This is the worst thread ever. Because of this thread, I am running late, I have YMCA stuck in my head and I am completely out of likes.

I hope you're all proud of yourselves.

Somehow, it feels more the thread is about there are gay characters in the game rather than the one lesbian romance they can't romance. I would rather people would just say that they want the toggle to remove the gay contents rather than making excuses like wanting to romance Sera or the likes.

It would not work because BioWare has said that they wish to create characters with sexual preference as part of who they are. In other words, they wanted to create Merrill to be bisexual. They wanted to create Dorian and Sera as homosexual. They wanted to create Cassandra as heterosexual.

They don't want to leave that up to the player.

That said, I would be in favor of an option to set your own character's sexual preference in the custom character creator section of the game so that it always knows your characters are how you have designed them.

So... does being in before the lock actually DO anything? Or is it just... something.

Oh, and NO.

I have skipped most of the pages and I am currently hating myself for even opening this thread..

OP, just no.

I get it, there are characters out there who you want to, or don't want to romance, we've heard this a thousand times by now (sadly)

"Oh Cassandra looks like a man"
"Why is Sera gay?"
"Why can't I sleep with Morrigan/Leliana"

"Iron Bull has a small head"

"I want to romance Cole"

and so on and so forth..

This is not a dating simulation.

For me the romances are one of the best things in the game, I'll admit that. I love that.
I have had my share of "disappointments" too.

Wanted to recruit and romance Cullen in DA:O (but thank you Bioware for "giving" him to us in Inquisition)

Wanted to romance Anders soooo much in Awakening only to get him with a personality I don't quite like (sorry Anders fans) and no Greg Ellis in Dragon Age II.

Oh and still no Varric romance...

Has that at all ruined a game for me? Um..no?

The best thing for me, the very best thing, about all the Dragon Age games is how the companions feel alive. They feel like people.

And guess what, not all people are bisexuals. And even bisexuals have preferences.

Your sexuality is a huge part of who you are.

And would feel insulted if Bioware even considered catering to those that are offended by or uncomfortable with people with a different sexuality than themselves.
I don't know if that is the case with the OP here, I don't want to attack anyone.

But to be able to "remove" or "hide" all the gay people? Just no.

Or to make everyone bisexual? Those two things are equally bad to me.

I am a straight person, I have never had any feelings - romantic och sexual - towards a female, but I love Cassandra as a character and I am gonna roleplay the hell out of my Male Qunari when I romance her (as soon as I have romanced Bull and Dorian of coure ;) )

There...I feel a bit dirty now for yet again clicking on one of these threads and even posting an answer...

Seriously ? 23 mb large image pasted into a post ? At least have a decency to put it into spoilers tag or maybe just a link.

Image spamming is really getting out of control.

How is this different from making them all 'playersexual'? Just making them straight/gay based on your charOH WAIT, you didn't say 'interested in men/women', you said gay/straight. So this isn't about romance options, it is about homosexuality...?

Assuming you did mean just making them playersexual or bi, it still opens new issues if you start up in straight, then romance a peep, then restart gay. What, is that ended now?

The gay toggle will exist whether you like it of not. I am sure someone will mod one. And frankly, good for them. People should get to play this game however they want. As long as it doesn't affect your gameplay you have no room to complain.

Mods are a different story. Expecting something official is foolish.

...and fans will write slash fiction...doesn't mean that the creator needs to agree with it and include it in their product...

As far as the creator goes, Cassandra is supposed to be straight...you are free to fantasize about her in any other way, but in the creator's vision she will always be straight.

That's a bit narrow minded though. If people want it, why not let them do it? There was really nothing about most of the character's sexuality that defined them (except for Dorian), which I think is a good thing, so I don't think allowing playersexuality would interfere with their stories.

Yes, but thats via someone choosing to add it, not because bioware made it.

What difference does it make who adds it? If Bioware do it, it might be done more tastefully and have a better fit.

Why do you need the option of having everything the way you want it? Then why not just make all characters blank slates with no personality, preferences, background, gender or sexuality at all, other than how the player wants to define them?

The fact that the characters in Dragon Age have their own will, their own mentality and does not simply follow everything the way you want them is what makes them interesting. You have to get to know them, you will like them, hate them, love them and perhaps even desire them as they are, not because you have made them into a Mary Sue or Gary Stu.

How does not being able to get into the pants of every female character you encounter stop you from playing the game as a straight male?

It doesn't, i don't want to get into every females pants.. I don't even care if i get into no pants...

I'll tag in and give it a shot.  But only because you are using one of my favorite Ru moments in that gif!  (Ru 2016!)

The developers have already stated that they aren't interested in this option.  Characters are developed with a sexuality and they aren't interested in developing characters with 'playersexual' sexuality.  Additionally, there are people who find it questionable to have a 'gay toggle' that can be used to eliminate gay content from the game.  While that's not the purpose for it from  your perspective, there are definitely people out there who would select that just so that they don't have to deal with having 'the gay agenda' 'forced down their throats'.  And Bioware isn't interested in pandering to those people.

Also, "almost everyone" isn't gay, lesbian, and bisexual in DA: I.  In DA: I, the only LGBT people that we know of for sure are Dorian, Sera, Bull, Josephine, Leliana, Celene, Briala, Harding, and a couple of rando NPCs.  That's about 10 characters in a game with, literally, hundreds of characters.  If you are referring to just LI's, then it's still only 4 out of 8, which is half (not "almost everyone").

So your saying Bioware is ok with throwing the gay agenda or whatever agenda at customers that don't want it thrown at them just to prove a point?

That seems a little petty on the bioware sides doesn't it.

I know for future reference if the next Dragon Age is full of this agenda crap similar to this one, i just wont buy it, that goes for all Bioware games as well, now i understand this probably offends someone, and i'm sorry if it does (and i personally have no issues with whatever you believe in), i just don't want it in my gaming not because i hate it but because i feel its unneeded personally..

If that means no straight romances as well so be it.
