I purchased Dragon Age Inquisition after a friend reccommended it and he described it as Mass Effect series meets Skyrim and I am a huge Skyrim/elder scrolls series fan but I have played the game and I keep finding myself bored and switching to another game. Please help me tap into the reason to play the game as I really want to love it. The visuals are great the cut scenes and interaction is amazing but I dont see much of that side of the game. I usually just find myself running around herding cows back to their owners and fighting the same creatures while I close rifts. I want to play this game more but I always grab the game next to it. What are your favorite qualities of the game and how should I change the way I play to experience them. Its a great game but I neglect it, please help.

It's not like Skyrim, other than being large and fantasy based. Might want to disregard that bit. To some people, that's enough of a comparison, but it seems like you know the difference. I've said before that this isn't an open world like the Elder Scrolls games, even if it's sort of billed as one. Underneath, it's still quest directed rather than exploration directed.

In that respect, if you find yourself bored, then stick to the bigger quests and storylines. It does that right. It's not gonna be rewarding on an exploratory level, like Fallout or TES is. It just doesn't contain the same level of randomness that gives those games their charm. And the smaller quests seem like they were designed by MMO people.... who without a doubt are the worst people in the gaming industry.. they constantly crank out uninspired crap.

Make sure you revisit your base often and talk to your companions every time, if you're not. Building an emotional attachment to them is a big part of what makes Bioware RPGs, imo. :)

Yeah, this too. Big quests/story and companions are the strengths. Not so much exploring the environment.

Honestly, if you want to really immerse yourself in the world of Dragon Age - start with Origins, it is (IMO) by far the best game of the series.

If you don't like the sidequests, you don't have to play them. Stick to the main quest and companion quests, and only do the extra stuff that looks interesting to you.

What your friend likes may not be what you like, people are different, if its really boring do not force yourself play something else, remember games are for fun, if you get no enjoyment out of it, you really should try something else.

Yes, this happens when you start a new series from the third installment instead of the first game.

Agreed, that's what I'm doing.
