Why don't we all just f**k and get it over with?
Remember that you have the option to romance Dorian and Sera. You just have to create a gay PC. You are right. It is a video game, afterall, and not reality, so it's not a big deal to RP a character that has a different gender and/or sexuality as you. Not everyone likes doing that, but it doesn't mean that you don't have the option. For example, I prefer to play as a gay male PC. But my lady dwarf is romancing Blackwall and it's a great story that I'm glad I'm getting a chance to experience.
See! Looks like our debates pre launch did have an effect on each other. You're now playing an opposite sex romance, and I romanced Dorian on my second playthrough (before I totally got sick of the game.) ![]()
It seems that Mr. Gaider does not like making all LI bisexual, according to this interview at GaymerX. I quoted the relevant part below.
I don't think this is relevant. Apart from Dorian no character in game has his/her sexuality mentioned in dialogue. So their various stories got reduced to one which make whole statement meaningless and game inclined to idea of "player-sexuality" which btw is really stupid term :]
That's a funny way of saying narrow minded view
Indeed, I prefer to keep my knowledge in the frames of exclusivity instead of spreading it like widest doors of a bordello
Im not sure why you talk like that, it really doesn't sound as intelligent as you seem to think it does
I speak in a simple manner. Your skill of observation does not serve you well.
I do not find it appealing but I imagine that curs follow it during mating season. Personally I aspire to something more than twitching urges of an animal.
Sounds like a tumblr post, it has even catchphrase.
Oh, somehow I doubt that. From reading your posts here and elsewhere, it has become abundantly clear that your own "twitching urges" are considerably more animalistic than those you describe here. Your unnatural focus on virginity, for instance, is indicative of a rather obscene desire to engage in a form of predation rather than any kind of actual romance.
It's fairly obvious that from that, your expectations that any woman you are with should be downright worshipful and your general attitude towards others that there are two significant truths about you. First, you are trending heavily towards psychotic, which is not a word I throw around lightly.
Second, you sir, are completely un f***able.

Keep in mind, Skyrim made all the NPC marriage partners bisexual and Skyrim sold 20 million copies by 2015. The only reason I mention Skyrim is because of Biwoare's obvious attempt at trying to copy Skyrim. Obviously EA wants to get in on selling 20 million copies of DAI.
I also encourage many of you to try and engage in a serious discussion. Try to understand the opposite party, try to understand your opposite.
I completely understand the LGBT community which is why I don't' mind if 99% of thedas becomes gay. I want you guys to be happy. As long as I get one beautiful female romance love interest to stare at the whole game, I'll be happy. When I look at Cassandra's face is just makes me upset.
Awww. We are having such pleasant conversation here.
Just picturing everyone who has contributed posts to this thread sitting at a dinner table.
Oh and can someone pass me the salt?

That' a shame. Skyrim made all the NPC marriage partners bisexual and Skyrim sold 20 million copies by 2015. The only reason I mention Skyrim is because of Biwoare's obvious attempt at trying to copy Skyrim. Obviously EA wants to get in on selling 20 million copies of DAI.
But Skyrim is not exactly known for its story or NPC interaction.. its a sandbox. It makes sense to have all characters bi but the trade off is that I can't even remember who was romanceable. They were all forgettable characters.
What is so marvelous in the craftsmanship of Dorian? Just another father issues ridden traitor who has abandoned his centuries old lineage to follow his savage lust and desire for whimsy things like 'love'. I would expect far more from an Altus and writing in general. The same goes for other characters.
toggable sexual norm on/off would not hinder them in any special way.
::shrug:: I just happen to see it differently. It's not just my personal standards that vary from yours, it's how much I'd like the characters to reflect them. I don't want all the characters to see the world in the same way as me, or always behave as I would, because that sounds dull. I don't even write characters who necessarily see the world in the same way as me.
I disagree with every single character in Inquisition about something, and I'm okay with that. I don't understand the compulsion to measure the value of a character by how well they mesh with one's own values.

A game with completely forgettable characters, a non-existent story, basically a make your own adventure sandbox game ![]()

Yeah, because heaven forbid there are people who can't feel attraction until they meet someone and form a strong bond with.
I don't think that's the same thing at all. A character having a sexual orientation independent of the player doesn't mean they can't have romantic inclinations (to only feel attraction after developing a close personal bond) exactly the way you describe them. As I know you're fully aware, what you're describing is sometimes called "demisexual" (please, by the Maker guys, lets not get into a debate about the validity of that term), and that is defined as a sexual orientation itself.
i don't necessarily agree with this, or with David's view. I don't think there is anything wrong with the idea of having player-sexual characters nor do I think that they then have to be written as bisexual. I think you are making the assumption that an NPC's sexuality has a big impact on their personality and I'm not at all convinced that that is true in Thedas. I do agree that making an NPC player-sexual means you have to have (at least) two versions of the character or avoid ever mentioning their past relationships but there are certainly characters where I think this could be achieved (Dorian is obviously not one of these).
Having said this, I have absolutely no complaints with how Bioware approaches it, nor would I want them to change the way they write characters, nor do I think a sexuality toggle is a good idea!
It's not so much a suggestion that their sexual should define them, but that the the player shouldn't define them, about sexuality, favorite color, etc. I think that's just part of the integrity of the characters.
I also encourage many of you to try and engage in a serious discussion. Try to understand the opposite party, try to understand your opposite.
Your own efforts at that seem to be highly unsuccessful, since you still haven't been able to wrap your head around the fact that there are many more straight males that find both Cassandra and Josephine attractive, than the opposite...

i'm positive that there are no amorous intentions behind my preferences. Interesting leap though, from virginity to predation. Sounds just like something out of modern feminists' pamphlet.
The bolded part is true, for everyone of a healthy minde who engage in romantic unions. Personally, I do not care about feelings of my companion. I would rather prefer them to be of arranged marriage flock.

That is what for toggable option would be. You would play the game you want and we would play it the way we want.
"I prefer to keep my knowledge in the frames of exclusivity" isn't even correct English, let alone simple.
I have never claimed that my english grammar is good, I find it immensely lacking. I don't see anything wrong with this sentence of mine though. Yes, it is simple. Still, quite a rude nitpicking.
the fact that there are many more straight males that find both Cassandra and Josephine attractive, than the opposite...
I HIGHLY doubt it. But since I can't prove it it's just IMO. Neither can you. ![]()
Did I mention I highly doubt it?
