So after a 400 hour plus oblivion break I went back to Mass Effects. I finished up a ME3 I had going. If you do a speed run (or lazy as you call it), What changes when you load it into ME2? I have always been a completed everything to do but want to get through ME1 a little faster.

  Thanks,John W.

Depends on how you speed-run it.

For starters, you are going to be importing a lower-level character into ME2. Level 60 characters (minimum 2 playthroughs or modding required) will start at level 5. Level 50-59 will start at level 3. Level 49- will start at level 2 or 1. This also means that you will not have as many points to spend on powers in ME1, including Charm/Intimidate if that is something you care about.

Speed runs will usually entail only playing the main missions, skipping a lot of the side content. The good news is that means you will skip all the driving, scanning, minerals, ID tags, data discs, and asari writings. I think the data discs give you some war assets in ME3. The asari writings can also increase some war assets in ME3 since they can help you help Conrad Verner in ME3.

Not doing any of the side missions may prevent a cameo or some extra dialogue or an email from appearing in ME2/ME3. But that is about it.

So I would say that the only real tangible effect a speedrun has is the amount of XP/levels earned in ME1 and its affect on your starting level in ME2. Personally I like finishing at level 50+ so I have a running start in ME2.

You should complete Conrad Verner's quest. Without that you miss out on a discount at one of the stores on Illium.

Yesterday I did a speedrun that took 3 hours 31 minutes.  I started at level 33 and finished at level 49

I did the main quests obviously and no side quests except help Parasini to get the pass to get to peak 15. I didn't recruit Wrex

That's all I did. If I was to do it again I would help Jenna and talk with Conrad Verner

Overall not much is missed.

I have done another speedrun starting at level 1 and finishing at level 32. It took 4 hours 12 minutes

Thanks guys, I was wondering because I wanted some more saves for ME2. Like one with Wrex or Kirrahe surviving. I would just reload a ME1 save so I could have the level 60 for the load in. Want to play other ways, May have to try something other than infiltrator, but I know I would not have that level 60 the first time.

@GrandIllusion:

If you are looking for some build ideas, then I recommend checking out this thread: [Mass Effect 1] Start of the Journey: Single Playthrough Builds by Simbacca. It is a fantastic resource for both newcomers and veterans playing through ME1.

Also if you need it: Mass Effect 1 Talent Calculator.
