I really hope this game bombs hard. If it doesn't, it's very likely the developers won't learn anything and continue to release five hour tech demos.

I'm pretty sure it did poorly. I don't even recall much hype about it pre release either so preorders must have been poor.

It was at the top of the UK software charts in its first week.

Still in 4th now.

Watched it twice. I could feel the rage.

I was so hyped for that game. I'm really glad I caught the early release hype of just how bad it was.

It's actually selling quite well in both Australia and the UK. :?

"The retail version of The Order: 1886 debuted in No. 1 in the UK retail software sales chart, making it the first game developed by Sony's in-house development team to take the first spot in the chart since August 2014"

Source: http://en.wikipedia...._1886#Reception

"The Order: 1886 is short and the story makes no sense, but it’s selling at a rather impressive rate. That is the weird dynamic that is haunting the newest Playstation 4 exclusive title. Despite the fact that The Order: 1886 has been almost universally panned as a bad game, consumers are buying enough copies that it made the top of the U.K. Sales charts in its first week.

According to Attack of the Fanboy, The Order: 1886 has also hit the top of the Australian sales charts. The sales numbers for copies of the game in the United States won’t be known for quite a while but it’s a safe bet it’s selling well here too. Some of the top sales numbers can be explained because the game is one of the first big titles to hit the store shelves this year. Still, talk about how good The Order: 1886 has looked likely drove sales as well."

It looked kind of cool to me but I didn't bother to get it. I seriously doubt it's an abomination some people are making it out to be.

Heh, I don't blame you.

I looked only after thinking "Ha, lets go and laugh at how badly the order must be doing, seeing how everyone was hating on it and every-"

I like how they put two black bars on the screen so they could render less pixels and called it "cinematic."

This should have been a movie.

Movie critics are far less forgiving because they are actually critical unlike most of the mainstream "game journalists". If it were a movie it would have likely received a score of maybe 15% on RT.

It's been said before.

If you want to make a movie, make a goddamn movie David Cage!

The games original draw to me was the idea of hunting Werewolves and other monsters of that nature. Apparently that can't even be accomplished.

Thank god Bloodbourne is coming out soon to show how to do this kinda thing right.

I want my Van Helsing Simulator goddamit!

You know the sad thing about this game is that the theme, and setting and background are really cool.

Can you imagine this as an rpg similar to mass effect?

Didn't pay too much attention to the game, but I've got to say charging AAA typical money for a singleplayer only game with 5 hours worth of linear playtime with a significant chunk of said playtime being uninteractive cutscenes is just asking for it, really.

Haven't seen AJ's review yet, but the guy is usually covering the points that I find important and whilst I don't always agree with his assessments, at least his reviews have a modicum of method to it and tries to cover everything, not like some IGN dude who's played maybe half an hour of the game and then gave it a "whooping 9/10, must buy" rating.

___

Just watched AJ's review. So the game is six'ish hours total, with a third cutscenes, a third pointlessly walking and looking around and the actual third of gameplay full of retard AI and QTEs, plus a supposedly horrible ending that's also a cliffhanger ...

That sounds so bad that I'm half the mind to say it can't be true. Anyone in here that played the game that could comment?

Wow, can't believe they let such a promising idea go to waste.

Aye. As an Xbox One owner, 1886 was one of the titles I was happy my Sony brethren would get to play, but a little sad I wouldn't get to play myself. I told myself I'd watch it on Twitch.

Now, I feel bad for those on the blue team. That sucks. I thought the premise was cool as hell, but to see it botched so much is unfortunate.

I can't even really say its botched, now that I think about it. Its a solid product;the problem is that its not the kind of game gamers want, and its not the kind of movie film buffs want. Its this "thing" that appeals to nobody but its developers.

Hopefully you guys get better stuff in the future. I still wish y'all could've played Sunset Overdrive;for a game that never takes itself seriously for a second, it was a blast.

We need more games that know they're games and just try to be good at being a game instead of trying to be a million other things.

This review is worse than his dying light review. I've played and beaten the order 1886 and found it very interesting and compelling.

Didn't you know, cinematic games are automatically sh*t because neeeeeeerd beta raaaaeg (feeling a teensy bit silly today, can you tell)

Have no interest in this game, would not be getting it if I had a PS4 because I don't like super short games on principle (and am not a fan of shooters either), but that's quite difference from the internet RAEG I'm seeing.
