I'd love to get a rachni companion. Seriously why, only humanoid companions all the time?
Minor Characters from the Shepard Trilogy as Companions in ME4

If Bioware were to go a similar route with ME:Next as they did in DA2 and DA:I, by making minor characters from previous games companions (Merrill and Isabela in DA2 and Cassandra in DA:I), who would you like to see? This is of course assuming that the next game either takes place during the Reaper War or within a period after, when all characters from the Shepard trilogy would still be living.
To be clear I'm not necessarily advocating Bioware go that route, I just thought it might be fun to speculate on which minor characters from ME1 through ME3 could make a good squadmate in ME:Next.
Shiala would probably be my first pick if not for her determinant status. As much as I think it would be fun to have her return as a squadmate in the next, the fact that she is killable in ME1 would probably rule her out. I'm not sure it would be possible to come up with a satisfactory way of addressing that determinant status if she were brought back.
My second choice, and one that would be much easier to implement, would be Tazzik from the comics. For those that are unfamiliar with the comics, Tazzik is an enforcer and assassin for the Shadow Broker. He's also the Gregor Clegane of Salarians. (in terms of size, not temperament)
not gonna happen. They want to distance themselves from the original games as much as possible... the Bioware is doing a reboot

Nah, I would want new characters. The old may return like let's say Primarch Vakarian, Admiral Zorah, Shadow Broker and etc. But as I have said, new companions with new ship.
But I could always use a Biotic God.

It's already been confirmed that ME:Next isn't a reboot, as we were told Shepard isn't in it. A reboot would be something along the lines of what JJ Abrams did with Star Trek.

I'd believe it if old members would return to give more in depth story telling. If not... no connection at all... then it's like Final Fantasy XIII all elements are present but no connection with XV at all or in anyway

I forgot her name, but the asari that helped you track down Thane on his recruitment mission. She was feisty.

Kal'Reegar. Retcon that he killed everything and escaped tha turian comm relay via a rocket lawn chair named Vera or whatever.
We already got a ladyquarian hacking shite. Now we need a manquarian to blow things up.

I'd like to see some minor characters, like (although not minor) Kirrahe, one of the asari from Thessia (like the lady who was outpost Tykis), maybe Primarch Victus. Set it between ME1 and ME2

I was under the impression that the commandos Shepard met after landing were KIA. I guess it doesn't really matter that much though, since you meet one commando, you've kind of met them all. You could just have some asari that fought on Thessia whenever anyway.

That was my impression as well. It seemed like the unit was overrun and destroyed.
But I think they still could get away with having a character survive it. She'd basically be the Asari Ashley, as far as background.

Arise, dead thread!
Rather than create a new topic I thought i'd just give this one a bump. With it now more or less confirmed that ark theory is happening, would you want any characters from the Shepard trilogy to make it aboard?

If anything it should be Liara but I hope they just keep it clean slate.
Liara is the best!

not likely to happen, andromeda is happening a lot of time after original ME trilogy remember?
though some little cameos with long lived species asaris/krogan would have been nice
but since they don't want to give a canon ending to MET, we probably won't ever know what happened to all our squadmates/friends & shepard (the N7 trailer had a femShep voice cameo but we don't know if it's canon & when this has been recorded)

Setting ME:A in hundreds or thousands of years after the original trilogy would be the best.
Why? One of the reasons is that the original is tarnished by "the ending."
ME:A should seem like a distant-future reboot.

I doubt we'll see any, but if we could I have a soft spot for Kirrahe. Sadly he died for me in ME3 but he was awesome. He was a really nice contrast to Mordin's scientist Salarian, and kinda cool.
I would also say one of the female turians....but wait, there was only one, and she died, so..... ![]()

It's a funny thing, when I think of Dragon Age there are so many characters from all 3 games with potential. But Mass Effect? It's really tough for me to come up with anyone.

dont think i'd like to see minor characters from the original trilogy become companions in the new trilogy. like ArcadiaGrey said, there arent many minor characters who have potential to become major characters in mass effect.
at the same time, if you think about it, why would the pathfinder in ME:A happen to run into a minor character from the previous trilogy? a minor character would never be chosen to be a part of whatever mission the pathfinder will be going on.
i'm quite interested in the alleged brunette that we will be meeting.
ergo, i want new characters and new squadmates. also if i want to play with characters from the original trilogy, i'd just play the original trilogy. i dont want this to be simply Bioware trying to re-do the original trilogy. nope.
i want a new game.

I haven't heard that rumor.
What are the details on that? Is she a rumored squadmate?

I think the ark would have been launched prior to ME3, as all resources left after the Reaper attack would be focused on fighting them rather than building a ship to escape them. So realistically, any returning characters would have to have been from ME1 or ME2 and NOT appear in ME3. Asari and krogan would be easiest with the long life, but if the ark has cryogenic freezing, theoretically any species would be plausible.
I can't think of any notable characters from the first two games who aren't either potentially dead or referenced in ME3, though. I think the trilogy really tried to wrap up all loose character threads, unlike the DA universe which knowingly keeps some characters dangling to potentially bring them into new games.
