Ok so this is my second Templar and they have both been S n S.  I hear a lot of people talking about this combo 1 shotting enemies.  For me it does VERY GOOD damage but I wouldn't say one shots enemies that are my level from 100% to 0%.  I would say it regularly hits a mob for 2k non crit.  Granted I was using a 218 dps 1hander until level 17.  I just got Song of the Marshes (296 dps) and just got to zones that have tier 3 mats.  Is it because I am S n S so my weapon damage isn't as large as say a 2handed Templar?  I know spell purge is based on weapon damage.  I haven't rolled a 2handed Templar yet ( I will).

 

PS I am playing on Nightmare.

Templar wrath/purge combo one-shotting is from 2H templars.  It scales with weapon damage (not the dps, but the damage).

Note that ability damage is based on the base damage amount of the weapon, not its DPS. Speed of the weapon does not affect ability damage. So daggers have low ability damage despite the highest DPS in the game. That is why daggers often have multiple hits involved in their abilities. 2H weapons have the best base damage and so their abilities hit harder. DPS is really just a measure for non-ability damage output. Something to keep in mind.

 

But yes S&S is really more for a tank player or moderate DPSer with damage mitigation. If you are looking to be the big damage dealer of the party as a warrior you should probably be going 2H and let someone else do the primary tanking.

Thanks. I've been playing bioware/other rpgs for a while. I know as S N S I'm taking a hit in dps for survival I was just making sure I wasn't missing something lol

Its too bad you cant swap weapons mid fight. image unleashing a wrath combo then swapping to sns to wait for cooldown.
