Were Desire Demons cut because they are controversial?

Ishmael could have been hotter but I'd still bang. Little disappointed about the virgins though.

I think that the Desire Demons not having appeared in the game does make a certain kind of sense.
Desire Demons are more prone to subtle manipulation, making deals and pulling strings from the background, unlike most of the demons we encounter in the game (Rage, Terror, Horror, Envy and Pride Demons to name a few) who tend to be more aggressive in how they operate?
Sure, the Desire Demon that took over Connor was raising the Dead to attack Redcliffe, but it's vessel was safely protected in a massive, impenetrable fortress, while the Demon itself puppeted Connor safely in the Fade.
Compare that to the Pride Demon who took over Uldred, who's own sense of superiority caused him to unleash hordes of demons on Circle Tower and attempt to turn the remaining mages into Abominations, rather than attempt to escape.
Unlike the Desire Demon in Redcliffe who was in a safe place, patient and had all the time in the world to act, the Pride Demon was basically living on borrowed time since once the Templars got reinforcements to enact the Rite of Annulment, they'd have razed the tower to the ground along with everything inside.
As such, I think that despite their natural desire (pardon the expression) to want to experience Thedas, a Desire Demon is simply too cautious to have wanted to leave the safety of the Fade? And if any of them had come through of the Rifts, they'd have probably long since left in search of something to satisfy themselves, instead of hanging around and prowling the area?

Know what other type of demon wasn't in this game? Abominations - those weird meatloaf looking things when someone gets possessed.

I'm sure Bioware had a reason to leave them out too.

Hahahhahaahhhahah no.
Liana Kerzner is maybe the other side of the coin when it comes to Anita Sarkeesian or what people accuse Anita to be. I mean I think she did not even played the game at all. I specially like her complains about Cole, less female fanservice and no old aged females in DA:I. Hilarious stuff.
Here is the link for that article.
Edit: The only thing I can agree with, is the need for more female body types, muscle, fat...etc and more female companions, the rest is just BS.
I had to read that a few times in order to even try grapple with some sort of sense in her argument. The Cole argument especially drove/keeps driving me nuts because it is on that level of insanity. There was no reason for Cole to be male since compassion is a feminine trait?
Although I am slightly happy to read that since the next time someone comes to ask for money on the street, I can just coldly look them in the eye and tell them that I am all man before walking away. I am going ot save so much money.

They surely didn't want to offend the real-life abominations. Like the console players.
That's absurd thing to say.

Ah yes the old "there's no reason to have [insert name] in DAI. None of the plotlines involve them, nor would make any difference if they did." excuse ![]()

I am really confused about these constantly popping up threads about the lack of desire demons, as I really don't understand the central argument. If Bioware decided that the previous design of desire demons was too offensive, but wanted them in the game, wouldn't they have just created a new appearance for them? Why do so many seem to be convinced that this is somehow Bioware going too PC? The Sarkeesian link is even more confusing, but then again I do love reading criticism against her and how many people proclaiming great familiarity with statistics having no damn idea what the word trend means.

Well demons can enter the physical world whenever they want now can't they? They just have to find a rift. No need to go through the hassle of possession.

Yeah, an excuse. I kept wondering why we didn't see any Reapers in DAI. What was the answer? The old "None of the plotlines involved them' excuse.

You are also probably a criminal, all men lack empathy it appears.
That article is just full of gender cliches and bad arguments, if she is telling people Bioware did something like this, it is probably false. The sex scenes and the cleavage of both Vivienne, Morrigan and some other characters are more than enough to conclude that Liana Kerzner probably has no knowledge of the game or play it in a superficial manner.

I think we prefer the terms functional sociopaths.
Yeah the whole article was really weird and I'm still struggling to comprehend several of the arguments. For example the criticism that Bioware is narrowing down female bodytypes by not having ultra-sexy characters. Even after writing it here, I still have no idea how that argument doesn't contradict itself as no other body type options isn't presented. And why would radical feminists push for lack of heavier body types? I keep writing this and my head keeps hurting more and more.
The absolutely weirdest thing, though, for me was the decision to link to Feminist Frequency and how it changing the industry to worse, as it isn't as if Gaider and others at Bioware weren't vocal about these issues even before Sarkeesian started to talk about these things. It also makes me really curious what the author thought of Isabela.

The codex about the Desire demon hints that it takes the apperance of what it's target desire. So the model we saw in the earlier games are probably not it's "true form" at all. Or perhaps people think naked women with purple skin and horns is what everyone in the world desires, both men and women alike?

Bring back desire demons in a DLC....but have them all be male.

Were hunger demons cut because they were offensive to hungry people?
**** gets cut. Don't read stuff into it when there's no need to.
That's a pretty poor cop out to be honest..

Of course, by closing the Rifts, we're essentially slamming the door in the face of any demons that wanted to enter Thedas, forcing them to seek out and possess mages again to sneak across the border... which kinda means that the Inquisitor is majorly screwing over the mages in the long run, eh?
I suspect that soon a sarcastic "Thanks Inquisitor" meme will be making it's rounds on the Sending Stones?

Seems pretty accurate to me..
Consider, if you will, the connection when David Gaider, the lead writer of Dragon Age Inquisition, actively defends Anita Sarkeesian.
That line there explains a lot to me, i think as long as hes in charge i'm done with Bioware..

They weren't very appreciated by writers, Patrick Weekes even makes fun of them in his book.
