Chapter 12:

"Where the hell have you been, Sim?"


"How could you let OneWomanArmy die, you monster?!"


"It wasn't my fault! And I've been drinking. Meditating too."


"Drunk meditation. Sounds legit."


"No really, get this! In my meditative state, Eternal Phoenix reached out to me from beyond the grave! He warned of a great evil that would soon plague this forum. And that we must work swiftly to get rid of those who would revive those who have already died."

Dominus sweats bullets, though he was sure Sim's vision had nothing to do with him. He suggests taking this back to town, where they could discuss with the others.

The other Lobbyists agree, with Despair Demon insisting that Sim take a shower before telling them more. They meet up some time later at the Tavern.


"That sounds rather hard to believe, Sim..."


"Only a fool would follow you into battle with your track record. I'm not risking my life. I have yet to complete my 30 day NoClop challenge. N-not that I ever clopped before you filthy impliers... B-but I like the challenge..."


"And you say we'll all be doomed if we don't stop the revival of this 'Zombie T'?"


"Yes. But I know how to stop it for now. We need to hunt down and kill the Apprentice Necromancer. Even as we speak he is learning his craft, if he masters the art of Dark Resurrection, it will be all over. Or ogre, as EP told me."


"Recon has a point, your track record for hunting bosses is not that great."


"Please, think of it as Atonement. I have meditated long and hard, and though I deal with many burdens, I am confident we can win this!"


"This smells like bullcrap you just made up on the spot to justify taking the lead again. 'Zombie T'? I mean come on, who even is this T? Why can't you tell us T's full name?"

Several of the other Lobbyists fail to buy Sim's unlikely story and soon they all disperse. E-Ro makes his way to the Graveyard and presses F to pay respects for his fallen Vestal, while mybudgee, Recon, Dobby, ruggly and Su Lu Pi all share a few pints of beer. One thing is for certain, the BSN might be cursed, but the Tavern is doing well.

Walker, Jimmy and Dominus stay with Sim though, and pledge to follow the Leper in this expedition. For Walker and Jimmy, the promise of gold and glory was too strong to ignore. Dominus however, had ulterior motives for wanting in on this trek.



They step into the Ruins and are immediately greeted by foes.



The Cultists go after Sim first, one scores a critical hit, raising the team's stress levels.



It was stressful enough letting Sim lead the expedition, but if he went down, it'd be hard to tell how it'd affect everyone else's mental state.

Walker takes a deep breath and focuses her energy.



Before charging at her opponent, and taking it out in one blow.



Mad over the previous hit, Sim shoves Walker out of the way and takes out the last enemy by himself. He drives his sword down forcefully, cutting the enemy in two.



The Lobbyists walk across a long and dark hallway, before entering their first room in the area. Unsurprisingly, they're met with a hostile group of Undead inside.



The Bone Courtier throws his putrid chalice at Walker and Dominus, soaking the two in vile acid and vomit. Their stress levels increase.





Sim puts an end to it, cleaving a path through the Skeletons and out of the room.



Spotting a confessional booth in the corridor, Walker is eager to pray to her Patron Saint of Stix. Begging for forgiveness for slights real and imagined.



Unfortunately, the weight of her sins is too much to bear, and she leaves the booth worse for wear.



The Lobbyists encounter Spiders, but dispatch of them easily enough.



The arachnids present no trouble at all for Fast Jimmy.



However, it was the multitude of traps that began wearing down on the team's patience. First Sim.



Then Dominus.



Both are pushed to near breaking point. And as they enter another room filled with hostiles, the Lobbyists are on edge.



The Bone Arbalest fires a Quarrel at the Occultist, hitting it's mark.



And Dom's patience reaches it's tipping point. His resolve is tested.



Though he quickly heals himself, Dom's mental state is frazzled.




"A-rap a tap tap! What have we here? A collection of Bones that want to die again? So be it! Face me in single combat!"

Realising that they need to finish the battle quickly, Fast Jimmy and Sim spring into action, deftly cutting down all opposition.






"Oh, I'm tired of this shiit. I can't take it anymore! We need to make camp and take a break."


"I'm with JW, this expedition has been exhausting."


"I refuse to rest! I can go all day like this! Let those who defy my magicks tremble in terror!"

Faced with a tough decision, Sim decides to push forward.


"We're close. Next room we can rest, I promise."

Sim's words were eerily familiar, yet none in the group were aware of that.


"Break. Next room, next room, next room. Please no monsters, please no monsters."

The Hellion was hopeful for an empty room, but as they open the door and step inside, there's more enemies to fight.



Walker's hopes for respite are crushed.



She lashes out, downing an enemy.



But she withdraws soon after, leaving Sim to do the grunt work. The Undead realise this, and focus their attacks on him.



Sim tries his best to suppress the dark thoughts and memories festering in the back of his mind, but each attack whittles away at his mental fortitude.



And it isn't long until his resolve is tested too.

Screw glory, I just want gold. And I plan to spend it on sluts, paraphernalia, and a feast of the gods which will include steak, bacon and dark ale.
