Someone complained about an NPC's placement in a module because their quest-giving dialogue could be heard through the adjoining wall in the Persistent World. It made me think...
Is there some way to script chat to only be issued to creatures that you could perceive? (I say could because we've got issues like stealth, invisibility, etc.) There's obviously some sort of checking going on, since creatures on the other side of a hill or around a corner don't show up until you round that corner. Could this be replicated for PCs, at least with talk?
