So I bought the humble bundle pack because it was such a great deal.

I've played KOTOR maybe 10 times through.

And yet, I'm still amazed how much I love this game and how easy it is to get addicted.

I'm torn on if I'm going to play KOTOR 2. I looked at the wikia page and I even forgot a ton of the characters. Such a let down after a great first game.

Are you serious ? You won't regret the second game, trust me. If you want a deep personal story, it's the game for you. While the first the game was fantastic, the second is just at another level. :P

I can see some of the arguments that have been levelled at KotOR 2 over the years, but it's still a seriously good game.

I can't imagine anyone who loves the first one not also liking the second one. And it does, be fair, improve the gameplay here and there, add a couple of very useful new feats and has much better villains. (Malak is a bit of a cardboard cut-out, after all - He serves the purpose he's intended for in the first game's story, but Kreia, Nihilus and Sion and their relationship to each other, makes for a far more interesting situation).

Right, the character development is better in KOTOR I feel and also the story is much more complex. I think the mainly problem KOTOR 2 had is that it was unfinished when it came out. Also the flaws of KOTOR 1 are pretty much always overlooked because it was the original and everybody forgives that. It is actually nice to see someone else pointing out that Malak is about as generic as it can possibly get.

Well, they could've called him Darth Generik, but beyond that...

But since he was a cypher, a focus for Revan's desire to kick the stuffing out of something, he didn't need a backstory to explain why he was a rampaging egocentric, power hungry nutter... or why he'd painted stripes on his head in a feeble and ultimately doomed effort to conceal his premature baldness.

Great purchase!  As for KotOR 2, it took me awhile to "warm up" to it.  Once I did, though, it is another great game, especially if you want to single-handedly rebuild the Jedi (or Sith)  :D

As the others have said, it will leave you wanting a  "next installment", which Bioware's Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game (SW:TOR) kind of fails to satisfy, for me.

Right, took me a while to get into KOTOR 2 as well, it has a very different feel, much darker than the original game and the story is much mroe complex than many other star wars stories. Plus it was unfinished at the time of its release.
