Random list of the Don't Die abilities that some characters have. (Sometimes the abilities are I Died, But... instead.)

Guardian Spirit and Unyielding are the clear winners, but are sometimes deep in an ability tree.

Simulacrum seems like utter trash by comparison.

And a whole bunch of character aren't allowed to be as cool as the chosen few.

Guardian Spirit (100% Barrier when about to die)

  • Arcane Warrior
  • Elementalist
  • Keeper

Unyielding (5 seconds of invulnerability at 5% Health threshold)

  • Legionnaire
  • Templar - also The Last Sacrifice which buffs the entire party for 10 seconds when you die

Simulacrum (10 seconds of spirit form during which you cast spells without Mana cost, but can't be revived)

  • Necromancer - also indirect sef-revives using Spirit Mark

These folks get nothing :(

  • Alchemist
  • Archer
  • Assassin
  • Hunter
  • Katari
  • Reaver

Unyielding saved me from trapped whirlwind death yesterday. Also guardian spirit is the best.

I have a theory that heal on kill doesn't work while guardian spirit is on cooldown, so there's that.

You should further segment the list IMO, since Unyielding for a templar is not relevant for alot of the builds and so do not get used.

The standard "nuker" build certainly does not.

Also, I've noticed that the mage classes gets them extremely early on, where as both Templar and Lego have them as top tier. IMO it should be the other way around, after all they are melee by design where as mages can easily remove themselves from melee.

Meh, the list is pretty short, and I already mentioned that sometimes the skills are deep in the ability trees.

But I agree that it can be painful to decide to chase Unyielding. Maybe you (in the general sense not you specifically) are better off choosing other abilities that will prevent you from ever needing to trigger Unyielding?

= = =

On the mage side, I find that Guardian Spirit on the Keeper and especially the Elementalist allows me to play super aggressively. (Arcane Warrior already plays aggressively by design.)

For example the Elementalist can charge in, cast Firestorm and Fire Wall centered on himself, and Guardian Spirit will save him when he gets near death. Death Siphon (plus Heal on Kill if you have it) kicks in to heal all the damage he just took. It's awesome.

Fallback Plan.

Or do you mean exclusively auto-kicking-in Passives as soon as your health bar reaches a certain point?

Heal on Kill for Alch's using poison sometimes works, heal on hit, even better.  But yeah, it's pretty meh compared to the real heroes of DAMP.

Really? Leaping Shot combined with Bow of Cruel Redemption, proper build and high Cunning provides continuous insane damage and infinite health.

You can self revive with anything. Hell I've self revived with hidden blades.

Take Necro off the list

Last sacrifice on templar is pretty great because it heals stupid npcs who suicide charge during escort sections of the game. I saved one by accident once, he had a sliver of health left and i got downed and healed him to full.
