Can we cut back the shine a little bit?

I know BioWare has been going with the glossy look, but can we cut back on it a bit, please?

Mustaches are not reflector plates. Hair should not look like this.

Wood doesn't gloss like a shield. I shouldn't be walking around Crestwood with everything reflecting the light because it's "wet."

A little shine is all well and good, but when you go overboard like this, I feel like I'm walking around in plastic-land. And it's painful.

Can we restrict the shine to metal-only, please? If not, just get rid of the shine entirely. It worse having it everywhere like this than not having it at all.

EDIT: Apparently, I just found this was the result of a patch? Why, Bioware? Why? *headesk*

... please tell me I can change resolution settings on my console...

I assume from your last sentence, that you are playing on console. (Which one btw?)

I'm playing on PC and i have never experienced that much "gloss" in DAI. Not really a big help for you.. just saying.

That happens with mesh set too low, or in a patched game that has it, shaders set too low. You get the mirrored plastic hair, upping mesh quality or shader (if you have that one) settings fixes it.

I'm playing on PS3. If there's settings to fix it, I'd love to know what they are. I looked through them yesterday and couldn't find anything that looked like it would take the gloss off. If anyone could help, that would be great because it's driving me crazy.

I'm pretty sure the consoles don't have the same settings options as PC.

I'm afraid you have to live with this.

Consoles do not have graphic settings - at least not like PC.

Games for Consoles are often made to get the best results with the available hardware. That's the best you can get with the PS3 it seems.

You may now ask yourself, why they changed the hair - made them glossy.

Well, it could either be a bug or they reduced the mesh quality to improve performance. (I could not find anything about this in the patch notes you posted - at least not for PS3)

If you consider that the PS3 is like over 8 years old, you are lucky enough to be able to play DAI on your console.

I suggest you to either get a PS4 or a gaming computer.

Have fun ^_^

I'm guessing the settings are locked to low or medium on old gen consoles, so you probably outta luck...  or you could ask around if other ps3 players have the same issue..

Otherwise I'd agree with DarkAmaranth, one time i lowered the mesh to medium to improve fps for recording video, and was horrified at how it made my hair look so glossy.

Can't find anything on whether or not this is specifically a PS3 issue...

Disappointing it can't be fixed.

The hair in my game is not that bad, but what bothers me is the constant shine on people's skin. Sometimes it looks like everyone in Thedas is either sweating or decided to took a bath in an oil bin.

OP, your blonde looks like she's wearing challah for a hat. I'm sorry. I know you're suffering, and I wish I could help.

On your video menu, do you see an option for shaders? You should still have one, even on a PS3. Maybe you can up that to high while keeping the mesh setting on low to reduce the shine?

There's a gamma option. Gives you a picture - half dark/half light. If I lower it, I can get less shine but the game is way too dark to see. Raising it so I can see, means more shine.

I appreciate the help, but now that I've found the "Old Gen" thread, this looks like a common problem and a lost cause till BioWare can (if they) fix it.

I imagine I'll upgrade to a PS4 eventually. Just might be a couple years.
