I always laugh at the people who claim this movie is Army Propaganda, or propaganda against Muslims.

If that's what you got from the movie, then you clearly didnt watch the movie, or just like to hate on it. If anything the movie shows that war is terrible, and is an interesting character study, about a man who starts off killing a mother and child without hesitation, and near the end, when put in the same situation, nearly broke.

I personally feel the movie is an 8/10. Yeah, sure. It isnt completely accurate, but guess what? It's a movie. No one cares. The main issue I have with it is the poor direction of the action scenes (with the sole exception of the part with the guy who has the power drill)

And just an FYI, I'm not american either. Lebanese Canadian

1/10 they didn't use a real baby for that one scene, you know the one. =]

Seriously though, I took the movie being more about war causing PTSD and that America's veterans should be helped through it.

I'm personally looking forward to the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster, starring an ensemble cast of A-Listers, that deals with the PTSD suffered by the brown skinned people whose weddings keep getting taken out by cruise missiles, resulting in the deaths of their entire extended families.

Won't ever happen lol. Demonisation is a real thing, the less they're seen as people the less people will care when they're bombed.

Good idea, come to think of it, there is hardly any modern war films that take the perspective of the OPFOR.

Probably a side effect of the GWOT.

Grain of salt.

In every war there is collateral damage and innocent people die because of human error, equipment malfunctions, or simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. So I don't doubt that there may have been innocent wedding guests who were killed in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Having said that...it also isn't uncommon for it to be claimed that an airstrike against a legitimate terrorist target killed a bunch of innocent people at a wedding, or something similar. Groups like Al Qaeda or ISIS know they can mine that for sympathy and outrage in the Arab world or among Western peaceniks. Just because someone claims innocent people were killed doesn't necessarily mean that is so.

Agreed, I tend to listen to people like Amnesty or International Red Cross personally.

Anyway it is an emotive and complex subject and I am not looking to argue on the internet, least of all on the bioware forums.

So much hate in this thread.

Now I really want to watch this movie.

Me too. I'm no patriot, but for chrissakes Americans are so cynical that patriotism is met with outright hostility. A lot of liberals are so [Edited] sensitive over this stuff. We can demonize Americans and western culture all day long, but god forbid we form a negative opinion on anyone else. Plus, this guy's career was amazing and he met with a tragic end.

/Rant off.

10/10 Would watch, but I don't think there are enough Middle-Eastern A-list actors in Hollywood.

I feel you bro.

Even though I strongly dislike the current administration and I lean more toward Mordor, I am proud to be 'Murican.
