Tev Ruins + Demons + Assassin (perhaps any melee) = crap.

I've been playing my assassin pretty heavily for a while and enjoying it - mostly. The crap tracking of some spells and stupidly frustrating aspects of the interaction of terrain with abilities really take the shine off it. It's easy to see the reason many love ranged characters.

After playing Tevinter ruins for a number of rounds and getting demons consecutively I'm now at the point of raging. This seems to be the perfect combo of mob type and ruinous terrain that showcases how crap the tracking and behaviour of melee abilities really can be.

I'm finding time after time that mobs are out of melee range on a rock, stand safely 1-2 steps above/below me or even on top of a brick on flat ground that causes abilities to miss. The "flying" mobs are the absolute best example of this and frustrate the SH$% out of me.

I actually did not have this degree of pain from the system in SP .... is it the maps or has something else been fiddled? Maybe it's just so many opportunities in MP exist to die at the hands of poorly implemented abilities with so many mobs compressed into a small area.

All I can say is I sure as hell wouldn't hire a "master assassin" that couldn't land a hit on a stationary target simply because they were 2 steps below them or standing on a brick.

I do love leaving stealth to backstab an enemy, only to inexplicably miss, and stand there like a fool. I havent used my assassin for a while, but when I did it was apparent the abilities like backstab could do with better homing/ tracking. It does get better with practise, but it shouldn't have to really.

Would be nice if Stealth didn't break if you attempted to attack but whiffed. Similar to how you don't trigger ability cooldown if you whiff.

"Hello all enemies in the area! I am healing now! I wouldn't want to do so without announcing it to you, as I don't think that would be fair!"

@ OP why not pick up the ability to pull yourself to the mob? when you upgrade it, its always up.. I find it very useful?

I love playing assassin but yeah, demons are a pain.  One stupid fire wraith can wreck your day if stealth is on cd.  I rage quit a perilous demons run last night on my assassin because i burned to death twice in 1/5 despite using a fire resist pot.  I've been watching for some fire resist armor upgrades but no luck with the leather.

Demons are my preferred faction to face as an assassin. They don't have hard target ranged death, burn wraiths can be nullfied by upgraded stealth, and apart from the rage demon, all the speciality demons are fairly simple to run circles around.

As far as tracking goes, I'm got used to it. I just don't put myself in situations where the ability won't hit, and if by some chance I am in the situation, I just don't use the ability.

Get the passive that lets you stealth after hit if you don't have it, it's to the left of fallback plan So you will need to spend a point to get to it. otherwise go for other stuff, let your teammates handle those. One more thing is to use flank attack with the stealth.
