I never liked the blood spatter on the characters' faces in the previous games. This was because the blood always looked somewhat brown on my screen, so it looked like Sten diarrhea'd all over the rest of us.
I really miss dragon age blood splatter...

Or Oghren sat on your face and mistook you for a toilet after a hard night on the grog...

It's there.I never saw any blood during the DA:I combat. Mostly just sparkles, flash, and over the top animations.
But I get the impression you're more interested in scoring rhetorical points than actually having a discussion.

DAO' s splatter, on release, was excellent. But then they ruined it in a patch (as they so often do with gameplay features I enjoy).

It would have been cool if the reaver specialization came with added blood and gore on the character...just as a cool touch where a mechanic has environmental effect...

Maybe I'm the only one who missed those scenes of hanging out with Alistair in the midst of 50 corpses, dripping with blood, and cheerfully chatting about our companions.
Always loved it though, it was uniquely "dragon age".
I hereby surrender the thread.
No, you're not the only one. One of my favorite moments is a playthrough where my warden got deathgripped by the ogre in the circle tower. I was like, "Aaaah mah peeps, save me!" And then my man Alistair did exactly that, triggering the kill animation and taking that bastard out. We stood there, covered with blood, on that ogre's corpse. And it was glorious.

Several times in DA2, I thought it was rather disturbing, how Sarcastic Hawke would be standing there quipping while pretty much covered in the blood of her enemies.
Also, wow, the Thedosian equivalent of Scotch Guard must be incredible, because none of those stains hung around very long.

I always found it a bit amusing myself. I like in MoTA, if Isabela is in the group, she'll tell Hawke not to forget to loot the bodies, with Hawke responding "Do I ever?" XD

I liked the over the top blood in origins and if you got sick of it you could ask dog to give you a wash (though I think I'd prefer to be covered in blood than dog slobber).
I thought the over the top blood worked particularly well for the city elf, with her wedding dress covered in blood. Especially since the guards will notice the blood so if you want to trick the guards instead you have to change your clothes (I think its more fun to bust out the murder knife though).
Hair was magical though and repelled all blood.
I also really liked the power of blood talents from the soldiers peak dlc. Blood fury was my favourite (one of the warrior talents) the warden would stab herself and spray tainted blood everywhere. I remember accidentally pressing the button to use it in camp once when I was trying to talk to Leliana so instead the warden sprayed blood all over her, looked pretty funny.

Nothing like deciding to smother your LI with kisses in the middle of the Deep Roads with Dark Spawn blood splattered over the two of you.

Theres definitely blood, and mud splatter in Inquisition.. The color of it is spot on.. But the pattern it leaves (can be) pretty bad..Some look great though... Though atleast this time they incorporated smearing.. However, with mud especially, it gets this large checkered pattern.. Like the IQ's overcoat is meshed in 6 pieces, and they will have both bottom layers get muddied, skip a middle layer, then a top layer will have it again.. So you have a perfectly clean square between the top, and bottom.. The lines where the coat is brought togther, forget to cover in spatter.. I believe its broken down in this way, for the flowing action of the coat.. So it flaps in the breeze.. Unfortunately, as i said, it causes irregular mud/blood patterns...There are screen shots of it somewhere...
On a side note, i was disappointed with teh change inthe way Darkspawn looked from Da:o to DA2, and it now seems, theyre simply skeletons...I puled a closeup on a darkspawn archer in the Coast, anbd was very saddened by how bad it looked.. Even the textures were pretty low rez, now that i think of it.. Upon close inspection..They went from dark, gritty, evil creatures.. To skeleton faced, creatures, to mere skeletons...I dont even remember seeing an Ogre in DA:I now that i think of it?!?

I agree that the blood-spatter is far more realistic, I mean, look at that gorgeous absorption pattern on the fabric and spatter pattern on the skin! I have far bloodier shots, but this one is pretty average (as a knight enchanter who uses both ranged and hand-to-hand combat):

Cheers! If I'm going to look at something for 90+ hours, it's got to be pretty.

I love how NPCs also get in on the blood splatter:
