For DAO I loved the City Elf best (dual-wielding rogue seemed best storywise), then Mage Elf, then Dwarf Commoner (two-handed warrior).

For DAI:

Elf Mage

Dwarf Archer

Qunari Mage

(I can't stand melee combat in DAI. Enemies move around too much, so I hate having my finger on autoattack and chase them around and remember which button to press for each situation. With magic and archery? No problem. Just stand there with your finger on autoattack and the spells and arrows always hit their mark.)

My 'default' main is usually a mage and usually an elf - in fact, I pretty much always start with a sort of elf mage 'tempelate' and she usually evolves to my main. Then there's human rogue as a second choice and then... well, it depends on a game.

Naturally, my main in DAI is an elf mage... and since I'm a perfectionist as well as completionist, I couldn't really end it on first imperfect run, so I re-played it, LOL. I've also finished the game with my human rogue. Now I'm torn between race and gender while planning to run the game again as a warrior.

No problem.

I think it's interesting that the most popular option is a female human mage (since everyone used to say it was going to be male human warrior or male human mage).  I also think it's interesting that humans, while the most popular race, lost some numbers since they were at 80% in DA: O, but are down around 60% with this data.  That being said, 6 of the 7 top combinations are the 6 human options.

I'm surprised male human warrior would have been so popular. I'd have guessed male qunari warrior was more popular.

And female human mage only slightly less popular than male human mage. Then again, Leliana was the most popular romance in Origins, over Morrigan, and I'd have thought she the most popular.

Surely the most popular gender, race, class, Origin and Origins romance combination though, would have to be: male human Circle mage and Morrigan.

Human, Warrior, Champion.  Why?  Because it's good to be Champion!

Any kind of Rogue. Playing any other class I find myself thinking during a fight, "Just hurry up and die already!"

Race and gender are irrelevant to me but because I enjoyed my Artificer and Assassin most, Elf and Qunari were my favourites.

Human rogue, all day, most days.(someone's gotta open the chests and unlock those traps and make the poison)

Human warrior when I feel like being edgy and invincible.

Never liked playing Mage, or ranged combat in general. I like going up to my enemies' face and slashing/bashing the **** out of them until they go down.

I can't remember for sure, but I'm pretty sure that male human noble warrior was the most popular combination in the first game.  Don't quote me on it, though.

Oh wow, I didn't realize that Human Male Warrior was second place.

Does that mean I get special snowflake points?

I played a elf rogue (probably main character)

I don't like that line of thinking. Having a main or canonical player character, I mean. It makes it feel like the non-canonical PC isn't as important for roleplaying as the canonical one, so there's no reason to try to pick the correct dialogue options. It just feels like a waste of time, since it's a roleplaying game. So it's like, you're just playing for the sake of playing, rather than for the sake of enjoying the game. So I don't do that. I prefer to think of it as the ones being imported (i.e. used in the Keep for future games) are all equally important. If that makes sense.

Oh, well either the male Human Noble warrior or the male human Circle mage, plus Morrigan.

I know that the Human Noble was the most popular Origin.

I have a canon character for each game too. The others, while I still RP them, are more like "What if" playthroughs or alternative realities. They're not less important, just different decisions that may have taken place. I like to think of it like the alternative endings to the movie, "Clue."

"Here's how it could have been, but this is what really happened."

For me, "canon" is generally my first, unspoiled playthrough. While sure, different things happen different playthroughs, a good chunk is always gonna be spoilered. I like to think my in-the-dark choices are the "real" ones. The rest is too easily manipulated. Doesn't mean I like my follow-up characters any less, though. :)

Me too.  This is how I do it as well.  I have a 'canon' playthrough in all of the games that serves as my main import data.  And I have a back-up canon playthrough where I make a bunch of 'alternate' decisions to see how different the game can be because of my choices.

Main "canon":

DA: O - male dwarf noble warrior - romanced Zev - Alistair is king with Anora; sided with mages, didn't destroy the ashes, Harrowmont on the throne, brokered peace for the werewolves and elves, and Alistair did the ritual with Morrigan

DA 2 - male mage Hawke - romanced Anders - sided with the mages, defended Isabela from the Arishok, and......(were there other major decisions....?)

DA: I - male qunari warrior - romanced Dorian - allied with the mages and Wardens, Hawke sacrificed, and Morrigan drank from the well

Alternate "canon":

DA: O - female dwarf commoner rogue - romanced Leliana - Anora rules alone; sided with the templars, destroyed the ashes, Bhelen on throne, sided with the werewolves, and no one did the ritual

DA 2 - female rogue Hawke - romanced Isabela - sided with the templars, defended Isabela from the Arishok

DA: I - female dwarf rogue - romanced Blackwall - allied with the templars, exiled the Wardens, Stroud sacrificed, and Inquisitor drank from the well

And, I've done a few other playthroughs for all of the games, as well.  I just don't import them into the next game.

Oh, and communism is a red herring in all of my playthroughs as well!

All of them, but human is my canon. They're all males though. I'm bad at role-playing.

Elf fits for my main playthrough perfectly, but I don't want to have a canon PC with a British voice. I'm not a big fan of it and American doesn't go well with that tiny body.

Now, classes- again, all of them, but rouge archer seems to be the most fun class to play for me. I always play as a mage in RPGs mainly, but archer is a big surprise this time. So. Much. Fun.

For me, my "canon" playthrough is the one that holds all the choices I want to carry through to the next game. It doesn't make my other playthroughs less important... Say, I want to play an evil playthrough just for fun. It's still important and I still learn a lot about the game and enjoy the game. But it's not "canon" because I actually don't want Redcliffe Village to have been destroyed by my Warden when I move on to DA2.

That said, at times, I will re-play my canon playthroughs just because those end up being the ones I enjoy most. But I don't discount my other experiences even if they aren't "kept." I mean, I still had fun.

I play as all of them if i had to pick a fav for inquisition alone it's a toss up between elf mage and dwarf warrior. Elf mage fits the story perfectly but dwarf warrior actually plays out pretty well too if the hero ferelden was dwarven.

If I love the game then I play every possible combination (well, not every human combination but if I like the game I will do 1 male and 1 female human) :) I usually start with male elf mage or maybe archer.

I have a tendency to roll dwarven dual-wielders and elven archers. Most of my PCs are one or the other, with the exception of Hawke, who was a mage.

In DAI, I've currently got a DW rogue Cadash, an archer Lavellan, another archer Lavellan... :P

I typically play elves and mages in my canon playthroughs. Although I did roll other characters to see what their stories were like in Origins, I only completed with my mage and am almost there with the Human Warrior, the dwarves I'm having a hard time getting past Ostagar.  :)

DAO - male elf mage, romanced Zevran, placed Alistair on the throne; male Human warrior,

DA2 -  male Hawke, Mage, romanced Anders, exiled Anders, sided with the mages (I actually rolled one of each class, romanced Fenris in one, my warrior romanced and killed Anders, sided with the Templars and became Viscount)

DAI - male elf mage, romanced Ironbull, allied with the mages, drank from the well, Leliana as Divine

      - male elf rogue, romanced Dorian, allied with the Templars, Morrigan drank from the well, Cassandra as Divine

       - male human rogue, fervent Andrastian, romanced Cassandra (haven't gotten very far yet)

       - male Qunari 2H warrior, romanced Dorian. Thinking about rolling a sword and board female, race undecided at this point, warrior to romance Josie.  And I'm definitely rolling a Qunari for Sera.  :)
