I've been playing my assassin pretty heavily for a while and enjoying it - mostly. The crap tracking of some spells and stupidly frustrating aspects of the interaction of terrain with abilities really take the shine off it. It's easy to see the reason many love ranged characters.
After playing Tevinter ruins for a number of rounds and getting demons consecutively I'm now at the point of raging. This seems to be the perfect combo of mob type and ruinous terrain that showcases how crap the tracking and behaviour of melee abilities really can be.
I'm finding time after time that mobs are out of melee range on a rock, stand safely 1-2 steps above/below me or even on top of a brick on flat ground that causes abilities to miss. The "flying" mobs are the absolute best example of this and frustrate the SH$% out of me.
I actually did not have this degree of pain from the system in SP .... is it the maps or has something else been fiddled? Maybe it's just so many opportunities in MP exist to die at the hands of poorly implemented abilities with so many mobs compressed into a small area.
All I can say is I sure as hell wouldn't hire a "master assassin" that couldn't land a hit on a stationary target simply because they were 2 steps below them or standing on a brick.
