What difference does it make who adds it? If Bioware do it, it might be done more tastefully and have a better fit.

As a corporate entity, whatever BioWare does will automatically be more politicized than whatever some shmuck at a computer at home does, and a modder doesn't have to worry about customer satisfaction, or their reputation. They can make whatever the hell they like and not worry about any meaningful consequences. Considering that the easier alternative would be to simply make all romance-able companions available regardless of gender, such a feature would likely be construed as throwing bigots a bone, and I can't say that I'd blame anyone for seeing it that way, and in fact I'd be right there saying the same damn thing, due in no small part to threads like these. After all, why not just avoid X character, or avoid X dialogue?

This discussion is irrelevant. Even if I were opposed to gay characters being in this game or if I genuinely wished that the game had a gay toggle switch, I'm not nearly stupid enough to think this is a viable suggestion.

Has anyone in favor of this idea actually considered what would happen if Bioware/EA went and did this? The entertainment press would have a field day! They could say goodbye to that GLAAD award, and that would just be the tip of iceberg.

"After numerous homophobia-motivated requests, we at Bioware decided to give players an option to turn previously gay characters into straight characters."

IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. Anyone who thinks it could lacks a fundamental grasp of the current social climate. Nor do they have any mind for business whatsoever.

You can release a game without gay characters and get away with it. But you can't release a game with gay characters and then later give players the option to "straighten" them. You can't. Not unless you WANT to torpedo your business.

If you like this idea, you are objectively wrong. I can prove it with graphs.

I hope you realize how absurd and stupid this is.

... Of course you don't, I don't know who I'm appealing to.

I disagree. Again, double helix and alchemy.
Magick!

Way to spell mind wrong.

I liked this post, even though I thought my likes ran out, how weird. Also woo-hoo to us forum youngsters.

It is not wrong. It is middle english.

When you start up DAI, you have three options:

(01) Straight game play

(02) random mix

(03) gay game play

This way, if someone likes to only play as a straight character, the game's characters would be straight.

Or if someone is gay, they can play as a gay character and the games characters would be gay.

Or some would rather have a random mix and see what they'd get.

This would solve all the hoopla about sex sex sex. No more complaints about male and female straight gamers saying, I want to romance her or him but they're gay.

Or gay players who want to romance a certain female or male and they can't becasue they're straight.

Would this not work?

And we instead can focus on fixing the many bugs in DAI. Like CTD's......sluggish frame rates, etc.

Why? It's a little boring if every living being hits on your character (Commander Shepard greets). There are enough romance choices for every preference in DA:I. And if you don't like the looks, there are already mods out there. After all, it's still a game and the romances are more of a side feature (although a party with well-written, talkative characters and romances increase the immersion of a RPG a LOT).

So your saying Bioware is ok with throwing the gay agenda or whatever agenda at customers that don't want it thrown at them just to prove a point?

That seems a little petty on the bioware sides doesn't it.

I know for future reference if the next Dragon Age is full of this agenda crap similar to this one, i just wont buy it, that goes for all Bioware games as well, now i understand this probably offends someone, and i'm sorry if it does (and i personally have no issues with whatever you believe in), i just don't want it in my gaming not because i hate it but because i feel its unneeded personally..

If that means no straight romances as well so be it.

This......is a joke, right?  You want to know how much content is in the "gay agenda" ( ) in this game?

* Dorian's companion quest ( ~5 mins)

* Romance content for 4 characters (~ 15 mins/each)

* An optional conversation with Krem (~1 min)

* Passing comments about Celene and Briala (~2 mins)

* A small handful of LGBT NPCs that you can overhear (~1 min)

That's it!  There you go.  Now, assuming that you aren't doing a s/s romance since you think having LGBT content is "crap", that means that you will literally be "forced" to see less than 10 mins worth of LGBT related content on any given playthrough.  In a game that has over 100 hours worth of content.

So, just to summarize:  If you don't do a s/s romance, you will have about 10 mins worth of LGBT content in a game with over 6000 mins worth of content.  And you think it's too much?  And that will cause you to not buy the next game in the future?

My opinion?  Don't buy it.  It's clearly not the game series for you and your delicate sensibilities.

Yes it was a joke, but yeah i am losing interest in Bioware games though.. not because of Agendas because they have a million other issues..

That said i do feel bioware should just stick to Fantasy games not Dating Sims...

Sorry, sometimes it's hard to parse out the homophobes from the satire.  My apologies good sir.  Carry on!

But seriously, people have actually used that "there sooooo much gay content in the game that I just can't handle it" argument in the past.  <smh>

Are you both claiming that Bioware made an inferior product because of political pressure from the LGBT lobby?

Maybe they are, maybe they aren't. They could be on to something though...

Er, what? What does the quality of the game have to do with it? Good game, bad game... it makes no difference. You can't introduce gay characters to a game and then later give players the option to "ungay" them. Not without bringing a media crapstorm down on you.

If you believe the game isn't as good as it could have been due to LGBT considerations, then that's a different argument and has no bearing on my point.

Yes I completely agree just because games have started to include things other than straight white males who ridiculously some how has every female drueling over them they're complainin because they can't have all the females to them selves it's just pathetic "sigh" I'm ashamed to share the same gender as these homophobic children.
