Chapter 13:

"Aww crap! Hold it together, Sim!"



With Jimmy the only Lobbyist to still have his mental state under control, it was a miracle they survived the fight. But the Bounty Hunter kept a cool head and continued fighting, taking down their Undead enemies one by one.



In the aftermath of the battle, Sim, picking at his wounds, suggests resting for a while.




"Look, I know some of you are uncomfortable right now. But if we keep it together, we might just survive this. There's only one room left to explore. And we all know what that means, right? The Necromancer."


"Fuuck man, we're doomed. That Necromancer is going to destroy us all!"

Walker then goes to repeat 'destroy us all' over and over again. First at speaking volume, then in increasingly hushed tones. She stops for a moment to take a bite out of her chicken, then continues whispering it, like a prayer. "Destroy us all... destroy us all... destroy us all...", it certainly gave Jimmy the creeps.

Sim fed off Walker's negative energy and asked the group how they thought they were going to die.


"I remember EP's face as he was overwhelmed by those Maggots, they were eating his flesh. And OWA's screams as she was cooked alive. Cranley didn't scream, but you could hear his flesh being boiled. Maybe the Necromancer will do the same to us... Hehehe, it is my fault after all. If only I had my Dakimuakura here, I could have my "last night" before the Necromancer peels my flesh away and resurrects me anew hehehe..."

Dom on the other hand, was absurdly confident. The Occultist was excited to take on the Necromancer, too excited.


"I'm going to kill him. I'm going to rip his face off. I'm going to take his magic tomes and absorb his power! Hyahahaha!! I could do it naked if I wanted, now wouldn't that be a sight!"

Doing the best he can with the motley group, while keeping his own stress levels under control, Jimmy ensures that the party get what rest and healing they can before embarking for the Necromancer. If the Gods were kind, they'd be granted a clear and simple path. The Gods were not kind.



Just a small group of weak Skeletons, but the Skeletons get the jump on the Lobbyists, focusing their attacks on poor Jimmy, the only sane member left.





With the aid of Sim and Walker, Jimmy takes out the Bone Soldiers easily enough. But the pressure is starting to get to him. And it shows.



As the team walks along the final corridor before the chamber with the Necromancer, Walker laments their situation one last time.



Sim opens the door and the team steps into the room. The Necromancer is waiting for them.



The Necromancer attacks first. He pulls out a scroll and breathes life into the bones on the ground, crawling and scratching at Jimmy and Dominus.



The unexpected attack pushes Jimmy to the edge of his mental limits.



And breaks him.



Still eager to fight, Dominus casts his trademark Hex Spell on the Necromancer, catching the enemy spellcaster off-guard.



Sensing the Necromancer's weakness, Jimmy takes advantage and strikes him hard.



Not one to be pushed back, the Necromancer fires an intense wave of negative energy, further demoralising the already unstable group.




"His attack whispers of death, a sound I know all too well."

Jimmy strikes again at the Necromancer, and the fiend is visibly taken aback. The Bounty Hunter's attacks are working.



Sim and Walker catch on, and seeing a faint light at the end of the tunnel, decide to charge in unison for a decisive attack. Unfortunately for them, the Necromancer recovers and turns the tables on the Lobbyists, catching the frontline Warriors completely off-guard.



Sim falls to his knees. The Leper is at Death's Door.



Sim says a silent prayer as he kneels, flashes run through his mind. The deaths of his comrades, the pain of being blamed, the burden of leadership. Even Eternal Phoenix's warning about "Zombie T". And although Sim keenly felt a great debt to his fallen friends, as well as a duty to his living ones, he was tired. So very tired.

Until one last image came to him, like a light piercing the darkness. An image he couldn't cast aside.




"THAT'S IT! I CAN'T GIVE UP NOW. I STILL HAVE TO FIGHT ON. FIGHT FOR MY WAIFU!!"




"RARGH!!"

Sim rises to his feet, his perseverance emboldening his allies. Dominus taunts the Necromancer, daring him to attack again.



Putting aside her despair, Walker charges at the Necromancer's minions, taking them out on by one.




"The last time I gave a shiit, I got fuucked! So I don't give a shiit, Shiit, SHIIT!! RARGHHH!!"



With the tide turning for the Lobbyists, the Necromancer unleashes a desperate attack against Sim and Walker, hoping to break their morale once again.



But it didn't work, a weary Sim grips his sword and swings down with all the might he could muster.



With the Bone Minions ground into dust, the path to the Necromancer becomes clear. Walker and Sim step to the side and Dominus grips Jimmy's shoulders hard. Jimmy's head twitches for a moment, before his eyes glow a dark red. Dominus releases Jimmy from his grasp and the Bounty Hunter charges at the Necromancer. The spellcaster is helpless as Fast Jimmy cuts him down, once and for all.



At last. It is over. Despite being injured, exhausted and mentally broken down beyond imagination, the Lobbyists achieve victory. The Necromancer Apprentice has been slain. And maybe, just maybe, a certain Leper has found some measure of redemption.

I find it incredible no one died. When Sim went insane and started refusing heals from Dominus, I was already wondering how many casualties I'd have to deal with and whether I'd have to run. But somehow they all made it out alive. Sans sanity, but that's a small price to pay. Looks like Chapter 13 on Friday the 13th (in America at least) is a lucky one. Thank you Based Sim.

It's a girl called 'Holo' or 'Horo' from the Manga & Anime Spice and Wolf. Recon is just allergic to furries. In his mind, those ears = furry and all that.

Well I wouldn't say she's a furry, though furries would probably love her. I've always associated furries with the fanbase rather than the characters. Kind of like cloppers. I'd ask Recon though, he's intimately familiar with the concept. Also, Cassandra Saturn claims to be a furry. So there's that.
