Is there a solution to this? And if not is it possible to return the game to Gamestop after I've already opened it since it is defective?

My PC is well over recommended requirements but the screen always goes black during certain cut scenes and not always the same one. (Illusive man scenes with the stars behind him are usually the problem areas) I still here audio for a while but then the entire game locks up and I have to close out. My video card is Nvidia Geforce 9600 512mb, 4 gigs ram, 256 quad processer, Windows Vista 64bit. I upgraded video drivers, turned down video settings in game, and upgraded Direct X. I'm still having the exact problem.
Is there a solution to this? And if not is it possible to return the game to Gamestop after I've already opened it since it is defective?

Sorry, I don't know what that nonsense number i put up for processor is. I have to look it up when i get home.
