Mr Gaider also mentioned in a tweet about having to justify characters being straight.
He sure did, and he sounded understandably annoyed.

none of them say "Hello, I'm Cullen and I'm straight" in big readable letters.
I thought they did do that on one of the sites, lil pages for each char that stated their gender, species and what they were romatntically attracted too... hmm cant find a link now. Its not stopped people arguing at all ![]()
Doesn't mean they are either.
Not fair? Perhaps.
Not correct? No, it is.
A hypothesis backed by observing some of their responses. For example no matter how civil and polite both the subject matter and how it is expressed is, Bioware has either ignored them or just flat out say no rather than even humor the poster and listen to them. Meanwhile the people they do listen to tend to be people whose ideas correspond to things Bioware already wants to do. So like I said, they only listen to what they want to hear. Everything else falls on deaf ears.
Alrighty that's fine. I was just wondering what "hypothesis" you were insisting was "correct".

ah...see? I never saw those! Need to be in the game, on actual foreheads, constant reminder less you have memory of a goldfish
I don't think there are any logical reasons to Cullen's sexuality. My impression, based on David Gaider's comments, is that it didn't "feel right" for the character. You can't always reduce feelings logically, particularly creative ones. And sometimes, it is counter productive. Cullen is straight simply because he is, it doesn't really serve a purpose to try to explain *why*. There is no why. He was just..."born" that way.
And that is all well and good. My issue is when people say that bisexuality doesn't fit with his character.
As if bisexual men only behave in a certain manner or have x personality traits, and cannot behave in any other way.
A sweet, kind knight in shining armor? No way he can be bisexual. "It doesn't fit" his character.

Rofl, or hit a bad case of denial? ![]()
Rofl, or hit a bad case of denial?
yes! exactly!
I would but it's hard to do so without coming off as homophobic . I could direct you to a few blogs tho.
I see. I'm not entirely sure what to make of that. I was generally under the impression that people with different sexualities don't inherently have these outstanding personality traits that make their sexuality a foregone conclusion. If I'm mistaken, I'd be happy to be corrected.

I get why he'd be annoyed . People are never truly satisfied .

They don't.
Is it safe to come out from under me table yet?
Safe? Here? On the BSN?
It's never safe here

Sounds like you're completely aware that whatever you want to say is heterosexist garbage.

Good point! Ill just gab some snacks and cushions then its back under the table for me! ![]()

Because its never enough for some people.
A great many in this fandom have huge entitlement issues. They think only of themselves instead of the big picture.

Big picture?
Big picture?
I believe the writers have the right to create the characters the way they envision to be just as people have the right to mod their games.
When all is said and done....they don't owe us anything. Its still their art. I've had no issues rolling male characters for Dorian and IB. I've rolled a female for Sera and a male Qunari for Cassandra.
Sure there are things I'd love to have in the game....but I don't expect the game developers to cater to my needs.
Big picture?
That the romances aren't created to cater to specific tastes
It's basically like buying a book and wishing it was a different book (and then demand that the writer write the one you want).

Okay?
I understand that the writers do what they want to do. That's fine.
The reason the bisexual Cullen issue has some people annoyed is that there is conflicting information about it.
On the one hand you have some devs saying that is how they wanted Cullen to be, and on the other you have the dev tweet saying that Cullen was meant to be bisexual in DA:I but they 'ran out of time.'
Uh, what? And from what info are you exactly bashing this claim?
Sorry for the late reply...all I'm saying is there was no sense to how in game 1 he was straight, there was a pretty big want for him to be bi before 3 came out, and then in 3 he is bi.
I am not bashing that he was bi only that they seemed to change it without any real reason except to make him available to all.
Same reason I gave for not wanting Cullen to be changed, it would have been fine if he was to begin with but he wasn't.
And yes I am well aware in concept he was intended to be bi but that never made it past the game being launched because they chose for him to be straight.
I think that that a character's sexuality "feeling right" or "feeling wrong" to the author is generally okay. But saying a sexuality doesn't "fit his/her personalty" is different altogether and doesn't make sense to me. To me saying a character sexuality specifically feels right is allowing the choice to be somewhat beyond control and beyond justification. Saying that it doesn't fit a personality sounds like one's personality influences their sexuality. So maybe that's the question I should be pondering: how much, if any, influence does one's personality have on shaping one's sexuality?

None of this matter though, in the end he was made straight and there is that. The end.

It occurs to me that if Cullen and Druffy could have both been bi and hooked up, Druffy probably would have kept poor Cullen warm in that drafty tower with no roof.
Taking everything into account. What the f*uck does it really matter.
Sounds like you're completely aware that whatever you want to say is heterosexist garbage.
Harsh ....and no you don't know that. I will say this . There is zero evidence that the man holds any desires for the same sex . Nor past or present . Even with a great character like Doran who I wanted as a LI after Cullen is a SS LI . And people are still bitching . Making Cullen bi was consider and nothing more . Be grateful for what you have . I am.
From what I can see the fandom is acting like a class of spoiled children .
