If Krem Being born Female, but see's himself as male likes men sexually, doesn't that make him not gay?

Jeez Krem does my head in..

Yeah, if Krem was attracted to men, then he would see himself as a gay man.  He'd be interested in men, but would identify as a man.  He would likely be looking for a bisexual or gay man, as most straight guys would not be interested in a relationship with someone who presents himself and identifies as a male.  The reality is, though, that some gay men are not interested in transmen because they lack (without hormone therapy and/or surgery) the body that they look for in a partner.  Conversely, Krem (if he were gay) would almost certainly not be interested in a straight guy who was attracted to him but saw him as a "butch girl" since he doesn't identify as a woman.  If he were a LI in the game, he'd be an option for straight women and/or gay men.  Does that make sense?

Krem's orientation isn't known in game. There are a couple of ambiguous remarks that could be interpreted as him being straight and, if you get the banter w/ Bull and Cole another that could be interpreted as Krem being bi or pan but, it's very ambiguous and subtle so, it remains unknown and, up to each of us to decide for ourselves.

What's the subtle bi/pan comment?  I've not heard that mentioned yet, so I'd be interested in hearing it.

Excuse my ignorance but what is the difference between bisexual and pansexual?

I don't think I have ever spoken to Krem, so didn't even realise he was born as a woman. I thought it was just an error in the voice overs that they had had him voiced by a woman.

Any more than a straight guy not being attracted to every woman doesn't make him a bigot either.

Pretty sure the feminists would disagree.

I'm still not clear on the difference between bisexual and pansexual myself.  I had originally thought that bisexual people were interested in males and females, but pansexual people were also interested gender fluid, genderqueer, and trans people as well (basically people who don't identify as the gender associated with their biological sex).  But recently I've seen board members post that this isn't the case, so now I'm not really sure anymore.

Krem is Krem.  Who really cares what Krem wants or desires but Krem?  I want to leave this at "it is just a game" but I'll go a bit further...

If I should ever meet a person like Krem in RL ya know what.....nothing changes.  Krem is Krem and whatever Krem wants or desires is none of my business.

Bisexual means attracted to men and women, specifically.

Pansexual means attraction regardless of gender... which includes transgenders or people who consider themselves genderless, etc.

Does that mean that if you are attracted to transgender people you can't personally identify as straight, gay or even bisexual?

Why is it technical?  Why do people want to put a label on others?  I think it says far more about those who wish to apply those labels than those who might have such labels applied.

People are people.  Get over it.

Edit - Vanth....does it matter?

You can personally identify yourself as whatever the hell you want.

Anyhow, I regret posting in this thread.. as this sort of discussion becomes tiresome and really not worth my time, considering how late it is here.

Carry on.

You can personally identify any way that you wish, I think.  It's no one else's place to tell anyone how they should self-identify.  I identify as gay, but I've been attracted to several transguys that I've known.  Doesn't change the way I identify.  Do you.

Some people get really wrapped up in labels.  I don't have any problem with that, provided that they don't enforce those labels onto other people.  I think people should respect other people's labels, but not label other people, if that makes sense?  As in, "If you tell me that you are a pansexual man, then that's cool with me even if you were born a female and only date men.  No skin off my back.  But don't tell me that I can't be the way that I identify because of reasons that I don't care about."

My apologies then, sir.  I care not for any arguments along these lines as I am outside of the subject being discussed.  I merely attempt to defend those who might feel misunderstood at best or ridiculed and shunned as is usually the case.

As I say people are people...for better or worse.

edit - @Precursor...nice one  :)

Perhaps I am just insensitive to the plight of transgender people but I just don't understand what the issue is here, you look down between your legs and you either have a penis or a vagina and this should be a fairly clear indication of what your gender is, the real question here is why do these people lament the gender they were born as and seek to be changed and identified as the opposite gender? What is it about their thought processes that make these people feel like they were born the wrong gender? Is it societal factors and stigmas that suggest that certain traits an individual may identify with should belong to members of the opposite gender? Is it that somehow the notion got into their head that their current gender is somehow unnatural or inferior and must be healed of this supposed sickness? Or is it because they believe and are constantly under the impression that they have a vagina but whenever they drop their pants and look between their legs they see some sort of weird alien parasite growing there and it completely freaks them out? I am not trying to be insensitive here, I am merely trying to understand the factors that lead to a person believing they were born the wrong gender.

While I know bringing up the issue is a good way to get the thread locked I say Bioware did bring it up as an issue in their latest game so that makes it a fair point for discussion within the game's forums provided we can do so in a polite and respectful manner, it would help us to understand why Krem exists as a character in the Dragon Age universe instead of just for the sake of Bioware being able to push the agenda of "hey guys look at ass being all cool and tolerant and stuff!".

You are absolutely right, I never claimed to get it and I would be the first to acknowledge that I don't get it which is why I was hoping somebody would enlighten me?

There's a lot of information about the topic available to you. If someone wants to educate you, that's cool, but why take up someone else's time when you could just Google the topic?

Easy answer to this - what another person thinks when you are not concerned is none of your business.

I do not truly understand it either but what I do know is that it is best to let someone find whatever makes them happy.  And once they find that happiness simply be accepting of it.

I thought it would be more simple to show you with picture and comics how these persons feel. Asked the author to fix the first comic so it would be english instead. These characters all have different perceptions about gender identity and sexuality, some of them are kids, some of them are teenagers, some of them are adults. Basically what you got between your legs for trans people doesn't define their gender identity. It's all part of chromosomes differences, chemicals reacting differently in their organism plus their own psychology. To be more accurate, they just KNOW they are who they are because screw cisgenders' logic who can't comprehend what it means to be transgender, right? What I'm trying to say is that, to them it feels normal even though cisgender people don't understand how it feels to be stuck in a body that doesn't identify to what they believe they are. Then again, there are plenty of trans people out there who don't believe they are stuck, that believe that people just interpret their body and their personality wrong. There are many sorts of trans people out there. It's not always black and white.
