Dragon Age Origins: Always rogue. Doesn't matter what race they are - even if my personal favourites are Dalish or Human Noble - because it gives me the liberty to have Leliana in my party because I want to, not because I need to.
Dragon Age II: Mostly mage, combat is awesome with them.
Dragon Age Inquisition: I've only played two Quizzies thus far, to be honest: human mage and human warrior. They were both great fun though, for different reasons each. ![]()
What race/class do you play?

I've had lots of starts (then run into the banter bug or lose interest or something else happens and stop). The ones I've stuck with were:
- Andrastan male human 2h templar warrior who romanced Cassandra. I almost never play males, but I *heart* Cassandra and I admit that this guy was totally awesome and fun, turns out I loved grapple chaining someone in and then beating on them. Only character I've played through the complete main quest with.
- Female Dalish rogue archer, who romanced Sera even as she was fairly elfy (in fact, she insisted on romancing another elf just because of this...but don't tell Sera). This was a great character. I loved her right up until Patch 4 hit late game, breaking a lot of stuff. I've tried to restart a game post-patch as a female dalish archer, but the magic is gone. Maybe if more time passes.
- Currently Qunari female mage riding the Bull. Rapidly losing interest. I like mages more in theory than in actual game play, but maybe if I choose a specialization I haven't played before it will become more fun. Necro maybe? I got fairly high - level 17 - with a female elf rift mage romancing Solas, but boredom took over there, too (more with the mage part, then the Solas part, but not entirely).
- Next will be DW, not sure which race. I had a duel wield Dwarf fairly far along, but while I liked him, I was disappointed at how little dwarven stuff was in this game and for some reason just never connected with him, enjoyed Dwarfs much more in DA:O. Although I will say that the cut romance scenes with Cassandra weren't that bad, not great, but not as bad as expected and certainly no worse than all of the scenes where everyone speaks to my Qunari's breasts (although they are real and they are magnificent, so who blames Cullen, Sera and Josephine for staring).
- Also tempted to play some sort of warrior elf, just because it seems almost no one does. And at some point, I want to romance Cassandra with an elfy elf, just because. Ditto Dorian.
Couldn't get through DA:2, but was almost always a DW rogue in Origins, particularly fond of the City Elf.

I have plans to play all races/classes but so far I have:
Female Human Warrior (Templar) - "canon playthrough"
Female Human Warrior (Reaver)
Female Human Warrior (Champion)
Female Human Mage (Knight Enchanter)
Female Qunari Mage (Necromancer)
Female Elf Mage (Rift)
Female Qunari Rogue (Tempest DW)
Female Human Rogue (Assassin DW)
Female Elf Rogue (Artificer Archer)
Because I wan to see all romances, I will eventually roll:
Male Human Warrior (Templar 2h)
Male Human Mage (not sure on spec, maybe KE)
Female Dwarf Rogue (not sure on spec, but DW)

I went with qunari and human. In both cases I used a human and that's not likely to change. My race decision is based mostly on what I can do with the character creator. In the case of the qunari I wanted a fierce beauty while in the case of the human I wanted a cute killing machine. If you've ever seen hellsing ultimate I was feeling inspired by Seras.
I tried to do something with an elf. With their small stature I thought it'd be absolutely adorable seeing one shredding a group of soldiers or demons. However, I just couldn't get a face I was happy with. They all looked rather unappealing to me. Now a female dwarf can be absolutely adorable but they can't be mages so that's where that idea dies.

Always human, always mage and always male.

Human male rogue is my favorite, and that's what all three of my canon DA characters are, but I've also played female, mage, and warrior Inquisitors. I've also played once as a dwarf and once as a qunari.

I play everyone, I like to experience all perspectives and role play with it. That said my canon characters, who are philosophically representative of myself, are always Male Mages. I might change that tradition, eventually, depending on the circumstances.
Dragon Age Origins (10 characters)
-Elf Male Mage (Talion Surana, canon Warden)
-Elf Male Mage
-Female Elf Rogue (Archer)
-Female Elf Rogue (Dual Wield)
-Male Elf Rogue (Dual Wield)
-Human Male Warrior (Dual Wield)
-Human Female Rogue (Dual Wield)
-Human Male Mage
-Dwarf Male Warrior (Two Handed)
-Dwarf Female Rogue (Dual Wield)
Dragon Age 2 (6 characters)
-Donovan Hawke, Male Mage (canon Hawke)
-Garrett Hawke, Male Mage
-Skye Hawke, Female Rogue (Dual Wield)
-Walter Hawke, Male Warrior (Weapon and Shield)
-Aedan Hawke, Male Warrior (Two Handed)
-Richard Hawke, Male Rogue (Archery)
Dragon Age Inquisition (11 characters)
-Human Male Mage (Christoph Trevelyan, canon Inquisitor)
-Human Male Warrior (Weapon and Shield)
-Human Female Rogue (Dual Wield)
-Elf Male Mage
-Elf Male Rogue (Archer)
-Elf Female Mage
-Elf Female Warrior (Weapon and Shield)
-Dwarf Male Warrior (Two Handed)
-Dwarf Female Rogue (Dual Wield)
-Qunari Male Warrior (Two Handed)
-Qunari Female Mage

Dwarven master race.
My main is a dwarven, female, DW rogue named Sorelle. She's regally pretty (at least as regally pretty as it's possible to make a dwarf), and has short, funky, practical, tom-boyish brown hair and a very pale complexion. She speaks with an English accent.
In my personal headcanon she's is a former carta "agent". (She has a mask-like tattoo over her eyes to illustrate this rank.)
The agents are the smartest and most resourceful operatives the carta has, and they tend to work alone or in very small groups.
They're basically the underworld, dwarven equivalent of Spectres -- hence why Sorelle was chosen to spy on the Chantry conclave.

When it comes to gameplay, mages in this game are dull and boring. Pick warrior or rogue.

My preferred class is DW rogue and I usually go with an elf the first time through, though dwarf commoner in DAO was one of my favorites. I didn't like playing as a warrior in DAO, and preferred mages and rogues. I LOVED playing as a mage in DA2, and had some fun as a two-handed warrior in one of my games. I've only played rogues and mages in DAI, and I have to say that so far Archer Assassin has been my favorite. But I have taken over Cass and Blackwall a few times and I have to say, that was pretty fun, so I think my next game will be sword and board.
So canon games:
DAO: Female Dalish DW Assassin Rogue romanced Zevran
DA2: Female Force Mage romanced Fenris
DA3: Female Dalish Archer Assassin romanced Solas
(My canon is a bit elfy...)

DAO Human male noble warrior (possible prince) fits the entire story perfectly especially with Howe and Loghain and the Amaranthine fortress of awakening.
DAII female or male sarcastic hawke rouge who want to protect their sister.
