Is it any good, or would I be better off going 2h for Reaver? I've only played a mage and rogue in this game for any meaningful length of time. @h looks to have higher DPS output, but S&S seems more mobile, which (just based on looking at the talents) fits the Reaver style better.

IMO, anything can be valid in this game if you do it right , for example if you go full tank in my very own opinion i think Reaver wont be so much effective , but as long as you keep it balanced between The offensive skills and defensive skills you should be fine  , but my question is how are you going with S&S ? Tank or Dps focused?Tank - reaver wont do much except giving you a better chance of dealing damage
Dps - built right and reaver will be as much threatening on S&S as 2h
i am not a pro but one thing i am damn sure of you can do anything you want in this game and it will work

I played as a 2 handed warrior on my second playthrough and went reaver.  Didn't really care for it for her.  I tend to like to go full on tank though and reaver abilities take your HP which kind of defeats the purpose of a tank. Champion is good for tanking because of all the defenisve/guard based skills.  Templar is somewhere in the middle between offense (reaver) and defense (champion).

Both should be viable.  I heard someone made a S&S Reaver that could solo Nightmare.  If built right it should be very feasible indeed.

I planned on going damage, since I always have Cassandra around to tank. 2H warrior feels really slow, so I figured I would try S&S

I pretty much only use Iron Bull as a SnS reaver.  I use KineticGTR's guide.

For AI settings, Ring of Pain is Disabled. Set Dragon Rage, Devour, Shield Bash, and Payback Strike to Preferred. Also set their behavior to Follow your tank.

i would suggest going for the obvious then , focus on Damage skills with battlemaster instead of vanguard , the trick is not in skills but rather the runes and the accessories and such thou it will take someone more expert than me to tell you specifically what you need but as i said go for the obvious just think
'' i wanna do as much damage as i can , how? ''

The trade off to going S&S reaver is that you trade lower damage for an extra masterwork slot, which is ideally used for an additional defensive masterwork, as no offensive masterwork is going to make up the difference in critical chance or attack% you lose with the 2hander, not to mention the base damage.

It's the safer alternative, but part of that safety is that you lose damage. A lot of damage. It's neither more mobile nor less mobile than the 2hander as both of them have access to the 8 second cooldown skill, charging bull, which is your main gap closer.

S&S gets that lunge skill though for closing, and payback strike is a sweet skill.

I wouldn't go Reaver on S&S though.
