Hi,

I am only starting on my DA:I, so please no spoilers.

For a mage, does the specialization play an important role in the plot? Will choosing one close major plot opportunities for me? Or does it only impact the play style?

Thanks.

(this should probably be moved to "Story, campaign and characters". Sorry)

If you're an Elf mage, pick Knight Enchanter (as long as you don't mind being a bit OP).  While I don't think it makes major changes to the plot, it does tie in with one aspect.  None of the specializations change the plot, but NPCs can sometimes make reference to them in certain circumstances.

Nope, no major plot changes. There is quite a bit of extra/special dialogue options for a mage though. And sometimes you feel more connected to the plot because you're a mage even though the game might not explicitly acknowledge it.

Why Elf? Any amusing dialogue?

That's a shame... I would imagine being a Rift Mage would impact the plot somewhat at least, since we're dealing with rifts and all.
