  If you've got a preference for a simulation, let's talk about it on the way."  Cadi then gathered herself to head out.

"Okay," Arcadia said to the mech, "I am not sure exactly who you belong to.  Are you saying you had an owner named Kursk?  A batarian?"

Cadi was about to call Vihaan in to take a look at the mech which she though clearly had something wrong with it.

"Anybody want to claim responsibility for their LOKI mech in here?  Somebody's got to or cute as he is I'm going to have to have Vihaan take him to C-Sec and find out why there's a mech wandering around the Citadel...speaking of which I have half a mind to ask him in here as to why he let it in..."

Chris nodded to Becks. "I'm glad you took it. For me, a twin sister is already enough."

"Ha ha... Honestly, I prefer you being bad-tempered!", Naomi said and then looked at the LOKI mech. "What are we supposed to do with it? Let it clean all the rooms? Let it make us food? Maybe it can be quite entertaining..." For a second Naomi wanted to go over to the mech and knock against its head to see how it would react but instead she just shrugged her shoulders.

"If you want to go to the arena, I'm in", Chris said to Arcadia. "And I think my sister won't miss it as well."

Arcadia's eyes began feeling like they were going to cross.   "Let's not worry about this now.  Obviously, this LOKI is a bit...unusual.  Vihaan will put it through a security examination and find out what is going on with the mech.  If it really isn't owned by anyone and had no claim, which would be very  unusual but I suppose not entirely unheard of, we'll get it up to spec and Becks can handle it.  So...mech...I don't even know what to call you...report to the salarian you passed on your way in here and he'll do what he needs to with you.  Anyone, or everyone else, let's get to the Armax Arena.  We can do introductions and exchange basic contact information on the way."

On the way to the Armax Arsenal Arena, Darya leaned over to Arcadia. "You know that the Council prohibits any artificial intelligence. The mech appears to be demonstrating some sort of free will, and earning credits? They have no rights under Council Law," Darya reminded her. "Your organization is a start up and you do not need to be fighting legal battles especially at this juncture. Things could get very complicated. Is something to think about."

"It will be all right," Arcadia said without thinking much about it, other than she noticed the LOKI follow Becks instead of listening to her instructions to see Vihaan.  "See, it all ready linked up to follow instructions with Becks the moment she gave it one.  Besides, AI in that little clunker brain?"  Cadi chuckled, "I think it is quite correct in assessing it's virtual intelligence.  It is actually, a bit cute and I have to admit, entertaining."
