No, I liked the old world, its not role play.
Why people feel the need to judge what others people likes?

What was good about the old world compared to how things are now? I genuinely what to know how you or anyone could actually like how things were before.

There was order, despite tensions. Really either of the world states is going to depend on who you are in that world. I'm sure mages don't think the old world was better, yet I am sure if you are a Tevinter slave - you could really care less either way.

If you really want to know you can send me a PM, I dont want to go off topic.
And when I ment the world before the Inquisition, I ment before the templar vs mage war and Orlais civil war.

Eh, order is overrated if it's supporting a crappy system.

 Solas sayd that he would like an hypotetical world without veil (he have friends among the spirits. Of course he would like to have them in the real world and not only in the fade while sleeping), but he is the first to say that is too much dangerous for both people and spirits, since spirits became deamons because they end up corrupted by the mortals. And he help closing the Veil.

I can't understand where people have taken this idiotic thing Solas want to take away the veil...is just like Iron Bull sayng people would be happier under the qun in banter. no different.

He only stated he want to help the people. Who are these people he is referring we still don't know. Can be city/dalish elves, or elves like Abelas and the others elvhen in the Temple.

I'm going with the assumption that he plans to collapse the Veil and fuse the Fade with Thedas. Could be wrong, but that does seem to have been his intention with reacquiring the foci and getting Corypheus to power it up in the first place. You could also be planning to free the Creators from whatever prison he sealed them in. Regardless, I doubt his plans are ultimately entirely benign for everyone and that they won't require several morally dubious acts to accomplish.

He wants to the elves to be the top dogs again, I think its very clear. And for them rise, the humans needs to fall.

I was thinking something more like this.

The man does look good in a hood. I'll give him that.

It's not a far cry from his tarot card.

Opening the veil is only one of the powers of the foci, however. Solas said he was too weak to activate it. That's why Corypheus had it, and use its power in many different ways, even without the Anchor.

There can be many motivations for Solas to want power, but I can't see him wanting to destroy the Veil. Not after having just helped the Inquisitor at restore it. Wouldn't have been more easy to just let all as it was, if the intent was that? And the fact that he leave the Inquisition just after the foci is broken, means that 1) he is not interested in the remaining power of the Foci, the Anchor, the key to open and close the Veil. 2) whater else the Foci was useful for is what he was interested in.

I'm sure whatever is his plan must be something that will backfire in a very bad way, and have some terrible price (be it on personal level, or not) and very important consequence, but at the same time, I can see a very idealistic and not cruel motivation for it.

The approval system is a bit wonky. I restore the templars and take in the wardens and Solas calls me a thuggish brute even though I've been helping everyone and their grandma by placing their flowers and fetching their rings and medicine and rams and being sweet and nice and what not. He just wasn't there to get the approval points.

That's odd, I've played through both choosing the Mages and choosing the Templars, and we got along well both times. Both times I recruited the Wardens too.

Yeah, I guess the approval is kind of wonky XD

I just found him mildly irritating. Perhaps he responds differently to female qunari? I don't know. He was never outright rude to me when I spoke with him even when I did questionable things, just really, REALLY long-winded. On subsequent playthroughs I am ignoring him entirely for this reason.

I am annoyed at Solas because he can be so pompous and self-righteous. Look at him shake his head in disgust at Fiona when he finds out she allied the rebel mages with the Venatori... yet that move is nothing compared to the ultimate bonehead move of giving Cory the orb. He started the whole mess yet he is still arrogant and self-righteous the whole time.

For me, Solas is the best character in the game.   As for him not liking you, OP.   Did it ever occur to you that you restored the Templars, an organization dedicated to the destruction and enslavement of mages and the eradication of all spirits?

Can you really blame him for taking offense to that?    That said, your Templar Inquisitor SHOULD hate Solas.    That's what Templars do.

Templars want no such thing. The Templars are there to guard mages, not exterminate them, they are there to make sure Mages are safe in themselves, safe from harm to and from others. I understand being locked up in a Circle is no fun but if they are weak they can be possessed by strong demons which in turn can cause more problems (see Connor). They do not want the eradication of spirits, where did you get that from? A spirit is not harm to anyone in spirit form in the fade, yet a demon who wishes to corrupt a mage and in doing so kill or harm others is a threat and must be dealt with.

We were shown in DA2 that no Templar is clean but then no mage is either. Uldred is proof Templars are needed and Meredith is proof mages can be oppressed too much.

Solas on the other hand was an arrogant b***h, too proud to admit he'd messed things up until the very very end.

Solas saved your life. Period.

He is after the orb, but he's also there to help the Inquisition seal the breach and stop Corypheus.

Solas is so going to be an antagonist in DA4.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that it's his fault the breach problem started in the first place.

Please no!
Let his arc be finished in a dlc, we need less elves in Dragon Age.

I like Solas as a character, partly because of his flaws. I mean, he's a racist. That's pretty bad. But it's well done enough that it isn't super apparent.

This is a semantic nitpick really, but what Solas wanted was not a huge tear in the Veil, the destruction of the Conclave and Corypheus poised to attain godhood. As far as what his plans are, we simply don't know, so I don't get why people jump to the worst conclusion.

When he speaks through Cole as to his path he makes it seem quite dark. While the Breach was likely not his goal or desire I'm not sure his actual path is necessarily better.

I'm curious as to how the former glory of the ancient elves would be restored in the first place, since their former glory was apparently a vast empire. Hard to believe that it would be through any peaceful means.

They were immortal and had more powerful magic that could change the foundations of the world. I think that's what he's looking to restore.

I allied with the Templars and kept the Wardens around and, by the end of the game, he'll still claim my way of thinking has destroyed his preconceptions about humans and I will always have his respect.

Try making sense of that.

Solas isn't real, so hating all over an imaginary elf is a waste of time.

I know. What I mean to say is that I don't see this being attempted without a major conflict as a result. To be perfectly honest, from the perspective of a human, I might seek to prevent that, perhaps even by any means necessary.

Solas betrayed the "Forgotten Ones", and the "Old Gods" both, and this caused the entire collapse of Elven society. Rather than trying to fix things, he decided to take a really long nap and play with demons. After his nap, he sets forth in motion a set of events that would collapse human society into oblivion. When that fails, he sucks the soul out of his old "friend". This guy is a massive betrayer.

Even his parting message to you, if you have gained his approval, is "No matter what happens in the future, know I have the utmost respect for you". To me, that says he's probably going to betray you. Made some good Templar/Warden allies? Well, "Solas Greatly Disapproves" because you gained in power. Allying with the mages, however, is an opportunity for future chaos, so that's most welcome. Helping the little people shows Solas you're a chump, so he likes that too. Listening to his nonsense and lies? Ahh, he has you around his finger.

Words are one thing, but actions are quite another. Should be some option to turn this jerkoff tranquil, and save everyone some future headaches.

And I think Solas should go back to his era. I don't like how everything is so elven related in dragon age.
