I really am not liking this version of Mass Effect. The first one was great I just don't get the same immersion playing this 2nd version.

I like this one better than Mass Effect 1. It feels more fluid and handles a lot better.

This a common thin -- people are always used to how they first did/played it. Something new shakes them up all the time.

You just have to get used to BioWares style of pacing. I had to give Dragon Age 2 weeks. I damn near traded it in. Then, once I got to the meat of the story, it was one of the best games I had ever played. Just give it a little time.

I'd say something trite, like "give it time."

Actually, I guess I just did say that.

I didn't feel immersed (I hate that word *sigh*) in ME1 either, until I got a feel for what was going on. Collect my team, have some idea of the world we're in, etc. Once I knew who I was, where I stood, then I began to feel a sense of ownership. Then it became personal.

ME2 isn't like that (personal, I mean) for me yet. I need to own the part, as we used to say in the theatre. SO I'll...yup...give it time.

Im definitely liking it, theres just certain changes that seem like rather than making the game more fluid, they've made it less. Also, the autosave really f-ed my day up. I got one squadmate, continued to the citadel, and was doing mah thang there, then went to get another squadmate, but died mid mission. where was my last save? the middle of the mission pre citadel. Jumping jupiter batman, I nearly kicked my sharpei in my rage.

I'm about 5 hours in and all I've done thus far is explore the wards and visited the crash site.

I'm so much in love with this game. Just give it some time. :)

I switched the controls back to the original controls and felt right at home, the planet exploration for minerals is a bit tedious but other than that liking it

Funnily enough I feel more immersed and connected to the world in this sequel. My decisions actually mattered, my character, and the characters from the previous games have evolved. Garrus and Tali especially impressed me on how they have changed.

I've been feeling it, I've been feeling it severely!

I really love the new FPS aspect of it, but I seriously HATE the power mechanism. I hate games that give you multiple powers but won't allow you to activate them at the same time (you could say OP, but that's the fun). The very reason people want to play wizards and the like is because they want to be able to throw a fireball and then a lightning bolt right after - to rain down destruction after destruction. Imagine how lame it would be for a Jedi to raise someone up with Force Choke, and then have to go, "Oh let me count it down, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, oh now I can finally use Force Push". Not cool.

Even though each power now have a very low recharge time compared to the original, I'd rather have the original's recharge time and be able to dish out multiple powers at the same time.

Again, I really love the FPS improvement of ME 2, but sort of feel that in terms of quests ME 2 is a bit...hollow - not in terms of depth, but number. By the time I'm done running around doing quests for my squad members, I'm already ushered on to do the main quest (and they CAN'T wait), and then after that's done I go on to do personal quests again and then I'm pushed onto the next main plot quest. By the time I'm done with the game, all I've done are personal quests and the few quests that are set in Illium, Citadel, Tun..blablabla, and Omega (in Bioware's defense, they had the same number of quests set in "cities" as in ME 2, so that number is fine for me).

Now, granted, there are still a number of quests you gain from planet exploration, and I do love the personal quests, I just feel like after the game is done (and I'm being pushed to get it done), all I've done are running around doing errands for OTHER team mates instead of whatever Commander Shepard choose to do.

Anyways, regardless, ME 2 is still a great game, those are just some gripes I have about it. Anyone else feel the same?

I like the sidequests, but the power recharge is really getting to me. Really weakens biotics. On the other hand, reave and shockwave work well between Shepard and a squadmate.

I like the recharge, especially later on in the game.

Before it was "bonk, bonk bonk, pew pew pew". Now its "bonk, pew, bonk, splat, pew pew, bonk"

quite a disappointment so far, imo. i was expecting all the great aspects of ME1 to be improved upon, instead it feels watered down and sometimes downright annoying. I'll keep playing. Been playing vanguard and so far after playing 5+ hours i just feel more and more disappointed with this character and his abilities. I mean you can't even use charge some places. And when you do, you charge into a huge group which means certain death before charge recharges again to get you to safety. All around experience so far with this game has been disappointing and annoying.
