For the ultimate sacifice playthrough, it's a direct substitution (though the game didnt do this).

If the WC is the HoF, then the title is HoF and all is well (this is what we've got now)

If the WC is not the HoF and the HoF is still alive, maybe that's when the WC needs to go into retirement/ heard the Calling and died/is a nice tidy encounter at Weisshaupt (assuming we're heading there next!)/ is a nice tidy wartable encounter?  I assume this third case is what's caused BW trouble and why the WC isnt in the Keep?

I think there are ways to resolve the extra plot questions the third option creates. The benefits of including this character outweigh the costs imo.  after all, in my (ultimate sacrifice) playthrough he was by far the highest lvl character, and he's head of the Ferelden wardens. I dont like that the game has nothing to say about him.

anyone else have some suggestions for BW here?  I understand that the variables explode with BW games and they need to collapse them down and wrap things up. I see the need to have just one occupant of the HoF/WC slot. but I think there's a classy way to deal with the WC if he's running around the world with the HoF.

Title of the topic says you're looking for WC of Orlais.
You agree for Clarel is WC for Orlais Grey Wardens.
... I don't get it?

In the Awakenings Expansion, when you import a dead Hero of Ferelden you play instead the Ferelden Warden Commander form Orlais...

Therefore there should be two Warden Commanders from Orails...

  • the one commanding the Orlais Wardens,
  • and the one comanding the ferelden wardens.

Both born in Orlais.

^ No. If you import dead Warden into Awakenings, game assumes they didn't die. So you continue with the same character from origins. Born in Ferelden.

If you create new Warden he is from Orlais - the full title would be like Orlesian Warden Commander of Ferelden.

If the Warden-Commander is from Orlais, the Warden can serve as Warden Commander at Vigil's Keep for a time before finally being called by the Order to the Grey Warden headquarters at Weisshaupt. Rumor has it that there is a new Blight there. The Warden never returns to Vigil's Keep again

that is straight from the DA wiki page for the awakening epilogue.

Now if (s)he is looking into the calling cure of something else who knows, maybe we will in dlc or DA4

I think the orlesian commander has probably been retconned. Most people never played awakening on it's own I think.

The warden could return, with a new warden option for heroes who died, but you'll need several voices like in DAI with the inquisitor and I just don't see an orlesian voice being in the mix.

I could forgive a non-French accent. But the thing is, bioware created this character, and a large number of players chose the US option for their warden. Including the OWC is simply taking responsibility for that creation.

Given that the Warden-Commander was created to fill the HoF's role in Awakening if the HoF was dead, I presume the Warden-Commander would take up the same role in Inquisition, i.e., researching cures for the Calling. Encountering the Architect and the Awakened would have ignited an interest there, certainly.

If the HoF is alive? Serving with the Orlesian Wardens, I guess.

I'd actually be cool with an orlesian commander instead of a new PC option, if it meant seeing my hero again as an option as well...

Hell, not everyone in orlais has to be french, he can be from one of the border areas and have the same voice pool.

if we ever get to play the search for the calling as the warden, I hope to see Sigrun there. She grew on me.

Late to this thread but i was just playing Awakening for the first time as an Orlesian Warden and was thinking what happened to this character if HoF died and then i saw this thread so sorry about bumping this thread.

I liked the different dialogue options and Lord Guy hating you for being from Orlais.

I never liked that in Awakening that the dead HoF was resurrected, one thing Bioware messed up on instead of letting that import keep the HoF dead but the choices made by HoF still in affect.

They now seem to have ditched the Orlesian WC and pretend he/she never existed which just seems like they do not care.

As a fan i do care and i am disappointed that they ate doing this.
The Orlesian WC should fill HoF role in Inquisition if HoF sacrificed his/herself during the blight.
