Ok, so an open world has been accomplished. Yea! No more looking at flat paths I can't enter like the threaded needle of DAO. Drove me crazy.

Now it's time to create more immersion for that open world.

1) Deeper relationships, to include a dozen more romantic options for the Inquisitor. I'm a straight male and I currently have two options, Cassandra and Josephine. How disappointed I was to be rejected by Sera after getting romantic options in the dialogue. Same thing with Vivienne. Bring Leliana back as an option. I don't care if she was a romantic option in a previous version. I'm sure she still has desires.

2) Don't create new areas for all the new storylines. Add storylines with new companions in the existing areas. It's all about immersion, not more areas to run around in to level up.

3) As in 2), don't waste resources. Multiplayer is a waste of time. I can go play GW2 or Warcraft for pvp.

I've been reading about gripes with combat, thin storylines, etc.. Fact is, the game is a solid foundation. Beautiful game. In the top 5 for me of all time.

Be wise, focus on immersion. Make it epic.

I don't know, new areas that tie in with what we have and, flesh out some of the subplots more would be good. Maybe revisiting an old place or two like Ostagar, the Ferelden Circle, Kirkwall, Vinmark Prison, seeing how those places have changed over the years and, what has become of some of the people there while adding to the DAI stories.

I suspect MP is an EA mandate that the game have some sort of online only feature - seems the way with recent OFFLINE EA games.

What an expansion needs is follow up on the characters story arc in a way that fits the new story. Like Legacy in DAII including exclusive content for Varric, Anders etc. Also Return to Ostagar had this in DA:O. Also the epilogue slideshow should be expanded upon when it comes to dlc and an expansion, and should be flust with content at the end, and show the fate of everyone that was involved with the Inquisition.

Use the areas they already have established, if they make new ones let them be like Adamant fortress and Halamshiral. Maybe use the buildings we can see in different zones throughout the game. Make the keeps we captured matter, a dlc or expansion could start with an invasion. There are so many possibilities, and here is where i want to give Inquisition credit. The world they created for this game may not be fleshed out enough yet, but with dlc's and expansion it could be the most immersive world Bioware has created. Hope they take advantage of this as they move forward.

I agree with Akrabra, I feel the world and characters they already have are amazing, they just need to expand on what they already have. No need to reinvent the wheel. I would love to see an expansion that focuses on getting to know the already existing characters better, more storyline involving the gorgeous worlds, more cutscenes, ect.

They are not going to write a dozen more romances for the game... That would more than double the amount of writing there currently is for companions in the entire game.

Two options for everyone seems like enough to me anyway. Its not a dating sim, so I'd rather have more writing for the main plot or friendships. Better to flesh out the companions that are already in the game, rather than add new ones.

Gay women get two options, gay men get two options and women get 3 (but only two if you arent an elf)

I'd say that was fair.

If there was to be an expansion, its should fill the largely unpopulated areas we already have, and put some meat, along with the potatoes we already have, for story.. We have more Area, than is being utilized... The areas are vastly devoid of anything...Actual npc's would be nice.. As opposed to static people, standing in place for the entirety of this war, and never saying a word, or having a name...The 15-20hour main story, could use a doubling in size, when held in comparison to the plethora of benign questing we have..

Beofre any of that though, id like a fully functioning AI, PC controls, Tactics, and tactical camera

As for relationships.. I prefer that certain characters have preferences.. Makes them feel more reaistic.. Example; I was a Qunari Mage, male.. I romanced Cassandra, a Seeker.. I know thats not a Templar, but i highly doubt, someone who believed strongly enough against mages, would bed one.. Solas.. I would htink, he would ONLY romance a female Elf, as hes from the times of Arlathan, and clearly has intentions of aiding the elven culture, and the gods..Varric, sounds as though he already is in Love (Bianca) and shouldnt be romanced by anyone.. Dorian is Gay, and Tevinter, so i dont really see him taking on a female (obviously), or a Qunari (having been at war with the Qunari for millenia)

Ofcourse we need options, but some characters need their own stories, preferences, lore, etc.. It makes it more immersive, and believable.. I hated the way the social aspect of Inquisition felt very forced, and phony.. As if a checklist had been gone thorugh, to be sure to please all cultures, races, sexes, preferences, etc.. I thought Dorian was well done, for example, and im a straight guy.. Leliana was great..Sera was pretty cool, though honestly, i could have seen her go either way.. But, she had preference.. I liked it for that.. She was one of the checklist aforementioned.. I wont go into specfics, because this was just my personal view on it, and i dont want to spark a PC debate here  :D

Abyss108, I think it's safe to say that the majority of players for a war game would be male. Whether the majority of those males are gay or straight I can't say. But it seems to me that having 3 options for romance with females, and 5 with males, just seems a bit odd. Who made that decision. I mean, Iron Bull?

I realize it's not a dating sim. But a male Inquisitor, at least if it was me, would be quenching that thirst all over the castle. It's the immersion factor, not how detailed it gets.

You don't make an open world more immersive by simply adding content. It has be done from the ground up.. in the random events and emergent factors. This game isn't really designed to behave like that. It follows an MMO like philosophy. Not the open world philosophy of an Betheda or Rockstar game. It's more theme park like, rather than random buffonery and chaos. In that sense, I don't even call it an open world. Just a large one.

No. To everything here. An especially big no to the last one. Past LIs should not be added again.

I do agree the current areas could have done with some more fleshing out, but I think making DLC that takes place entirely in existing areas would feel a bit...cheap, frankly.

So romantic options are there, but you have to get thru 3 quests to be with Josephine, (at least I think you do I haven't done it yet). To me, that is a dating sim.

It's a cartoon. It doesn't need to be graphic, that would be silly. But immersive pursuit would be nice while I'm waiting for some short council missions to complete. That to me seems natural. With women, not men. Sorry if that offends.

And Streetmagic, you have a point. But ya gotta start somewhere. Now they need to fill it up with stuff.

I think Rizilliant is spot on.

They'll probably add a little more to existing romances sprinkled throughout any future DLC, but new ones? Not happening. Especially not with Leliana, that would be an awful idea.

Straight male characters have always had two options. Lesbian characters and gay male characters have two options too.

Well, I'm not against the basic suggestion. Adding more quests. Nothing wrong with that. They do it well, when it comes to larger quests.

I just don't think it makes a world more open. Or rather, I associate open worlds with sandboxes and emergent events. And that kind of thing would require a redesign of how they construct the environments, AI behavior, etc..

If they want an open world, they should steal Bethsoft and Rockstar employees.. heh. and not hire some crew who worked on MMOs. Those people can't even make an interesting cell phone game. I honestly believe that... I don't even think they understand games or what makes them enjoyable. They just write fed ex type quests and pointless clicking and busywork.

Strange how more gamers are male, when its been advertised to only men for the last twenty years and men always get the extra content...

Besides, if we're going by stereotypes about what people like, more women like romance so women should get more. Men can have more of that war content they apparently like.

Both arguments are stupid, and do nothing but alienate the other side. One person shouldn't deserve more content because of what sex they are. And if you want more options, you can play a different character. Or just play games from a different company. There are endless number of companies that make content for only straight males, but Bioware isn't one of them. Bioware have decided they want a much larger market, that includes people outside that demographic. Try something like The Witcher.

Give everyone the same number of options, which is what they originally did with this game. But the game was delayed for a year, and the writers spent some free time writing extra romances. These were male characters because they had more male characters in the original cast, and they didn't have time to add new characters.

If you want the ability to sleep around for "immersion", then you may as well ask for the need to eat and drink for the same reason. The romances Bioware write are all included for narrative reasons, not for immersion. I think this is a different type of content you want. More like hardcore mode in games like New Vegas. Which is fine to have, but its not really what the current romances are for.

And what's wrong with Iron Bull?

"If you want the ability to sleep around for 'immersion', then you may as well ask for the need to eat and drink for the same reason."

This is a good point and hard to argue except that, the game wasn't designed to force eating and drinking for survival, but the romantic options are there. But I think what I'm getting here is that the romance pushes the story. I don't know as I agree, unless choosing between Cassandra and Josephine makes a difference in the ending.

I'm obviously not up on the lore enough. Only reason I can see that people are strongly against a romantic option for Leliana. Best relationship text in DAO but ok.

There are options to 'flirt' with certain characters, Scout Harding (Angry Joe's fantasy, too funny), also Leliana and Morrigan. Those options are there for the player to demonstrate flirtation but for what reason? Does it extend or change the story in any way? I haven't completed the game, but I look at those romantic options as a waste of time if they don't have an impact.

I don't think it's asking to much to include the same number of female npcs / companions as they do male if romantic options are going to be available.

Not important, outside of principle. I'm done talking about it.

------------------------------

After reading some of the concerns with an 'empty' world, I'll say I've been keeping that in mind as I explore an area. Lot's of stuff to accomplish and explore, if only once. I'm not sure how to make any game's areas relevant once they've been explored once, other than strategical holdings, or triggers that cause events later in the game.

I just want the developers to focus on an epic expansion, READ what people are saying and take it to heart, and don't waste resources and think everything through. Have a meeting. I know as a developer I always feel meetings take too much of my time, but that's why I'm not a manager.

So much this! My eyes roll right out of my head when I see guys make this argument. Big round of applause to BW for not making a game where guys can 'quench their thirst' (barf) around the castle. I absolutely do not want a game made for pimply teenage boys to indulge their sticky fantasies. There's a great big internet for that, and, witcher.
