THis works for me too, but it is annoying. Also, for me, I have the same object recognition problem sometimes in combat. It doesnt recognize enemies (so I cant aim powers at them). Pressing esc and going back does not fix this.
Yes, I used to have that problem severely, and I could hardly ever use charge. Try going to different resolutions and windowed mode, updating your drivers, and especially trying the tweaks in this thread. The first two things improve the spacebar issue, but I got a huge spacebar and combat improvement after tweaking mouse settings as laid out in this thread, lowering resolution all the way to 640x480 and turning off vsync.
The downside is you're playing at 640x480. But FPS and combat dramatically improve.

Editing coalesced.ini with notepad++ still crashes the game for me. Can anyone help me get it working?
There is a better way than directly editing coalesced.ini. Use gamersettings.ini from the Bioware folder in Documents
See this thread for details

Has anyone experienced your character and squad walking in the rafters????......This has happened to me a few times in the Slums on Omega and there is nothing I can do when this happens except restart the game from a save....
I have had no other problems except my game is beginning to freeze and crash while in combat.....It happens intermitantly and is quite annoying especially when your nearing the end of a boss fight and it crashes...
I have hadmy Shepard getting stuck on some furnitures in firefight and have had toreload from previous save.
All in all this game is good, but as a PC player you don't get the feeling that the BioWare guys are aware that people actually play the game on PC as well--- No weapon quick keys, the dialouge option being crap, no mouse nor advanced graphics tweak in the game. Too sad.

I had to edit the "SFXGame.SFXGameModeOrbital" section in the Coalesced.ini file to speed up the mouse some.
Using Notepad++ search for and change:
ScanReticleMoveSpeed=0.12
PlanetRotationSpeed=0.02
in my case I tuned it to:
ReticleMoveSpeed=0.40
ScanReticleMoveSpeed=0.15
You can also change the planet rotation speed in there too. I tried putting these changes in GamerSettings.ini, but they didn't work there unfortunately.

Does the reticle move too slowly for anybody else when orbiting planets to do scans?

Ooh, that sounds handy, thanks. Scanning becomes slower the bigger the planet.
Do you suppose there's something similar in coalesced.ini for the bypass minigame? I've managed to do it up til now, but my mouse is awfully slow there too (and there you actually have to be quick, etc.).

Yeah, try setting bUseMouseDampening=False. When it's set to true the game will slow down the cursor when it's moved really fast... lol.

I have uncompareably annoyable problem with the mouse. In the menu it's works fine. but in actual game it does nothing at all. the buttons are working but it's not rotate the camera nowhere and i can't choose an option in dialogues only the first one.
I have exactly the same problem as this guy, and since I didn't find any answer (and believe me I spent hours searching the net), do you think you could look into this? Any suggestion would be welcomed greatly.

The game works fine except that the camera won't move at all. My mouse works in every other ways (shooting, aiming, doing stuff in the menu), but it won't move the camera. Won't let me chose dialogues option either.
Of course I just started the game and obviously I cannot pass the very first mission.
Since you just solved some mouse issues (and I may actually use your tips once I get it to work), could you guess what my problem could be?
I have a DualCore 6850 with 2Go Ram, Geforce 8800 GTS, Windows 7 32bit premium, and I use a Logitech MX Revolution as my mouse.
I use dual screen for my computer (may be related.. who knows)
I have the last Nvidia driver, DirectX11 (I did also install DirectX9c just to be sure)
I run MassEffect2.exe as administrator.
I'm taking any guesses at this point.. shoot.

Mass Effect 2 Launcher > Configure > Video > Windowed=Windowed
Also be sure to save settings before closing the utility.
Mass Effect 2 (on the menu bar) > Save Settings

I still can move forward and backward, strafe, interact with the environment, fire, aim, but I can't move the camera, it's like it's stuck on the initial position.
Of course that means that I also can't turn as long as I have my weapon out (I can turn around if I holster it but the camera won't follow)

Changing the sensitivity did not work? By default it's MouseSensitivity=1.0, try 6.0
Can you try running your desktop using a single monitor when playing the game?
If nothing works then at this point it's too much trouble to hack the .ini and I'd use a usb mouse till a patch is released.

I'm not even sure it's mouse related, since the mouse works well for everything beside moving the camera.. but well I will probably try to get a cheap usb mouse tomorrow to test it..
I already tested with my other wireless mouse (which is also a Logitech) and it didn't change anything.

Now... Is there a way to speed up the scanner cursor speed? I understand the thought behind it, but it's just too slow. It makes me not want to scan.
You will get a research upgrade for your ship that increases scanning. It will dramatically increase the mouse speed during the scanning process. Not sure if there are more than one, but I found it much nicer once I researched that upgrade.

First career will save games fine. But it saves them in the root of K:\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2\\Save.
Selecting Load Game from the menu turns up a blank list - but selecting Save Game will show me all my save games.
Starting a second career - the game will not save a game. Or, if it does, I can't find them. Have checked in C:\\Users\\<username>, etc.
Any ideas, or fixes?

Decreasing Load Times Fix for Dual Core Processors?
To fix it, just minimize the game while its running, go to Task Manager. Right click masseffect2.exe and say "set affinity". Uncheck the second CPU core, then click OK. Now go back to "Set Affinity" again and re-enable the core you just disabled. Click OK. When you maximize the game again, your load times should be drastically reduced
