I realize this thread won't get much (if any) traction, because it's unlikely that many here play Telltale games (such as The Walking Dead of Game of Thrones).

But for those who do, and enjoy them ...

Would you like to play a Telltale game set in the Dragon Age (or Mass Effect) universe?

And if so, what would your Telltalle game be about? Who would the main character be and what troubles would he or she face?

Not sure.  Telltale's latest efforts feel more like interactive stories rather than games and they are becoming very formulaic.

I'd actually guess that the crossover between people who play BioWare games and people who play Telltale games would be pretty high given that both developers focus heavily on storytelling.

To that end, it would seem kind of pointless for Telltale to make a Dragon Age or Mass Effect game. It's fantastic that they make The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones because you'd want story-focused games based on those licenses, and having them make a Borderlands game is awesome because the main games are more focused on loot'n'shoot than characters, but what need is there for a Telltale Dragon Age game?

Plenty of people here actually do seem to like Telltale's games.

Although personally while I do like their stuff and probably would play such a game, I like my Dragon Age or Mass Effect to have more combat with it. Especially Mass Effect.

Yes I'd go for it. Probably wait until all episodes are released berfore jumping though.

It's been about 3 months since the first Tales from the Borderlands episode was released which is, in a word pathetic at best. Very very poor.

I liked their take on Monkey Island, but other games by them have felt stale. I'm not sure Imwould play a Telltale Dragon Age game.

I would certainly play a Telltale Dragon Age game - I think my love for the setting would overcome the feeling that their games have become rather samey and short on actual gameplay.

As for what the benefits would be - there are all kinds of potential stories about Thedas that could be told better if they weren't burdened by the need to have the protagonist stab someone to death every few minutes. Just for starters, they could do a story set at the Orlesian court.

I've never played a Telltale Game, though I've heard of them and watched A Wolf Among Us played by GamerMD83. I'd definitely be interested in a Dragon Age Telltale Game, because...Dragon Age!

Maybe it would be interesting to see a minor NPCs story, like Lisette's or Mineave's. Or maybe a game where we get more insight into Corypheus.

I'd buy it. I'd buy two if Telltale still had the same writers that made the first season of The Walking Dead so great on board.

I like where you are going with this for sure, but not sure TellTale is up for it. Definitely more interactive story than actual game. Anyone play the game Life is Strange? Well done, and like Telltale, except huge improvement on gameplay. Someone like that should do it!

That's what I was thinking, too. Having to shoehorn combat into a story seriously limits where you can take that story.

A Telltale game would allow us to experience a more complex Dragon Age story than we're used to.

Playing a bard could be fun. Maybe a double agent who (like you said) infiltrates the Orlesian court and has to play the Grand Game skillfully to avoid arousing suspicion.

Always ready for Telltale games! Wait, I doubt that Minecraft -Story Mode- would be any good.

Loving everything Telltale at the moment. Would play the hell out of a DA Telltale.

What defines a game nowadays? I've seen playthroughs on youtube, there's barely any player agency. It's more of an interactive style story where you get to push some buttons. Choices definitely are more impactful and the narratives are well developed. But that's about it. I personally find it boring.

@shaftell They've replaced TV for me. They're like "more stuff in the same world."

Like, I liked the Game of Thrones books. The TV series was the same content, though. Telltale GOT is like a new take on the same setting. Different characters, different perspectives on the same characters.

They're certainly easy to play. I like my hardcore gaming experiences, but gotta sit down with a wine and relax sometime. My husband is a non-gamer and he played right through The Walking Dead. (Very rare for him.)

For me, it's just "more content in a setting I know and love." It's easy.

I would probably enjoy it greatly.

You do need to accept their games for what they are when going in. There won't be much gameplay to go around, but the story will most likely be good to great.

Nah I'm still miffed over how they handled TWD S2E5.

I would have until John Riccitiello joined the board of Telltale. Now I won't touch them with a barge pole.

Personally, I really really love Telltale games but would not want them to create a Dragon Age game.

It's not only Telltale who do "Telltale games" though - I enjoyed Ep 1 of Life is Strange a lot, too. It has become shorthand for this type of game but I hope other developers follow suit because I really like this kind of game but I've always liked my games to have a heavy narrative focus, so no surprise there. :)

I don't like Telltale's engine though - I played TWAU and LOVED it (oh god it's so good, go and play it everyone!) but I thought the look of the game was an artistic choice, TWAU being based on comics and all... but then I noticed that all of them games look like that, and I'm not a big fan of it. I have TWD1+2, Borderlands and GoT here but I need to get around and play them... TWD1 Ep 1 was a surprising let down after TWAU so I haven't been keeping up.

But if Bioware's writers would write a "Telltale" game set in the DA universe, I'd be all over it. I'm intrigued with what could be done with the setting if narrative was the only concern. I'm sure it would be awesome. I'm not sure I'd be as interested in a game made by Telltale... but ah who am I kidding, of course I'd play that too. But why hire Telltale if you have awesome writers already? :)

dragon age and the elder scrolls skyrim.. morrowind .. oblivion .. drakensang and many more are rpg.

telltale games like game of thrones are no rpg. i love telltale games but i wouldn't like that rpg are converted into the telltale game style.

i noticed that  you don't like a large free open world rpg with plenty of different tasks and options  ...maybe a telltale game would be a better choice for you but not for me.

I watched a GoT playthrough the other week and was totally underwhelmed by it. It's not for me the story just didn't seem up to the standard of the series and it lacked the epicness of the books and TV series.

I would probably watch somebody else do a lets play rather  than play the game myself.

I'd play it. I play games primarily for characters, story, and roleplaying. All of the the things I like most minus all the fetch quests, camp finding, and rift closing? Sold.
