Personally, I enjoy the romance elements of Bioware games and would be disappointed to lose them. It adds another level of interaction to companion relationships, which is where BW shines.
And honestly, I think that if they did remove the romances entirely, people would complain about that, and further, they'd find other things to complain about as well - weapon options, animation, hairdos, open world vs. scripted narrower zones, day/night cycle, companion personalities, ability or inability to murderknife everyone, monster variety, plot length, resources spent on single player vs. multiplayer, voice acting, 'dumbing down' combat, complicated systems, RNG, crafting...it's not like there haven't been complaints (and praise) about all these things and more.
Bottom line, when you're aiming at or attracting a wide variety of people and demographics, there is never, ever going to be a way to make each and every one completely happy, because we all want different things. And that's ok.
