Were Desire Demons cut because they are controversial?

True, but that's hardly something restricted to video games.  Yeah, it occasionally happens once in a blue moon on movies, but really, how often do you see, as Sera would put it, "dangle bags" compared to seeing lady bits?

Oh, I know. I'm just responding to the notion that it's "fair".

T*tties are okay when they're on-screen, but a d**k is obscene (and also actually illegal, in many cases outside pornography or private use). I don't understand why.

Yes full male frontal is usually reserved for indie films. It does happens progressively more often nowadays, though, in mainstream.  Penny Dreadfull comes to mind as the most recent one that I can think of.

At any rate, naked 3d bodies look weird.

The nudity in the game is fair. For both men and women, their chests and/or butts are shown and their crotches aren't.

Saying barechest and baretits is the same things is pretty lulzy.

>Also, Sera's crotch is in view during her romance scene.

I wish they weren't only female when in their demon form, I mean that's the real issue with it. Not everyone even desires females, and in a game where being gay is an option it seems silly that desire is exclusively portrayed as female when in its demon form. It would be fine if there was a sexy male version, or if their gender was ambiguous.

Nah they were cut because of bestiality laws. The US bans having sex with anything that looks like goats or rams. Also demons.

I have still to understand what would be so outrageous/wrong/disturbing about desire demons: everyday on TV shows I see far worse things...

I personally think they would have been cut because it seems that, at least so far, only a Pride Demon was capable of being consistently refused.  Sloth demon puts you all out and kills Niall, Desire Demon convinces a Templar she's his wife and they have a family, and a little girl that a talking cat is normal.  Maybe they were cut not due to design reasons but becuase they weren't necessary for this game, or becuase the likelihood that someone would fall for what they offer is too great.  Just throwing guesses out there because maybe I'm too old and too liberal, but I didn't find the desire demon's appearance at all controversial.

Desire Demons were driven away by the Breach because apparently Theodosians no longer have desires.

Notice how less monsters we used to know for this game?

Brood mothers were gross but at least they were compelling... there are no compelling, hideous, and gross monsters in DAI... maybe that spider thing in the fade, but one's not enough.

Darkspawns have gone from hideous monsters to putty patrol rejects from some dumb power ranger show and are reduced in this game to just Hurlocks.

Desire demons are just staples of the series... inclusive is fine, but the devs seem too quick to throw away the past of dragon age, like with the new Qunari. The Arishok was a cool dude, there's no way to replicate his look in the character creator, the eyes, the look aren't even an option.

Before you say, "there's no reason to have [insert name] in DAI. None of the plotlines involve them, nor would make any difference if they did." I don't care, i'm hoping in a DLC or 2 we will get to see them again.

When were they staples of the series? There are two in DA:O, one in the Circle tower and one possessing Connor. After that they don't show up again.

Have you even played DA2? There were a few in that game.

Allure – a desire demon in the Underground Passage encountered during Repentance in The Exiled Prince DLC

Caress – a desire demon encountered during Night Terrors in Feynriel's dream world.

Hanker – a desire demon encountered during Kind of Want.

Xebenkeck – an ancient desire demon encountered during Forbidden Knowledge.

Unnamed desire demon, bound in a chamber in the Grey Warden prison, can be fought during Malcolm's Will in the Legacy DLC.

And only two in DA:O? Don't be stupid, there's more then just 2

Kitty – a desire demon in Wilhelm's Cellar encountered during The Golem in Honnleath in the DLC The Stone Prisoner

and one in the quest called Tears in the Veil from Awakening.

Oh, I forgot the one with kitty. And the one with Fey'nriel.

Still hardly staples of the series.

Personally I feel there just wasn't a place in the story where they really could have fit,  they even state demons that got pulled from the fade due to the breach are driven mad, and feelings of madness would easily override feelings of desire/sloth and so on.

Plus Desire demons normally show when there are those that show strong emotional desires that they can feed off of, but we don't really run into anybody like that in Inquisition so it is understandable that a desire demon would not appear, just as we don't run into anyone who would attract a sloth demon.

Depends on what you mean by stable, there aren't that many Drell in Mass Effect series overall but they didn't remove/change their design game to game. Infact I'd say there are less instances of Drell in ME series than Desire Demons in DA series.

I think it's actually much stranger that there are no Hunger demons in evidence. You'd think that they'd jump at the chance to come through the rifts, being relatively low-powered. I can see the Desire Demons being a lot more cautious about leaping into the material world with the Inquisitor standing right there, but Hunger demons aren't that smart.

Desire Demons aren't effective as mindless mooks. They're not very intimidating.

Think there should have been more places where there was some actual possessions going on, that would be a good role for the Desire Demons.

...and what about abominations? sylvans? golems? rock wraiths? ash wraiths? skeletons? ogres? shrieks?

Where they also too controversial?

Only paying attention to those one or two monsters that incidentally happened to have boobs, says more about the people who bring it up than any agenda by the developers...

One of the many reasons why this game doesn't have them. Always the same dumb answer, "there's no reason to have [insert name] in DAI. None of the plotlines involve them, nor would make any difference if they did." As i said the devs seem too quick to throw away the past of dragon age monsters that we all come to know and love since they felt the time would be better spent elsewhere and as with all things there were definite sacrifices made as a result of the decision for this game.

Saying barechest and baretits is the same things is pretty lulzy.

Saying breasts and penises/vaginae are the same in terms of nudity is even more lulzy.

They are.

Her vagina is never seen in her scene. In fact, her model doesn't even have one.

I personally didn't miss the desire demons at all. I did miss the option of making my female player character look sexy though. (Though to be fair, that was also missing from previous DA games.)
