It's taking a while but the landing platform is gradually coming together:

platform1_zpsu9pjssyp.jpg

Even with rescaling the earlier column proved much too large for the 3x5 metatile, so I went in a different direction and decided to keep it consistent with the rest of the Dungeon tileset. The above platform was once a junction with paths leading off in three directions. Two of those (top and upper right) are now damaged beyond repair, leaving only the stairs downward at bottom. I still need to add the upper parts of the five-sided columns, make the grand Undermountain entrance gate, and texture the cavern walls. But it's around 80% done.

It looks awesome RJS. How do you plan to build the area around it. This is perhaps better as a placeable than a tile or are there doors and walls to come?

Yes, the part you don't see is a wide platform at the bottom of the stairs, so at least that part of the wall will be visible. I might use RWS's cavern walls to fill out the surroundings, or just leave it dark. I might add a broken pathway placeable or two to expand on the missing crossways.

Here's the ballista model for the University area battle scene:

ballista_zpswqt9cscd.jpg

How did the grey dwarves carry it up there, I wonder? Maybe they have some Ogre porters?

Nice. Do you need animations?

Not for this usage, but I can send you the model if you want to animate it.

Right then, the lads have their battering ram and they're about to come a knocking.

NWN2_SS_112615_115115_zpsnqfpfkqm.jpg

It's modeled somewhat after Nortenyo's larger orc version, although nowhere near as detailed. Still, it's just for a single cut scene so it should be okay.

I've set this project aside for the moment, but today I spent a little time during lunch thinking about the creature requirements.

These are available in some form:

  • Beast of Malar -> reskin by Kamal
  • Bebilith -> 4760's model
  • Beholder -> Bounce's model
  • Blue/Red Slaad -> 4760's models
  • Bodak -> reskin by DannJ
  • Clay Golem -> model by Schazzwozzer
  • Dracolich -> Model by DannJ or by Arpharazon
  • Drider -> Bounce's model
  • Elder Brain -> 4760's model
  • Flesh Golem -> DannJ's reskin
  • Formian -> 4760s model
  • Ice Troll -> Kamal's model
  • Intellect Devourer -> ArtEChoke model
  • Manticore -> RWS's creature conversion
  • Mimic -> ArtEChoke model
  • Minotaur -> TheOneBlackRider has some minotaur heads, or use Bounce's minotaurs
  • Myrmarch -> 4760s model
  • Rakshasa -> Hellfire's heads should work
  • Spectre -> effect available

so hurray for those!

The following creatures are unavailable and I'll have to figure out replacements. Some can perhaps use existing models. Is anybody interested in trying some of these reskins? The ones in italics I'm stumped at present.

  • Allip -> Perhaps a wraith with a modified skin or effect?
  • Aranea -> A Giant Spider should do
  • Battle Devourer -> Intellect devourer reskin?
  • Beholder Tyrant -> Perhaps a modified beholder?
  • Deva -> aasimar with wings, I guess
  • Cockatrice -> maybe a basilisk?
  • Ettercap
  • Ettin
  • Ghost -> can use an effect
  • Harpy
  • Helmed Horror -> can use the invisible person model
  • Hound Archon
  • Magma/Steam Mephit -> have the first; can build the second
  • Medusa
  • Mephistopheles -> I can always resort to a Balor, I guess
  • Mohrg
  • Mythril Golem -> one of the custom NPCs is a unique-looking golem, so maybe that will work
  • Revenant
  • Shadow Fiend -> should be able to build this
  • Shield Servant -> should be able to build this
  • Shocker Lizard -> reskin of the lizard/dinosaur with an electrical effect?
  • Tyrantfog Zombie -> pretty much a zombie with a gaseous area effect
  • Vrock
  • Winged Elf -> elf with wings added?
  • Wraith Spider -> maybe a giant spider reskin or effect

[*]Medusa[/*]

[*]Wraith Spider -> maybe a giant spider reskin or effect[/*]

Let's see if I can make an animated helmet the same way as animated weapons. If that works, I suppose a medusa is about to be added to the bestiary. If that doesn't work, I suppose I could use the cloak node. It will not take too much longer...

For the wraith spider, I added quite a few on the new vault (http://neverwinterva...rales-et-autres), I hope one of those will fit...

An animated medusa helm would be pretty cool. Most images of a medusa have her with the lower body of a snake though.

For the tyrantfog zombie, you can use either a ghast (since they already have the effect), or the Drowned.

The shadow fiend on the nwn1 wiki looks like you could either use a shadow minus the effect or the nightwalker (since they are the same basic model, just different eye coloration and the nightwalker looks a bit more hunched over), I did white base versions so you can tint to your preference

Vrock: faezressparlkes has shown a vrock in their creature compilation.

Ettercap: also faezressparkles.

Hound Archon: gnoll/thayan gnoll

Revenant: any player race as they are basically normal humanoid looking except for their normally grey skin color. You could use the male vampire model too.

Morhg: a retexture of a skeleton, since the mohrg is basically a skeleton with guts

deva: a human with wings, alternately we have the Solar model.

beholder tyrant: tint a beholder and be done with it.

allip: wraith (I've released white wraiths, so you can tint these guys as you want)

shocker lizard: snake? We have a snake model.

shield servant: unsure what they look like but how about invisible human with a shield, like the animated armors we have.

cockatrice: scaled down wyvern would look very much like one, also I've done retint versions of the wyvern.

harpy: there is a good quality harpy for nwn1 that PhoD did this month. It could be converted. Alternately, the stirge model (because it flies).

Ah, no. That's not happening any time soon now, if ever.

Hmm, maybe a small deinonychus? They're small creatures.

An animated medusa helm would be pretty cool.

Further to the first tests I made, I'm afraid a helm cannot be animated the same way as the hand held items (I moved the slot from head to hand in baseitems.2da, and I got the animation. Switching back to head slot, I only got a hat). Still looking...

If anyone gets a kick-ass dracolich done, I'd love to use it... Very necessary for my campaign.

I decided to revisit the dungeon tileset and continue adding tile variants. There are now a bunch of recessed tiles (shown below), which will allow a giant pool filled with a bubbling acid... and maybe other things.

dungeon1_zpsouxr4bo5.jpg

I happen to like corridors and rooms that are not just rectangular grid style, so here's a diagonal corner piece that allows me to build a diamond-shaped room. At right is the first metatile addition, a diagonal jog to the left.

More to come...

Okay, it's water filled... but kind of bland looking. What would you suggest in terms of making it look acidic and dangerous?

Waterfall effects. The splashes. Take one and customizes it; turn it green, etc. Maybe make a few different hues for variation. Place at the right height, should look satisfying.

There's a hot springs effect that I use in several places, with steam, an agitated surface, and bubbles.  Those could also be tinted green for the acid effect.

Green coloration is the video game visual shorthand for acid. Might I suggest yellow or orange as well (for sulphurous acids or just visual variety). As others have said, bubbles and the waterfall splashes also make a good visual cue for "acid". The waterfall vfx I released recently had a nice bubble effect, and there's some stock bubbling vfx.

Here's a little montage of new dungeon tile variants:

fig05_zpsplztodhi.jpg

Clockwise from upper left: (1) I needed a riser for connecting with the lowered tiles, so here's a hall staircase; (2) a door-to-door crossing tile; (3) a semi-diagonal corner for making octagonal rooms; and (4) a curved corner for making round rooms. (In the bottom two I forgot to include the bottom column... ah well.)

That's making a huge improvement to an already very nice set. Look forward to playing with them at some point :)

Thanks. Yes, it's a really nice set. I'm debating what else to add; maybe some pits along the sides, a couple of tunnel openings, and some stacks of blocks? A few more metatiles could be useful as well.

Yes, more ideas to fit the theme would be welcome.
