Cullen was originally intended to be a bi romance option.

Just because he's bisexual doesn't mean that he needs to actively hit on guys or talk about them to you.

That's the point I was trying to convey.  I was trying to illustrate that he was bisexual all along, even though he never said boo about it until ME3.

I've never heard anyone ever say "gah, there too many chicks in this game!" At least not for a Bioware game. As near as I can tell, the only people who seem to think there should be a disproportionate amount of male companions are the developers themselves.

A few weeks ago this post in another thread (which had started off nicely) kicked off debate about the amount of women (or lack of men) in "leadership roles." So yeah, those people are out there.

Nope.

Actually they just had all the Inqi voice sets record all the Inqi lines. It's less because they intend to make everyone bi or w/e but so if, for whatever reason, they need it, they don't need to pull back the cast for additional passes.

In this case, they'd have Dorian record lines "talk to [Name] first". Cullen is named in only one line. It's just a few extra lines for Dorian's VO to cover all the diffierent possibilities. Notice how he's saying "do they know that?" rather than he/she.

Convenient, if people mod I suppose.

I had thought that someone, perhaps his writer (?), had actually said that it was only cut cause they didn't have time to do the animations.

Oh, really?  I've not heard that.  The last I heard about it, Gaider said (in response to the "restore bisexual Cullen" request), "That content isn't getting added in for the same reasons it didn't the first time."  And some people have interpreted that to mean that he might have been the character spoken about at GaymerX, when they said that a character was originally intended to be bisexual, but they changed their minds during development because it wasn't "working".  Although, in retrospect, that might have been referring to Solas if the rumors of his cut bisexual content are true.

If what you are saying is true, then I really, really owe Epler a huge Edible Arrangement after his work on the Bull romance.

Send a fruit basket.  Everybody loves those.

As far as the topic, I'll try to dig up my post from awhile back on the matter later.  I'm feeling lazy at the moment.

Are you sure?  Because no one has found any of the other recordings in the game files.  Unless I  missed something, I'm pretty sure that they looked for them specifically because of that question.  I think his VO recorded those lines because, at the time, they thought the character was going to be bisexual.

It was a QA person who had left BioWare, in a tweet that was not supposed to be public.

What I am saying is, in any dragon age game to date I am unaware of anyone suddenly changing their sexuality from one game to the next (romance characters). Regardless of how many years have passed. Cullen was obviously straight in origins, why would he suddenly be bi now? And if he was why then would it only be him, why not Cassandra (we know she was straight) or anyone else.

Surprised this hasn't been said yet, but Anders was portrayed as straight very heavily in Awakening and then in DA2 he's not only willing to get down but also will claw Fenris's eyes out for you.

I think that might be the Solas one that you are thinking of. Granted, from the little snippet of the male romance audio, it sounded pretty awesome to me lol.

Why do you think Inquisition did not have all the characters Bi this time around?  That was one of the reasons.

I could see Cullen go bi.. though i'm not sure how it would all turn out :D

Soldier: "Sir, we are in need of wood for the siege equipment"

Cullen: "Oh I have plenty of Wood for you..."

Anyway, I greatly disliked getting hit on by Anders in DA2.. but (lol.. butt), I just told myself that his personality change was caused by him merging with Justice.

OMG, really!? Why would they even consider making Cullen an option for males, when he wasn't attracted to the Warden if the mage was male!?

*sigh* It would have been Anders all over again...

Based on what is said here: http://thedreadwolfr...el-at-pax-south I don't think that Solas was conceptualized as being bi. He really was a last minute bid from the looks of it, and a combination of practicality and thematic opportunity got him in. And thank goodness for that. :P

I think this harkens back to what Gaider was trying to say in his post. Just because you perceive a character (e.g. Anders, Cullen heck even Kaidan) as a certain sexuality doesn't necessarily mean they are that sexuality. It's not a retcon if your perception is proved wrong, it's just proof once again that you're not all-knowing.

...You people are having an argument on this? Again?

Oh give it a few weeks and I am sure this topic will come up again.

I guess some people cannot be respectful of what is and what does make sense.

Instead some have to cry about it like a 2 year old in the check-out lane not getting a candy bar.

People really obsess over the romances way too much.

This is only part of the story though. Romances in Bioware games used to be something that was nothing more than a miscellaneous quest. I liked romances when they were like that.

Now, they are full blown quests and taking up resources which could have been used for something like the main questline perhaps ?

Its not just the fans. Its Bioware making romances in their games bigger and more prevalent. If they had kept it simple and basic like it used to be, this obsession over character sexualities would not be a big thing.

Yeah, the whole Kaidan Alenko thing. I like that guy but didn't his sexuality change over games ? So the idea that Cullen's could not is ridiculous. Who knows ? After being friendzoned and ignored by female mages he fancied, he decided to look elsewhere and found his love in a male Inquisitor.

I know a male friend who got treated like crap in the romantic department by women to the point he became bisexual and started favoring men over women.

So its not impossible.

This really lives up to the old saying no matter how laid bare the facts are, people will only see what they want to see.

Not this again.

And I am VERY glad they went this route with Cullen. Him being bi, just does not fit his character. Also I am VERY happy too they gave each character their own sexual preference.

If either of things were not what they are in the game right now, I would not be playing it.

I'm curious, how does being bi not suite his character? Cullen could be bi straight or gay and it wouldn't effect who he is as a person.

Have you even played the other games-let alone paid attention to his character and personality!?!

Not to mention the developers/writer even said he was straight and being any other did not fit him. Thus I do not see why we are....

Irrelevant. I for one am glad at they chose not to Anders him.
