Hello, I'm not DeckardWasAReplicant and this is not (yet) my favorite thread on the Citadel.

 

But. What weapons do you find the dullest to use? I ask because I have been using the Collector Assault Rifle (because challenge points, yah) and realizing that it's making me nod off from boredom mid-game.

 

Feel free to share the vitriol. Extra points(*) for edong posts like "well, the PPR is dull because it's so powerful that I score 300k on Gold with my eyes closed".

 

 

 

(*) Points can be exchanged on demand for a slap with a diseased A-bomb.

Acolyte, Venom, ADAS... weapons that you don't need to aim are the most boring for me.

 

Unlike you, due to its accuracy I find CAR a fun weapon to use, because its performance corresponds so well to the shooter's skill. There's no skill ceiling, you can always acquire targets faster and  track them better, and that means that every single time I play with it, I have the optimal tool to focus on improving my skill on those areas.

I would say GSMG, but it´s not dull when it makes my blood boil, so I´ll go with Geth Assault Rifle.

I am not a fan of guns that limit my power use (heavy snipers are an exception because scoping in is kinda fun; crusader is borderline because of its unique single pellet shotgun design).

 

Guns like PPR, typhoon, harrier are basically high DPS guns that really don't need you to do much - press a button and shoot-shoot-shoot (too monotonous and boring for me). Guns like revenant, spitfire that fall in this category are a lot more fun because they have a more drawbacks.

IMO the Spitfire makes too little damage for an UR weapon + speed reduction is so meh.

I happen to enjoy mowing down the enemy in a hail of lead, plasma, or whatever.  You can never have too much firepower!

Vindicator. Burst fire, but not even the good burst fire AR. So disappointing and therefor dull.

Eviscerator. Assuming you have access to all guns, there is just nothing special about the Eviscerator.

Locust and Tempest. First I can't tell them apart. (OK, I can, but you get the point.) Second there is nothing interesting about either one.

N7 Valiant. I'm sorry marksmad but other than its super quick reload, this gun is just a worse Black Widow and therefor dull to use. It doesn't do anything better or different than any other SR.


Predator and Phalanx. Yeah, I know, if I were more leet I'd use them for style, but they feel so dull, wimpy, and uninteresting compared to the wide variety of other Pistols.

But seriously, I think the explosive weapons are dull. Krysae, Falcon, Venom, Acolyte etc. I could never see myself playing a whole game with one as my primary. Scorpion is okay because it sticks to things in an amusing manner. 

 

PPR and CSR are also boring because they behave like laser pointers instead of firearms.

For me, the quick reload is a selling point.  It means I don't have to worry about reload-cancelling.  If one were feeling uncharitable, one could look at that as choosing the gun in order to cover a L2P issue.  The way I see it, the gun being easier to use makes it more accessible, more fun and thus less dull.

 

On the other hand, I can't one-shot Phantoms with it.

 

Looking forward to eventually unlocking the Black Widow, though.  My QFI needs it.

Randall, obviously I expect dullness to be a personal thing. The Valiant, because of its quick reload, favors a different shooting style from the BW, namely a much faster style. Also, because of the insanely fast reload, its sustained DPS can be very high.

 

To other posters in this thread, it's easy to confuse dull with "not effective" or "crap*. The CAR is reasonably effective, I just find it dull because it does nothing interesting. The Argus seems mildly crappy to me but it's not so much dull as frustrating.

Mattock, Revenant and Phalanx for me because every time I use them I'm reminded just how much better they were in ME2.

Specifically in terms of dullness, the Krysae wins for me because I never know how to occupy my time waiting to reload cancel - I could roll a j waiting for that thing!

 

The apparent dullness of the Geth weapons can be mitigated by putting them on the Geth Engineer and timing your explosions.  The Adas isn't terrible on the QMS, if I remember correctly, and the CAR can be made slightly more interesting by using the thermal scope with piercing capabilities, concentrating on headshots.

 

The Valiant is not in any way dull imo.  Not compared to the Reegar, for example.  I would also respectfully disagree with QMR about the CSR, which is many things to me, but dull isn't one of them.  The Argus isn't dull, it's in the airlock, waiting to have a new adventure in space...
