I remember having a good debate about this at another forum with a very learned educated gay man.

 

He told me, he doesn't buy being gay and lesbian is mainly genetic. He did the research over his lifetime and determined that its at best partially genetic and the rest is choices we make that lead to other choices, what we're exposed to, certain events in our lives, how we were raised, what we believe in or not, and other factors we haven't discovered yet and may never discover. I agree with this guy 100%.

 

Some will say we are born that way and some will say no we aren't.

 

But you have to respect everyones view and opinion about this hot topic.

 

I still think having an option would be a great idea and that gameplay would be unique to each person's play through.

 

Anyway, that's my 2 cents on the topic.

 

 

Who knows what DA4 will being anyway? Could be romanceless and MMO?

 

 

And a lot of my favorite tv shows and movies have had gay and lesbian leads, but that's nothing new to me either. Same with gay and lesbian co workers, nothing new to me either.

 

Jim Parson's from Big Bang theory is my fav character and do I care that he is gay? No.

 

Ian McKellen is my fav actor of all time but do I care he is gay? No.

 

I can go on and on.

so you don't care that the talent behind a character is gay, so long as the character itself isn't gay? I'm seriously asking.

I still can't figure out what problem this is supposed to solve. You get the same cost that DA2's all-bisexual approach imposed with a toggle on top.

(I figured someone ought to take the OP seriously every couple of pages.)

I'm guessing it's a way for the OP to get rid of all teh gay in his game, whilst giving other players the option  to keep things the way they are or change theirs the way they see fit. I think OP thought by giving everybody the option to not remove non-straightness from their own game there would be no backlash.

 

Unfortunately for OP, people recognise it's a disguised "Can I only have straight people in my game?" thread

Not even that. It's because he wanted to romance Sera with his male Inquisitor and instead of complaining about it he came up with his "solution" and hide under the guise of being constructive.

Too bad that guise didn't last long.  By page 2 he was accusing folks of flaming and trolling him.  I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt to start with.  For some, that really is an innocent question from a newcomer.   I've seen it before.  They are usually polite, courteous, ect.   If it's a sincere question, I've noticed that they usually they say something to the effect of, "Oh, I didn't know that.  Kinda sucks, but I'll get over it."

 

The first red flag was the number of times he said this was an "innocent thread/question."  It was a nice reminder that folks that have to insist so hard that they are acting innocent probably aren't.

It's a bit too obvious. You won't rile up players if you don't toggle the gay away.

I've noticed this isn't uncommon on the weekends, until about Sunday or so.  Every "how the hell did that happen" thread I've been in on the forums in the last year and change has been on a weekend.  Up to and including the night of the mega-Romance thread (long since closed) turning into the Fishquistion pre-release.

I was thinking about it, and I know one of the good things about threads like this:  I get to know the posters that I have a similar perspective with.   I've made some friends on the forums due to nights like this.   It makes me smile.

You know... I think all of these complaints would cease, if they made a The Sims: Dragon Age.

 

Scratch that.. I can still see complaints.

 

Not enough hairstyles.

Boobies on my weapons that I don't even use.

Sex scenes are cut out/inappropriate and distasteful/my sim got raped

Not enough castle customisation options.

 

... and the list would go on.

The top and bottom ones I have posted in.  I'd like more customization options for Skyhold and for my character's hair.  However, the middle two illustrate how damned bizarre the last week or so has been 'round here.

 

And as of today's news, llamas on the highway.
