Just watched AJ's review. So the game is six'ish hours total, with a third cutscenes, a third pointlessly walking and looking around and the actual third of gameplay full of retard AI and QTEs, plus a supposedly horrible ending that's also a cliffhanger ...

I know a few games that could have benefited from more "pointlessly walking and looking around," games where that was in fact the best part.

COUGHBioshockInfiniteCOUGH

So let's not pretend that's automatically bad.

Didn't say walking around and looking is bad. I said it's pointless according to what I hear about the game. Note I don't have firsthand experience, but if looking at photographs for no apparent reason is supposed to be a thing in this game, then it's , well ... pointless. Nice graphics have their own flair, but making players look at the environment for environments sake, then it's not a game, it's a tech demo, which coincidentionally is another word used to describe this game here and there, both in positive and negative meaning.

Couldn't one call it immeeeeerzion? It's hardly pointless, it's just not the defining aspect of a "game." Pointless means it has no point. No purpose. Its purpose is to show you the game world. To immeeeeerze you in the environment. It DOES have a point. It just isn't interaction.

Random photos that have no tie in to anything is pointless. For something to be immersive it would have to teach/inform you something about the setting.

I don't intend to go deeper with this particular argument since I haven't played the game. Regardless, I'll maintain my opinion that if it truly is as described, I think it's pointless and little more than the devs trying to artificially lengthen the little playtime.

Fair enough. I WILL say I don't know much about how it's implemented at all either so I can't say it's automatically good (I just can't agree that it's automatically bad).

Aye. As an Xbox One owner, 1886 was one of the titles I was happy my Sony brethren would get to play, but a little sad I wouldn't get to play myself. I told myself I'd watch it on Twitch.

Now, I feel bad for those on the blue team. That sucks. I thought the premise was cool as hell, but to see it botched so much is unfortunate.

I can't even really say its botched, now that I think about it. Its a solid product;the problem is that its not the kind of game gamers want, and its not the kind of movie film buffs want. Its this "thing" that appeals to nobody but its developers.

Hopefully you guys get better stuff in the future. I still wish y'all could've played Sunset Overdrive;for a game that never takes itself seriously for a second, it was a blast.

We need more games that know they're games and just try to be good at being a game instead of trying to be a million other things.

Well, Uncharted 4 is on the horizon...

It looked kind of cool to me but I didn't bother to get it. I seriously doubt it's an abomination some people are making it out to be.

I find the mindset behind its creation more offensive than its creation. Like I can handle "not so good" games but the developers went out of their way for this overly cinematic BS but they also can't get around making vidya gaems. It seems like it hurt the director to actually have to put some kind of gameplay, some kind of interactive freedom into this project. However minuscule that freedom is.

I'm watching Joe's MGS review.

40 bucks......for a demo.

I saw that in my mall's gamestop, back then...I think the price had dropped to like...30 bucks or something

I remember...when demos were free...............

Ground Zeroes approximately hour and half is probably a more fulfilling gameplay experience than The Order's five hours though. MGS games tend to be pretty fun in that way.

Watched his review. Based on what I saw... it's definitely not my type of game. Those QTE's are horrible especially the ones on the "boss fights". If this game ever goes down to about $20 or less, then I might give it a try.

I just feel bad when Joe has to play bad games LOL

I mean.... unless people donate, he's probably gotta pay out of pocket for every title.........

I saw his Sonic Free RIders review............*shudders*

It's a shame that this looks pretty bad and is way too little content for the price, since the idea and theme behind it all was kind of interesting.

I imagine it would have been better received over a year ago when the PS4 first launched, or at the very least largely dismissed as a "tech demo game" like Ryse was.

Isn't that what's happening?

It's actually selling quite well in both Australia and the UK. :?

It has been fooling the British and Australians with its Victorian cloth-styles!

Could just be me, but this one seems to have more disappointment around it as we're now over a year since the launch.

It's way out of time for it to be a tech demo game.

Tech demo games could be the new hotness. You never know. At least at Ready At Dawn. They just weren't ready at the dawn of the PS4.

Sad, because I think they had an interesting concept. Too bad they failed with the execution.
