Well, when DAI came out, I was really disappointed of the clumsy keyboard and mouse support and the horrible console menus. Everything, from skill distribution to crafting is a pain if you use the mouse.

I preordered the Signature Edition of DA2, Collectors Edition of ME3 and the Digital Deluxe Edition of DAI.

But now, for ME4 Im not sure if I should preorder at all. DAI still hasn't been fixed after 4 months. It still randomly crashes quite often with a Nvidia Card.

Is Bioware aware that they started with PC games and not everyone has a console?

Right now, I lost all trust in Bioware developing games for PC until they prove that they ACTUALLY SELL A PC GAME and not a cheap console port!

I think I will wait at least 6 months after release before I buy the next Mass Effect game.

Anyone else?

Lets hope the Mass Effect team saw the big thread (PC Community Concerns) in the DAI Forums.

It has more then 1 million views!

The PC community is big, please Bioware dont screw it up with the next Mass Effect game!

Guess you haven't played ME1-3. The whole trilogy screams "lazy console-port". The shooting gameplay with m+kb was OK, but everything else was clearly made for gamepads.

Nvidia doesn't care for EA, because they don't contaminate their games with the "Gameworks" garbage. Could be the reason for the bad drivers.

I have played ME1-3 on PC and everytime I see a video of someone playing in a console, I automatically think that the gameplay is much better on PC than on consoles. Bringing up the power wheel to choose what power you are going to use? In the PC version I just use the numbers to instead of pausing the game to choose my power.

Plus ME1 had those nice shortcuts in the keyboard to push the inventory, the journal and the codex.

But then again, I think every game that requires me to point and shoot is better with a m+kb.

I'm not really worried.

Mostly because ME is a shooter at heart and Frostbite 3 is a shooter engine.

Not saying ME is not an RPG btw, also not looking to discuss whether it is an RPG or not. But it's undeniably a shooter at heart, and it was without a doubt much more difficult to create a DA type RPG in Frostbite than it will be to make an ME type RPG.

This goes for both PC and console

Besides, aren't we way passed the 'Inquisition is unplayable with mouse and keyboard'-fase? It takes a while to get used to, that's it. It's not even bad.

All three are obvious console-ports.

  • console menus
  • horrible inventory in ME1
  • almighty spacebar in ME3
  • textures downgraded to console levels (overall horrific texture quality)
  • downgraded animations (because PCs can never have more than 512 MB RAM)
  • bare-bones settings menu
  • HUD doesn't scale with resolution (ME3)

So it looks like Im the only one worried that the next ME game will be a cheap Console port optimised for AMD?

Well, we don't know how good the DX12 drivers from both Nvidia and AMD will be.

Gameplay, menus etc will be similar to ME3. Don't expect anything and you won't be disappointed.

It'll be a compromised console port. Probably have to wait for modders to do their thing (if they can).

The issue I have with Console games is that they do not stand up to the "Pepsi Challenge" when it comes to graphics.  Although I did not buy or play DA:I I have seen it up close and was not impressed.

If I'm not going to get ME:Next, the reasons will likely be manifold.  For one, I have great concerns about the story after those horrible endings.  How will they get it off of the ground?  WIll it be good enough and believable?  Becasue if its a cop out, I'm gone.  Will the graphics be better than DA:I?  They had better be, because ME2 had better graphics and shaped characters.  ME3 just looked all wrong and 'plasticy'.

When I saw what the devs were looking at for our new hero / heroine and the detail level that was there, I was amazed.  If DA:I is in the same engine, why does it look so sad?  Skyrim looks better, and is far older.   The preview for DA:I looked really amazing - but the actual product did not look even close to that good.

As for the interface, I think that Kinect support is silly, and that anything a controller can do, I can do with a mouse and keyboard.  For the most part, I thought that the interfaces from ME1 - 3 were pretty good.

I'm just one of those people that really enjoys high end graphics - and I'm willing to pay for it.  I get the best in PCs and I expect the best out of video games.  If the very best settings on the game aren't impressive, I see no reason at all to get the game.

DA:I looks great maxed out, especially flora and fauna. Hair looks really bad, like in ME2. There are some really weird shader effects for metal armor and some stones. Many animations were downgraded and look pretty rough. Thanks PS3/X360.

The Frostbite-engine is getting physical based rendering (Battlefront will probably the first game using it) and Bioware is dropping the old consoles. ME:Next should look a lot better than DA:I.

No, you're not the only one. I'm completely agree w/u. Playing DA:I, in many situations I didn't know where the mouse (the pointer, obviously) was and, unless I was intending a "power" was operated by accident.

"People" crossing objects;

"Krem" standing on a chair;

The horn of the unicorn in the stable surpassing the door;

Animals and "people" emerging from nowhere;

The lack of dialogues between characters (happened to Iron Bull, when I played);

The lack of customization for clothes when the Inquisitor was in Skyhold...

The artificial hair and animations with bad transitions.

Errors/bugs which need attention and care and then DA:I will deserve all the commendation received.

I saw the cheap PC port to Inquisition coming, as I did ever since ME2 and DA2, so I got my PS4 ready and that's the way it's gonna be for ME4 too.

You guys don't have an Xbox 360 controller lying around to plug into your PC?

If I buy a PC game, I want to play it with keyboard and mouse. I dont want to pay 70$ for a cheap console port and being forced to use the Xbone controller to use the stupidly designed console menus.

Bolded and italicized the most important part of his comment.

Yah, I know what you mean.   BioWare knows what you mean.   Everybody knows what you mean.  The poor guy that was the head of the QA team (who had to test it on I think 4 different controllers and a k + m) definitely knows what you mean.  I'm not really worried, but I'll suffer through if it's a good story.

I mean, like ME2 good.  On steroids.

Not saying anything BioWare, just saying.  Can't leave without giving you guys something to achieve.

Considering how much we know about the actual game? You may have jumped the shark a tad. All we know so far is that it takes place in space, there's a multiplayer, mako, salarians, krogans and turians are back and it's on frostbite.

In my opinion ME games were better ported to PC then DA:I was,and it took 2 hours,tops ,to get used to DA:I (indeed, poor) keyboard/mouse controls and interface  and flow with it.

So to me this is not that big of an issue.

I don't think Bioware ever did a "bad" PC port, its just the fact that the production value of the game doesn't match the production value of the PC port.

In short, they can do better.

Obviously ME4 will be a PC game made by PC gamers :rolleyes:

The thing is, just be truthful about it. The biggest disappointment for PC gamers with DA:I was the bare faced lies Bioware told over the game, blatantly making it out to be far more PC optimised than the release was.

It's not just the controls though. The PC needs separate development to the consoles. Even the latest Consoles can't compare with the power of a half decent gaming rig. Give us a game that actually makes our hardware break a sweat for a change. Treat the PC platform with the respect it deserves. If you churn out an average looking game that is best used with a controller than people are going to use their console. Release a game with UD graphics with a viable M+KB control and menu systems then people are going to use their PC.
