I tried it.  Solo, perilous, lvl 6 elementalist.  I won.

The good:

It was slightly amusing for about 30 seconds.

The Bad:

Horrible exp. lvl 6 to lvl 8.

Very little gold.  You can't really stop mashing to pick it up.

It felt like the longest run I have ever done.

Almost broke the controller.

I missed out on the fun of playing with friends.

It was very very tedious.

I really can't recommend this mode of play to anyone and I can guarantee that nobody is using this method to climb the leaderboards.

^ Thank you. I was about to try it out, but you have just saved me the time.

I've never seen this before until today. This thread has probably inspired more people to do it than anything else.

We really have to thank Crucible for making us aware of this glitch.

Indeed. Thanks OP. I'm going to spread the word just like you wanted.

Sup with all the hate on Crucible? When PF did a Vutorial with detailed instructions on the p-lvl exploit, ppl had the "audacity" (sarcasm meter off Richter) if it was cheating. The same people who abused that are the same abusing this one (and another "open--secret" glitch). Personally I prefer ppl to write up reports to admins instead of forums because usually if one person starts then it's 10-20 others down the road doing it well. Just because you personally haven't figured out how to capitalize a glitch doesn't mean there's no Volus players who haven't and are teaching everyone else. A post like this could be seen as fair warnings for them to quit while they're ahead.

It's a novelty. Nothing more. No advantage gained beyond learning how AWs feel.

I prefer to be taught glitches and exploits. Borderlands guns that had unlimited ammo and fired off like 150 bullets per second were amazing. Some random guy online was nice enough to teach me how to use it and it was fun as hell.

Many people leave when there is no more challenge. It is easy to reach that point when you have and abuse knowledge of exploits, and for this game, also your knowledge of how ****ing broken some abilities or classes are.

Not sure when this game was all that challenging. Fun though.

This particular one I can't see myself enjoying doing. At least with 12 classes, if something breaks with 1 I don't need to use them. And at least we can leave lobbies with elementalists. Over the years I've played a lot of NHL games, and when it comes to exploits there you sometimes have no choice. There was an online glitch a while back that you could up all your stats to the max so every team you played was ridiculously good. At that point it was join them, get beat down every game or quit playing. But at least in these cases it was an actual glitch that could be fixed, and when everyone was doing it, it didn't break the game it just upped the competition. Not sure how they go about fixing this one since it's just an oversight of game mechanics.

Is this actually appreciably faster?  Doesn't seem practical for anything but killing bosses fast.

Almost the same way they fixed it for the Necromancy (which noone caught onto early on).

No. You walk slower than mobs which is a very big deal if you're fighting for the top spot on leaderboards. So why would you do this over dragging everything to the back of the zone and aoeing them?

It's also kind of painful to mash a button so fast over a long period of time.

We'll see.  For new players (or 'casual players'), I think this is an attractive exploit.  Once they unlock the elementalist, they can start instant winning in perilous for gear/stats... and they don't need anything but the start up gear to do so.

I've noticed an increase in topics about this glitch on other forums shortly after the creation of this thread and they often contain full on instructions on how to perform it. I can't help but think this did more harm than good.

Well, it's the conundrum of the press, isn't it? If someone writes an article like "Kids get high by sniffing mustard" or whatever the ER will see a rise in kids with mustard tubes stuck up their noses. OP is raising awareness about the subject, I didn't know that this was a thing but encountered it soon after reading this thread. I was like "Ah, so this is the glitch they mentioned on BSN, good thing I knew about it and can leave the lobby without mistaking it for some SERIOUS issues with my connection or something."

It isn't any faster than taking a solid group of 4 through perilous speed runs. Besides, its ridiculously boring. If someone wants to promote that badly, enjoy yourself.
