Thanks for have chosen the Hyborian Age. BTW Today is my birthday so double thanks for this present.
Welcome to the Hyborian age where every man is strong and every woman is beautiful.
The Hyborian Age is a fictional period within the artificial mythology created by Robert E. Howard, in which the sword and sorcery tales of Conan the barbarian and Kull of Atlantis, are set.
I have prepared a parallel forum with referential info:

Id take up the mantle and add the Arnold Schwarzenegger Conan The barbarian Music, but im actually against putting that up. i have alot of respect for the artist, but if there is a request i "may" upload some ambient music that might interest someone.

Great theme this month!
TR: Red Sonja is not in the original writings of Robert E. Howard about Conan; she is a character of one pseudo-historic tale of the autor, called "The Shadow of the Vulture". Anyway, she is an iconic hyborian character thanks to the comics, so I suppose that she is definitively included in the challenge. I personally prefered Valeria or Bêlit, by the way. ![]()
The hyborian age is a very interesting universe to work with. This is not epic fantasy, but sword&sorcery, and this guarantee that a certain flavour must be captured; the original writings of Howard about Conan were mostly tales of horror with a great components of violence and adventure. He was influenced by his friend Lovecraft and other colleagues of Weird Tales in the concept of cosmic horror, but he is maybe the first in the act of merging this concept with some elements of the emerging heroic fantasy to create a literary genre.
In my oppinion, any approach to the hyborian age must include things related to dark magic, ancient ruins that hide cosmic terrors, pre-human evil races, temples dedicated to alien gods, grim-faced barbarians and mercenaries, exotic and old cities fulled of mysteries (and a bunch of harems, of course) and things like that. But, above everything, to resume the spirit of sword&sorcery. A genre as different to the epic fantasy as could be the movie westerns of Sergio Leone against the ones of John Ford...

I think that, he great soundtrack of "Conan the barbarian" 1982 by Basil Poledouris, have been already converted to NWN. So you don't need to disturbing yourself with such conflict of interest....

TR
TR, I agree with Ssythilac about Red Sonja. She is a Howard character, but not an Hyborian one in novels, however she is truly hyborian in comics and movies; Which are also part of the challenge. So, Red Sonja content is completely suitable for the challenge.
I'm pretty sure Conan has snake cultists, as well
They can always be repurposed in NWN as more Yuan-Ti
Snake cultists yes, of course; But yuan-ti are exclusive creatures of D&D. However there is others, "similar" serpentine creatures and races in the Hyborian Age. Please just check the hyborian bestiary in the referential forum.

I posted the conan movie soundtrack on the IGN vault and was asked to take it down, due to copyright concerns.

OK, I've just sent in -

The above is a much reduced image (taken in the toolset during construction of the test/demo mod) of the complete Map Mats Hyborea. I've included all source files, a hak, 2 erfs, a demo module, a small text file with the 2da lines and a minimal readme file.
Hope you like (well can't have AD & Shemsu-Heru as the only cc makers taking part again, can we?
)

They call it the Fangs of the Serpent.
And this one was thrust into a father's heart by his very son.
And my own daughter has fallen under this Thulsa Doom's spell.
Is there a dagger such as this in her hand for me? (King Osric - Conan the barbarian 1982)

RE Howard's saga is what inspired me from the first to be interested in D&D.
Who could forget the crucifiction scene with the buzzard?
These last few months, RL has kept me too busy to contribute <damn>
Here are some other ideas for folks:
"Thak" <the ape like monster
Aquilonian chariots.
Banners and flags of the realm
Courtesans of the nobility
Senile kings
Evil wizards (Thoth Amon) and any "altars of ancient doom"
The harem girls ![]()

Conan himself (Fyi: I have an old, very high poly 3ds mesh from the net)
Inspirational artwork from Frank Frazetta.....
Thanks for your efforts guys

More ideas:
Portraits based on the Frank Frazetta art, or any other artist who have works related with the Hyborian age.

2D items; For example amulets with the symbols of dark cults, like Thulsa Doom's two head snake symbol. Or holy symbols of the Hyborian gods, Crom, Mitra. Asura, Set, etc...

@Killmonger Map originally from TSR 9183 - RS1 - Red Sonja. Stitched the 8 pieces together, resized to make it usable, processed the image to give it a faux bump-map paper/cloth texture and then sliced it into 15 1024 x 1024 "tiles". By doing the latter I reduced the texture size from a 60 meg tga to roughly 10 megs of dds images. After that it was a breeze to create the models, edit placeables.2da and create the hak, erfs and test/demo module.
BTW It was Michael Moorcock's eternal champion saga that got me interested in fantasy.

@TR Wow......Well done, sirrah.
I barely recall that collage from RS1...
it was one of those oversize colour mags (?)
<Thanks for that trivia piece>
Great job at the creation of it.
Nice.
<Just adored the eternal champion saga within the Young Kingdoms too
