I'd like to thank Bioware for being so inclusive to many kind of players. They are only company I know to include diverse cast of characters in their games.

I said that?  Wow.  Huh.  I must have been in an altered state when I wrote that post and then deleted it...which post did I say that you have to be verbally hungry for both genders to be bisexual?  I can't seem to find it.

See...I am thinking I probably wouldn't have said that as I am someone who society would categorize as bisexual and i am not equally yoked nor do I walk  around saying "Hey, I'm Zoe, I'm a bisexual, wanna ****?"

The point being that simply assuming that someone isn't bisexual because they haven't explicitly made references to appreciating both sexes doesn't really work.

Just gonna point out the elder scrolls has been doing this for years... there's even gender switching gods (technically the gods have no gender), and one of them, Vivec, he's a hermaphrodite... the guy who made him, Michael Kirkbride even supports art from fans of him as a more feminine figure.

Look around, they're there. You just gotta you know, play something other than dragon age maybe? Lol.

Again, there are not that many examples. Believe me, I know because I actively seek out games with LGBT content. I follow numerous gay gamer blogs and as soon as a game is announced to have LGBT content, I check it out. I don't buy all of them, but it's the tipping point for most that I'm on the fence with. My rationale is that I can offer positive reinforcement for developers who include LGBT content. If there are 2-3 games in a year with LGBT content, that's a good year.

All that being said, it's far less common than you and some others here are implying. Again, Bioware is far from the only developer to include them, but they are the most consistent and do it the best, in my opinion. We can name other examples, but that's silly to do because: a) no one is saying that there AREN'T other examples; and b.) the very idea that we can 'name the others' shows how few there are. Again, imagine if I said, 'Let's name the straight guy characters!' We'd be here for days and most of us would be able to pull dozens and dozens and dozens of examples out without even thinking.

As LGBT characters and themes become more and more common, this will become less of an issue. It's already better now than it was 5 years ago. But we are still not seeing it happen consistently. And when it does happen, we still see tons of people complaining about it 'being shoved down their throats'. So, until that mindset diminishes, Bioware and other developers like them will continue to get praise for doing what they do.

People would complain less about stuff being shoved down their throats when people stop making a big deal about their existence. I doubt most people would have said anything about Krem for instance if no one mentioned it. I sure wouldn't have. My reaction was. "Okay, kewl. Moving on." And the majority of the conversations about Krem had people reacting the same way until people started talking about Krem for being "the trans character" instead of just a character who happens to be trans.

In other words, it may seem like it's helping, but you're really just shooting yourself in the foot, here, especially if your goal is to make this normal to others. Otherwise, we're just stuck here thinking "Umm, okay?" Even I do this when people are like "Oh what a great black character". No, it's a great character. Being black or mexican or whatever is no more significant than them being a lefty or a righty. Bioware will continue to make this sort of content so long as they get monetary support.

This sort of thing however just does yourself a disservice, truly. I get that it's a big deal for you, even if I don't see it, but seriously. It's just ironic to put people up on a pedestal for being this way or that, plus a good character if you're shooting for normalcy.

I think the difference is that these characters often are very minor and can be easily missed. In Bioware they are part of main cast. You can interact with them, their sexuality/gender/etc. are part of them, sometimes even part of their story and Bioware doesn't shy away from it.

I couldn't care less if a character is gay, lesbian, straight, transgendered or any other type of sexuality. I also couldn't care less if a character is black, white, rivaini, antivan, orlesian or ferelden.

Nationality, skin color, sexual preference are surface attributes of a person. Should we judge Dorian by his sexuality and not his willingness to fight against everything wrong with his homeland? Varric by his chest hair and not his wit? Cassandra by her position of seeker and not her faith in the maker? (Inspiration from Solas dialogue)

Yes, Dorian is gay, but being gay is not the start and end of his character. It's only a facet. I happen to like him just fine because I find him utterly charming and intelligent and I respect his decision to oppose the worst parts of his homeland while also singing its virtues, like its culture and history, and how you could go down a side street and not find anything made in the modern world (for Thedas that is.) While Sera is a character I have no real opinions on as how I treat her is based entirely on how I'm roleplaying that particular Inquisitor, but I do find her annoying and her being a lesbian has absolutely nothing to do with my opinion of her while her childishness is grating. But I loved playing pranks with her.

Krem, I really like because he is forthright, can give as good as she takes in banter with Iron Bull, does his duty and tells great stories of the chargers missions. And if you side with the Qunari and gain the alliance by saving the dreadnaught, Cole will tell Iron Bull that Krem's last thoughts were "Horns up." Loyal to the last moment. He/she being a transgendered character merely was topping to someone I already liked.

It's cool that Bioware is including these aspects of these characters, but I don't judge characters based on these parts of them. But more often than not, whether in games or real life, if someone came out and told me that part of themself and expect a huge reaction from me, they're going to be disappointed. I would look at them and go, "Okay? Good for you." I simply don't care what someone is or isn't. If they aren't hurting anybody in real life, and if their on the same side as my character in my video games, they can be what they want to be and I'll be what I want to be. Don't criticize me and my choices, like religion or hobbies (in real life and in game, I'm looking at you Sera when talking to a Dalish Elf and their beliefs after the Arbor Wilds) and I won't criticize you.

I never saw a need to get hung up on this part of a character in a game or a person in real life. Either to defend them based on that or to attack them for the same reason. It's only a superficial thing and doesn't define who a character or a person is.

I like their games and refuse to play games where I can't be "me" (female) in a game.

You can't be "you" in any game. Female/male, is a very miniscule part of what a person is.

Um, no. Maybe for you, but being a male is a big part of what I am to me.

Just once on this forum, I would like someone to kindly say, "I may have misunderstood you, but are you saying______________?" Instead of assuming what someone means (usually the worst).

That would like...cool or something.

its the bsn manner/courtesty are in near none-existant

Of course, thinking that men and women are different is a pretty common stance.

No I don't, though others might disagree.

There are differences between men and women, this is a fact. But the differences aren't so big that they limit you in everything you do.

That said, societal roles didn't show up out of the blue for no reason. Some of this is encoded. It just doesn't mean we have to obey the coding. Our society is safe enough now that men don't have to stick to physical jobs while women watch kids and bear children, etc.

Men and women are very similar, enough that we can understand eachother just fine, and we're programmed to understand eachother. But we're not the same.

Don't know if that makes me sexist or not. I think women can wear pants and drive cars just fine, so I'd say not.

It's good to know that the dead horse producers of America stay in business, thanks in large part to the BSN.
