PC, Mouse and Keyboard and other complaints:

The Bad:

1. Where are the real tactics from previous games? The current AI is not done well enough to negate the loss of customized tactics.

2. Camera Modes. I have found I must stay in action mode all the time. Switching between camera's is cumbersome. The iso camera points down, it does not zoom out enough and is buggy. It gets stuck on/in things far too many times. I gave up on it. Having to hold down a key or button the entire time in either mode needs to go as well.

3.Mouse cursor is too small and the color is not good. I find myself pausing way more than needed do to *busy* combat fireworks and terrain. Many areas are dirt/sand and the cursor just disappears.

4. Sometimes the cursor disappears in dialogue usually when one or more cutscenes happen in a row. It's not often but it's not so rare I can dismiss it easily.

5. Not impressed by the combat choices. Mages are lacking a lot, KE possible exception, the rest of the specailizations are underwhelming. Rogue archers don't really have a good fit except with the possible articifer spec.
For warriors champion is solid but the rest are either not impressive or too *busy* (ie., templar spec). Regular mage spells/trees have been streamlined too much methinks. Necromancer is quest breakingly buggy too.

6. Limited ability slots needs to go for SP. I don't care about MP. I was planning on trying it with friends later but not now. Having 7 slots available is a terrible idea. (Mark of the rift should have had its own special slot somewhere).

7. 2 potions per party member, 3 with upgrade is not really good for some people.

8. Timed content is bad. Many in my circle of friends really REALLY detest timed things. The winter palace could have been so great but alas

9. Body models in the races need work I think. Now I loved the skyhold outfit only wished I could recolour the parts of it. However then I tried other races. I abandoned my female and male dalish when I got to skyhold. The cutscences played and they looked wrong.
They are near skeletal, too skinny. I can't take them serious for a warrior or even a rogue archer/dw. No muscle! (or curves for female) The heads seem out of proprotion to the rest of the body, the male is the worse. It's like he has no shoulders, his arms sink in the sides and his breasts were larger than his shoulders! Yes, I'm talking about the male.

The human female noble could also use some muscles to the arm. Noodle arms do not make a good RP experience for warriors/rogues. The body models for male human, female Qunari and female dwarf look good in armor or skyhold outfit. Maybe allow armor option to be worn in skyhold. Would help the elf players I think since I doubt the body models will be revisited.

10. Hairstyles are not good at all. Where are my braids for my dwarves! I just don't like 20 types of bald, shaved, half shaved, sideburns for my PC's. The qunari have it the worse. I played a hornless one because it was so bad. And then I still couldn't wear a helm! argh.

11. CC lighting. It is still bad. We need better lighting. My first female I abandoned due to makeup looking ok in CC lighting, then stepping outside to look up at breach only to see she looks like a clown. Just ugh.

12. Need to add a store dlc that sells all the schematics in the game at extreme prices. There was this one t3 bow schematic I got in 1 out of 15 playthroughs that I loved. Also some games have gotten no or only two/three mage/rogue/warrior rings drop for the entire game, its like it picks one class for the entire playthrough and says no you can't have any! The rng in currently cruel. sniff

13. Need storage!

14. Companions need feather falling buff. Countless times they would fall down a small slope behind me or just appear and of course use a potion to heal. Very bad. Of course when they push me off a cliff is bad too. lol

15. How could I forget this! Please muzzle the camp's requistion officer! She has interupted 4 banters, 1 was an interactive one that I may NEVER see! I get so little banter as-is I feel like I'm exploring the work solo, I don't need less. Thanks.

The Good:

The level designers, writers and artists (except where noted above) should be patted on the back and given raises. Outstanding work. I loved the huge maps, hissing wastes is awesome. Emerald graves is also fantastic except angry rocks area. I even enjoyed the storm coast greatly. I know some people did not do to *no main story* but the areas did have enough story and atmosphere for some of us.

The critters, monsters, armor, weapons all look fantastic. The crafting is loads of fun. The one negative on crafting is my character and team all look like dreamsicle fans later on as all the best upgrades makes us orange and white. ugh

Just a note some of the above *bad* things were not mine, just my circle of friends. Like the potions while I agree with the complaint its not that big a deal for me personally.

I wanted BW and the game to do well. I SPENT several hundred dollars buying the game for family and friends. Guess what? Every single one of them abandoned the game within a week. All PC M+K users. That should say enough. And no I will not play with a controller so those that want to suggest that forget it. Some of my friends do play with controllers on the consoles they own but for RPG's, RTS, TBS etc., is best on PC for us. Which also means with M+K.

I know some things may be fixed with patches but with only a skeleton crew left and everyone pushed to new IP/ME4 I fear DAI won't get the love be it patches/dlc/expansions it deserves.

Just my 2 cents. If you want the entire dollar that will take several days to type up.

Cheers,

FD

Just so you know, Patch 5 (which is in beta at the moment,) is going to have the Black Emporium return.  This will include a way to change your appearance (probably another Mirror of Transformation) and a storage chest.  :)

I'm not trying to dismiss the rest of your post, as I find myself mostly agreeing with your points.

I never had trouble once I plugged in an Xbox 360 controller for my PC. I have a feeling this game was made more for consoles than our beloved PC. Other than that, I agree with all you've said, but wait for patch 5!

Thanks for the patch news. Is it coming soon or a long way off? Anyone know? If it can help with M/K issues as well as mirror/storage that would be fantastic!

There are currently beta testers testing it for us. We should have news soon! I think storage was also mentioned.

You should be able to change the mouse cursor size now, in options. The default is now known as 'small'.

About the lighting in the CC. I don't think it's wrong there...it's wrong almost everywhere else. Why do I think so? Because of the teeth of my dracolisk!

No, seriously. If you have one of those, try the following: go to the center of the Redcliffe refugee camp, the road next to the merchant. This is one of the few places with normal lighting, and the dracolisk teeth should look normal.

Return to Skyhold and jog over to the stables. For me, the dracolisk's teeth look like a MS Paint job here (and not just here, in many places). There has to be something odd going with the shader and/or lighting there, and it might affect the look of our characters too.

Yeah, me and many in my...um, triangle of friends agree. Never understood the point of timed games/missions. If gamers had any sense of urgency, we wouldn't be wasting so much of our time playing video games.

The current version of the game already allows you to resize your mouse cursor.

As for when Patch 5 will be available, no one knows. I don't think Bioware even knows.

  1. It's streamlined, which is a shame I agree.
  2. I agree, but what do you mean by holding down button? No need to hold down buttons in Tactical mode, and Auto attack will make a return in patch 5 soon.
  3. Mouse cursor size option is available in the options menu.
  4. Not familiar with this one. Does it reappear when you move it? Do you play in fullscreen or windowed mode?
  5. I find it very similar to DA2 which I liked. KE is way to overpowered in my opinion, and the Necromancer is bugged.
  6. Completely agree.
  7. I agree.
  8. Sure I can see that, but I personally didn't find it too cumbersome.
  9. The only problem I have is with the elves modeling. Also some armor sets looks strangely obese for some reason, but more armor options would be good.
  10. Totally agree.
  11. Agreed. Too much green going on.
  12. True. Maybe patch 5 can help you though.
  13. Coming. Patch 5
  14. Or better pathfinding.
  15. Heh, true enough.

Patch 5 is currently in beta. Once the beta is over it will be pushed out. We don't know if it will be a simultaneous release with the console versions or if PC comes first.

This, this, this and this. It's unplayable with a mouse and keyboard. I was so upset, I went out and bought a gamepad. Turns out, quite a few of my games are more fun on a gamepad. We live in a world where even Diablo is now a console port.

2 cents... but bioware doesn't think the community can understand cents... Like silver and copper, they're too hard for us to understand!

In all seriousness though, some good points. God I'm sick of solas casting barrier 30 seconds before a fight begins.
