Hi everyone.

I'm on my second playthrough. The first playthrough I recruited the mages at Redcliff (Fiona), and spent most of the game fighting red templars. Also, the Templars on the Storm Coast operation triggered at some point though I can't remember when. That's the operation that opens up the dwarven door to allow you to get to the red lyrium, and the boat to the island the dragon is on. If you don't get that operation you can't do any of that, including finishing Varric's quest.

My question is, since I recruited the templars this time, will I still get that operation? I'm worried because instead of seeing red templars everywhere I now see venitori soldiers. It's like the red templars aren't even in the game. Even the mining operation in Crestwood where they're mining it, the red lyrium isn't there and there are venitori instead.

I'm at level 14 now. Does the operation happen on it's own or do I need to trigger it somehow, or as I fear am I screwed because I recruited the templars?

I've looked online on the Wiki's ect but it doesn't say anything about you must choose the mages.

Many thanks.

You'll still get the quest that opens up the door on the Storm Coast so that you can wipe out the Red Templar operation. I don't remember what triggers it but it will trigger. That quest happens no matter who you side with and it may be triggered by something concerning Varric.  I think that as long as you keep playing the game, it's going to trigger for you soon.  :)

If I'm not mistaken, it triggers simply by progressing through the main quest. Towards the end of the main quest, you will get a notification that the operation is available, at which point you can go to the War Table and start investigating.

And no, it has nothing to do with who you side with.

According to the wiki you have to be level 16 to unlock it.

I thought it was something to do with the Emerald Graves? I remember finding a note about the Storm Coast near Caroll. Possibly.
