Hey guys,

I need help with best KE armor and staff. What schematics should I use, what materials, what masterwork materials. If someone would share his armor and staff that would be awesome.

I'm fairly certain the best staff you get is from completing Iron Bull's companion quest.

Spoiler

As for armor, it's not clear.  Probably the superior battlemage, although the superior prowler (with leather that lets any class use it) would be best.  Reason for the prowler is you can pump up your crit damage or crit chance.  But I admit, I really don't know.

As far as mastercrafts, there are a few options.  You could mastercraft your weapon for higher damage (boosting all your skills) and then put hidden blades on your armor.  I swear I've seen hidden blades work with spirit blade.  I've seen some use shield bash on hit too, but I can't say I've tried that.

Also, if you haven't started up yet, roll qunari.  The Vitaar boosts your base damage of your staff.

I find the Seer Staff (random t3 loot) to be the best itemized for dps out of all the staves. It can potentially give you a a nice chunk of crit chance and crit damage. The staff from sacrificing the Chargers is probably the next best IMO.

I find it hard to believe any random is comparable to top-tier crafted, considering mastercrafts, etc.

I'd love to hear what people have to say about mastercrafts for KE.  +10% stats for harder hitting spirit blade/fade cloak?  Or hidden blades 5 times?  Maybe +7.5% for every enemy within 4 m?

Love to hear people's opinions.

I'm also waiting for people opinion about armors for KE.

We have superior coat/armor/mail and I would love to see what crafting materials should KE player use for best armor. I've seen that seer staff is the best because of 3 offensive slots.

Guys rock that topic, we need help! :)

You're 100% correct on the seer staff.  I was thinking it was a random staff, but it's actually a schematic.  Very nice and easy to farm.

Best Equipment as per my discussion with Rynas seems to be a crit build.

Seer Staff  (Great Bear hide in leather offense + Dragon Webbing in cloth offense)

2x Rings of Crit Damage

Superior Prowler Armor (Crafted with Dexterity in Leather Utility NOT Cunning)

Mask of the Grand Duchess/Arishok Vitaar

Superb Amulet of Dexterity

The tiering is like

1. Seer Staff

2. First Enchanter Staff

3. Archmage Staff

Then crap.

After 50% crit chance, dexterity becomes more efficient than any other base attribute to stack, which is why you'll always use superior prowler amor on pretty much every class.

As for masterworks it depends on what party you're using. Horn of Valor is always useful if you don't already have a unit dedicated to using the ability. Hidden Blades is popular. Walking bomb and explode on kill is always nice. 5 Seconds of Walking fortress is probably the premier defensive masterwork.

Heh, my mage is gonna look like a carbon-copy of my 2H Templar, albeit with a different weapon (but similar stat emphasis).

My apologies I should have been clearer that it was a random t3 loot schematic!

If survivability is ever an issue I find having armor on hit (on my chest) and heal on hit (on my weapon) a great choice. Basically hitting energy barrage means you heal 12% of your max hp and gain a ton of armor to absorb incoming damage. You probably won't need that much survivability but its an option if soloing nightmare has any spots you find a bit hairy. Chain crits mean lots of back to back barrages for tons of constant healing and armoring. Sure you lose some dps from the procs but... being essentially immortal has its charms too!

Wouldn't crit chance be better return of investment between 50%-100%? I'm bad at math. That said, Dragon Scales in leather utility slot provide the highest stat total and thus should be best value.

Superior Prowler Armor with:

Craggy Skin/Lurker Scales - 41 Cunning

Great Bear Skin/Snoufler Skin - 41 Dexterity

Dragon Scales - 23 Cunning/23 Dexterity

You'd be missing out on 5 stats.

I could be wrong but the return on investment for cunning is sub-par (0.5% crit per cunning) whereas dexterity is +1% crit damage.  Once your crit is above 50%, I believe crit damage becomes optimal.  Boost crit through crit chance items rather than cunning.

Let's say you have 60 crit chance base and 40 crit damage.

With the max dexterity benefit you get 81% crit damage (40+41). Because we only have access to that crit damage 60% of the time, it's an effective damage increase of  48.6.

Same situation above but we inputted dragon scales into the slot for 11.5 crit chance and 23 crit damage.

With the dexterity benefit we get 63% crit damage. Because we only get access to that 72% of the time our effective damage increase is 45.36.

Investing in flat dexterity is better than the split option.(48.6 > 45.36)

You will only get .5 crit chance in return for every 1% crit damage you give up. For investing in cunning to be more valuable than dexterity in superior prowler you would need over 200% crit damage.

Let's say I have the actual numbers of a level 25 Qunari mage. Seer staff, Essence of Perfection masterwork.

Great Bear Skin (Dexterity), Superb Amulet of Cunning: 69% * 157 = 108,33

Great Bear Skin (Dexterity), Superb Amulet of Dexterity: 64% * 167 = 106,88

Lurker Scales (Cunning), Superb Amulet of Cunning: 90% * 116 = 104,4
Lurker Scales (Cunning), Superb Amulet of Dexterity: 85% * 126 = 107,1

Dragon Scales (Both), Superb Amulet of Cunning: 81% * 139 = 112,59
Dragon Scales (Both), Superb Amulet of Dexterity: 76% * 149 = 113.24

DPS winner, Dragon Scales, Superb Amulet of Dexterity. Could be more skewed towards Dexterity for non-Qunari due to 15% crit chance from helmet slot, I'm too lazy to do the math. Qunari get only 4% from Arishok's vitaar in comparison.
