A few days ago, I was in a PUG, and one player was talking about a tip supposedly leaked from the developers: players will have better chances to find purple items in the treasure rooms if they do not crash any treasure pots and pick up the money during a match. Most of us in that match followed the suggestion, and we got a mediocre unique dagger from a treasure room. Unfortunately my mic doesn't work with DAMP. I was unable to have conversation with that guy. I'm wondering if anyone has similar experience, or maybe you guys can make some test runs solo or with friends.
Is it true - no touching of the treasure pots gives a better chance to find unique items in the treasure rooms?

That is 100% correct.Same as if you have done specific weapons challenges, you have much better chance for ultimate unique in that category.
Nope.

Chances only go up when it's demon as enemies and you sacrifice one or two PuGs to the Demon Commander in wave 5.
And they are extremely high if you don't have Arcade Warrior in the team.

You missed out a vital part that will skyrocket your chance of getting purple. You just have to post your full name, home address, date of birth, bank account number and the pin number associated with that bank account. Also if you are living in the US, you are in luck, just post your social security number and you will get a guaranteed purple drop.

Secret: The ultimate chance is when you manage to sacrifice an AW to the DC.

vandoug, I personally don't want to dedicate much runs to testing out your hypothesis because when it comes to chest rooms for me it is either all or nothing
. Unless someone has tested it though, I won't discount the possibility that your theory is right, but I will say that if true it would be a very unusual way to handle loot, as it will punish and reward players based upon something so specific, or according to how they choose to do vases and chest rooms. You may have also heard theories about how prestige or leaderboard rank might improve your odds of getting good items, but again, it would be a very unusual way to handle loot. Based upon what my friends have said about how they can't get the remaining items they need after 500-2kk gold spent, I do not believe in those prestige/leaderboard theories.
But yesterday a friend who still needed the longshot ring after 1.5kk spent got it finally from the victory chest. And given my own very good experiences with commendation and victory chests I am inclined to believe that they are probably quite better than large chests, maybe 10-25x better in terms of obtaining a high level rare/unique item
.

You've had better luck. I haven't had any item I'd even consider using come out of one of those

Can confirm, am treasure pot.
I'm so, so sorry. <-- said in Templar voice just before I bash Senor Pez to get the 17 gold inside, because the 183,249 gold I already have isn't enough

If it is a treasure room chest, you must shout "big bucks, no whammies" on the open mic in order for it to work.
This has been tested and confirmed by the top leet players on the leaderboard, such as Medallion, etc.

Has anyone ever obtained a useful unique out of a chest? I always end up with low level garbage not even runes.
Got the dagger that procs hidden blades. That's about it

Anecdotal; from the 55 items I've pulled out of the chests I've gotten 3 above ilvl 15, and one unique, and an incredible pile of white junk below ilvl10. Nothing I've equipped (and I still "need" a lot of stuff).
In my experience with them, they appear exactly the same as normal large chests.
I expect that over a large sample size (the only way to really judge it) they are probably a few% more likely to drop uniques.
