well... after just getting into it for the first time 3 weeks ago, I marathoned the entire thing. It was very good, but it's over now and I'm feeling a little bit dead inside because I don't know where to go from that...

 

Character cast was small, but they were all very well acted, and seemed realistic enough because the weren't like drones with boring and undefined concepts of good and evil. They had understandable reasons for doing some pretty reprehensible things... selfish reasons, that kind of do toe the line of "evil" at times in the sense that they commit all the 7 deadly sins, but reasons nonetheless. Looking for a show like that, and I've already caught up on game of thrones and the sopranos, and have just started House MD season 1.

 

I already know about The Wire and Boardwalk Empire and intend to watch them later. 

 

I'm thinking about games and books and comics too... any medium in which I can enjoy a story close to the high bar of quality that is breaking bad suits me fine.

Better Call Saul, the prequel to said show, it's on par with the quality of Breaking Bad with only 4 episodes so far. It derives it focus more on the black comedic parts of the original show, with some occasional tough moments here and there.

How about Sherlock, or the Metal Gear series? They anything at all like breaking bad?

You might want to check out Better Call Saul. Saul Goodman is the series' protagonist and it is a prequel of sorts for Breaking Bad. So far the quality of the series has been on par with Breaking Bad.

Uhm... no? Metal Gear is a stealth action game and Sherlock is a crime-drama, rather random examples to bring up.

 

EDIT: Read your OP now and noticed exactly what you were asking for, so nevermind. Yes Metal Gear is very good in terms of high quality storytelling.

 

If you want a "tv-show" which is anything like Breaking Bad then there's the prequel Better Call Saul or a show called Fargo, based on the excellent film by the Coen Brothers of the same name. Its characters and plot play a lot like that of Breaking Bad.

Breaking Bad was cool and I liked a lot of it, though I almost always considered it overrated (but that doesn't matter if its good anyway).

@thechris92: thank you for the suggestions, I'll look them up. I'm just enough of a breaking bad addict to reach across to other completely different mediums for my next fix. I do not remember enjoying anything as much as breaking bad.
